Going here for years. Ordered fillet plate. Fillets got smaller due to pandemic but thats understandable but the plate I got Friday was ridiculous. One fillet was the size of one cut in half and that cut in half again. Asked owner about it and she could care less. It's a shame when businesses can care less about customers and their product. I was in the neighborhood and came in to try it out. It just so happens that I was in the area, but as you can see from the rating this isn't a place that I would go out of my way to go to. Evans is a local spot that has that small business charm. I would imagine that the lady at the register is one of the owners and she was really nice. I got the catfish and it was pretty good, definitely one of the best that I've eaten...hot and cooked to order. Their sides were already made on the line and they didn't warm them up so honestly all I tasted was lukewarm mush. With that I know the name is Evans Pit BBQ...I just didn't feel like it... JUST left Evans bbq. Bbq & the Mac is delicious, let me start off by saying that. So today I get the Mac & a rib sandwich. I started eating the Mac & beef and I found a short fat SCREW, yes a screw you screw something together with in the Mac and beef (I'm glad I stared eating it before I got home, I stay wayyyyy on Frisco) I took it back & would think I would get accommodated for finding a SCREW in my Mac & beef . NO instead Ms. Jonnie (I'm assuming that her name) told me I can give you 2.29 back for the Mac & beef. ms ma'am is that all you can do for me after finding a SCREW in my Mac & beef . So In order for my to get ALL my money back I had to return the entire meal. Smh THAT WAS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICES. She DID NOT TRY TO MAKE ME HAPPY AT ALL . We love Evans been going here for years but have been disappointed in the food the last few times we have ordered from here. The catfish has been cut so thin that it's been mainly batter that we're eating. The hush puppies and pickles no longer come in the box when you order the fish as well. We would hate to take our business elsewhere but these issues have to be addressed. read more

Evans has some of the best ribs in the DFW area. Yes, they take a big hit on customer service. I've learned that the lady is just not warm and fuzzy. Her affect is flat most of the time. However, she takes your order and ensures it is correct. Therefore, I know what to expect when I go in the store. I usually order the rib sandwich plate with 2 sides. The sides are ok. Nothing to write home to mama about. But once again, the ribs and Texas toast are on point. I haven't been by in a while. Maybe, I will visit in the week to come. My co-worker and I are from out of town and were told to check this place out. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be a joke or if they were serious. The restaurant is not clean, the tables were all wobbly, the menu is outdated and the gal who took our order had to explain to us that they don't serve half of the items that were on it! We waited 20 minutes for extremely tiny portions of brisket and ribs. The food was completely dry and flavorless. The sauce tasted a bit off too. The menu is unfortunately NOT correct. No chicken products, no okra, no onion rings, and no good customer service. The customer service is poor and unaccommodating. My fries were soggy ( waited for like 20ish minutes you could have given me cooked fries)like they were under cooked . The hush puppies were way to busy for no reason. The fish fillets are small but well seasoned. I had the ham and it was pretty good . The tarter sauce was way too many pickle for the mayo ratio to even bother with. Mostly won't be back. My first time here at Evans but my thousandth to eat BBQ! Here's the scoop. I walk in staff is friendly, place felt like home. Not one fly or dirty table around. The food was very consistent with taste. The ribs weren't fall off the bone but real smoked meat has a good biting feel. The meat was excellent (Ribs & Sausage) and had a good subtle sweet and light spice to it. Remember something, when people make fall off the bone ribs that means that lots of liquid is involved so you have to wonder was it steamed? Not Evans, hardcore good tasting pit smoke!! The sides, I was surprised that they didn't have normal things like many places I've been. These folks have buttery greens, BBQ smoked beans and get this the beans had ground beef mixed in!! OMG it was tasty. My other side was something I've never had with BBQ which was a tangy dirty rice, finished by 2 pieces of crispy Texas toast. Kind of small but great people and food. We enjoy the taste of the BBQ and seafood here, but mostly order the seafood. Evan's gives a great quantity of food on your orders and taste delicious. The service was bad. The cashier was rude. For a cup of ice they charge the price of a drink. I said no so the cashier hands me a used cup that someone brought in the day before. The food is not very good, especially for the price. Overall bad experience. I will not be going back. Writing this review is long overdue. I used to frequent Evans about once a week. I picked up some ribs one Saturday at closing, thought I would impress my date. There were about 8 ribs in a pound, my guest ate 2 .She didn't comment on the ribs. Over in the middle of the night I thought I would have some. They were dry and hard, it should've been thrown away. I was embarrassed because I had boasted on the food. They are closed Sunday and Monday, I took them back Tuesday. The nice lady that normally work the register told me that since I only returned some of the ribs (5 out of 8) she would only give me some of my money back. She said the ribs could not have been bad because they had just cooked fresh food. She wasn't there that night. In most cases you would get a full refund if you are not satisfied or a fresh order anywhere else. I guess that was too much like right. I didn't fuss (A WOMAN IS ALWAYS RIGHT) lol. So I liked the ribs so well I continued to visit. After awhile the ribs got smaller and they were always hard, so I stopped going. Maybe they are doing better now but they lost a frequent customer I had boasted to my friends about the ribs. And I had to turn around and share this experience with them.
