Review Update (2026)…read more I am updating my original 5-star review from a few years ago. At the time, we were very happy with our kitchen remodel and the overall experience working with Creative Design & Build. The project turned out beautifully, which is why I originally left such a positive review. Over the years, however, I noticed that one section of the flooring felt slightly soft when walking on it. At first, it did not seem serious, so we continued to live with it. Recently, the problem became worse and a section of the floor began to noticeably sink when stepped on and eventually a few edges of the flooring broke. At that point, I became concerned that it could become a safety issue. Because we still had plenty of spare flooring boards left over from the project, I attempted to replace the affected board myself. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the new board to fit correctly due to the locking system, and I could not restore the original board either. I then contacted Creative Design & Build for assistance. One reason I reached out was because our original project manager, Oded, had told us that if we ever had any issues, we should contact the company. I left a voicemail and later received a return call from a staff member. After I explained the situation, she said she would check with management and get back to me. A few days later, I received a text message stating that the warranty had expired and that no repairs would be covered. This was disappointing because I had never been informed that there was a four-year warranty period, nor was I able to find any reference to such a limitation in our contract. When I asked for details regarding the warranty and whether they could recommend someone to repair the issue, I did not receive any further response. There were two other issues relating to electrical and plumbing, however we decided to live with that until we had a major problem we needed fixing. I still appreciate the work that was done on our remodel years ago, and our kitchen remains a space we enjoy. However, I have been disappointed by the lack of follow-up and support when a problem arose. My advice to future customers is to make sure all warranty terms, coverage details, and expiration dates are clearly documented and understood before signing a contract.

We met with more contractors than I care to admit. Most of them told us we couldn't do it with our budget or we would have to compromise on this or that. I was starting to doubt we could make it happen but then I met Jose. He not only said he could do everything we wanted but he also made several great suggestions on how we could save money including cabinets. The pandemic really screwed things up as far as timing and delayed our project several months. Jose made sure we had everything ready to go and prioritized our project to get it done as soon as possible once we finally received our permit. It was crazy how fast things moved after that. Jose and his team worked daily, sometimes late into the evening to make sure we got our project done by our targeted move-in date. There were some surprises a long the way and we also made a number of last minute decisions including asking Jose to install flooring throughout the entire first floor. Jose and his team took all of these things in stride and the results exceeded our every expectation! In the end we have the kitchen of our dreams with a wide open concept, new electric throughout the house, a brand new office where no office existed before, beautiful hardwood flooring and so much more. It's a brand new house! It was a long journey, but we really got to know Jose and his team, their work ethic, communication, flexibility and positive attitude. I fully expect to rehire Gonzalez Construction for future projects and I would never recommend another contractor to friends and family. Simply the best!

I had a really tight schedule to get this done and Jose made possible to get that bathroom remodeled on time, and the end-result was as I envisioned. The second time I hired Jose was for another full bathroom remodel on a house, and it was an even better experience to have worked with Jose. After that, we ended adding another multi-project to remodel a fireplace and build cabinets and floating shelves in our living room; replace wooden floors that needed work done; and add herringbone style tile floor to our kitchen. It really is a pleasure to work with someone who understands the world of construction, and who is excellent at communicating every step of the way with the client. Jose and his team are very honest and professional men; and every person involved in the contract is respectful of the property. We had a very ambitious project plan, including a full gutting and remodel of the kitchen and dining room space and a full gutting and remodel of the front half of our upstairs. The kitchen came first, and took around 3 months due to some unexpected issues that arose from the original construction of our 50 year old home, and a stone cutting subcontractor that botched his end of the job and then ghosted the company. Golden Shore Design and Build immediately promised to handle a full correction of the issues that subcontractor caused at their expense, and then proceeded to follow through on the promise. Once the kitchen was nearly finished, it was time for the upstairs. We gutted the non-structural walls in the front half of the house upstairs, and proceeded to put together a beautiful master bathroom / bedroom suite. That job took around 3 months as well, and ended up finishing a bit ahead of the original timeframe. I won't say there were not small issues that came up throughout the process, but that is really to be expected. We are doing major construction on a 50 year old home, and living in the home the entire time. When there were imperfections that needed fixing, Alex and Petra took care of them. When there were unexpected problems that arose due to the age of the home, they gave us honest and reasonable change order quotes, and options to not break the bank. The work that Alex, Petra and their entire team of people did really brought our dream design to life, and we are thrilled with the end results! We are even planning on having them back to do a guest bathroom that we originally left out of the scope.

He did not secure our hallway and den so workers had access to our private papers. Our windows and doors were left unlocked numerous times, even though we had our belonging still in the house. They tossed our plants and pottery into the dirt, breaking things and killing plants. They use the middle of our living room floor as a trash dump where they threw empty water bottles, packaging, and other junk. They used flat paint in our kitchen and bathroom and when I pointed it out, they argued with me until I had to do research and go to the paint store to prove that they were wrong. They accidentally put molding up in the bedroom and took it down, leaving nail holes all along the ceiling line instead of asking us if we would pay extra for the molding. They put the lights up over our kitchen counter in the wrong place and had to move them creating new holes in the ceiling. They had to move the HVAC system because they put the vent in the bedroom. All new wall construction has patches and gouges that weren't sanded properly. The bathroom was repainted three times and it's still isn't correct. They attached our outdoor lights without anything in the back so they are hanging off the wall. Trying to get these issues dealt with has been a nightmare since last November when we moved back in. Constant appointments, needing to be available sending the wrong people out here and having them create a bigger mess. We are being handled by some employee we've never met and have not heard one word from Brandon, the president of the company. The fact that the project manager was fired after our project was very telling. You'd expect that knowing how incompetent he was that they would've assigned someone out here to oversee all of the problems we've been dealing with. That did not happen.
