I owned a 2002 MINI Cooper for about 10 years, and of all the places I took it, including the MINI dealer in Scottsdale (for warranty purposes), European Auto Tech fixed my MINI better than any other place. While they were always a bit expensive, I attribute that more to the car than the place, I did not feel like they were taking advantage of me. If you want it done right, take it to them. If you want it done cheap, get another car. read more

Only place I've taken my Porsche Cayman S for service since purchasing in 2012. I actually drive an hour and a half just to go European Auto Tech, and it has been well worth the time it takes to get there. I've had routine oil changes, brake replacement as well as 55k and 60k services preformed. Since my last review, I've taken my Audi here for a few routine maintenance jobs and a couple repairs. From my experiences, the mechanics are pretty thorough with repairs (I've never had to come back for the same problem) and the staff is always friendly. For further peace of mind, the work is also warrantied. Honest repair shops can be hard to find, but I think these folks are one of them. read more

I took my 2003 Porsche Boxter in for an oli change and to check my clutch. I had to have my clutch and flywheel replaced. They were very informative about what needed to be done and the cost associated with the repair. They also informed me of an issue that porsche has experienced with IMS bearings. Thanks to John and the crew at EAT!! What a great experience. Making the trek from New York City to parts unknown in Texas and then on to California for the Holiday Season, I started to hear the dreaded clack/clack/clack of the right CV joint. I was able to make it to Tucson for some repairs. I read the reviews on this site and thought this is the place for me. By the time I pulled into the shop the sound coming from the CV joint was pretty consistent. I showed up right when they opened and I was told that they were pretty full, but John usually comes in around 9 and he might be able to take a look. The waiting area was very pleasant and after a night in the cold it was nice to warm up. Well, John showed up in about 10 minutes and after a quick chat a couple road warrior stories, they had checked locally for an axle--but no luck, they couldn't get one in till the next day. John decided to get it on the lift and just double check the CV joints, he found that they were that loose but they were pretty dry, so armed with a grease-gun and a slim tube attachment, he cut the clamps on the CV Boots and filled all the joint with new lube. We took it out for a quick drive and the sound was gone, I felt like I could continue on my trip and it was fine the whole way to California and I was able to properly check then in my friends garage. Getting back on the road and not hearing the clack clack clack driving down the road was well worth the $63.00 they charged me for the whole experience. Oh, almost forgot, I even got a free wash out of the deal and few more van stories from John. I highly recommend this place to anyone that rolls through Tucson!! I was very surprised to find that not a lot of places had the needed equipment to repair my vehicle and if they did they wanted to charge an insane amount for repairs and try to add repairs. Follow this thread and the previous entries, consumer. I have complained at being charged $500 for a failure to diagnose problem. As you can see from reading the response of the owner, if this happens and you complain, he may blame you. You have consulted the internet about your problem or attempted to find a solution. As it turns out, after I pulled my car and took it to a knowledgable provider, the problem was diagnosed simply and quickly. Euro had missed an obvious thing because of its lack of knowledge about the problem. My caution remains, be skeptical of a request from this provider to spend more time on your dime because it cannot figure out the problem. Now that I am advised of the correct diagnosis I'm going to ask that a part (most) of what I was charged be refunded, and stand by. read more

brought car here for a broken coolant hose. the mechanic broke three other hoses during the process of taking off the already broken one (granted they were all worn out - but still it cost me an extra 350 unexpected dollars). Turns out they ordered the wrong parts... had to wait another day. Fine, it happens. Finally, get the car back. The same night I got it back, it starts to overheat (this was never a problem before we took it into the shop). We call in horror the next morning, they tow it in. Say it is due to a leaky coolant tank cap. Okay cool. It all looked okay to me. Drove it another 15 miles and it started to overheat again. So, we start drive it to the shop AGAIN, only this time it overheated so fast we didn't have a chance to pull over before the new hoses exploded apart and splashed coolant all over the place. Had to get it towed AGAIN. The shop refused to reconnect the hoses until we paid 180 dollars (ya, 120 dollars of labor + 30 dollars for a brass pipe that is 2 inches long). This is a 2 minute job but they act like it is a 2 hour job. Since they won't fix the hoses, they can't test the system to see why it is all of a sudden overheating (most likely something they screwed up on). So we call around and ask other mechanics what they think they would charge us... all of them say 100 dollars to 120 dollars. And, they all bad mouthed the owner (in a polite way, more like "Oh, yeah, John! He is a handful to work with") So we call them back and say we don't want the repairs, we'll just tow the car somewhere else. He made us pay for the tow truck that got the car there before we could tow it down the street to another mechanic!! Needless to say, this is by FAR the worst experience I have ever had with a mechanic - and this isn't even the whole story... they tried to charge me for the coolant tank cap ($28.00 for a $8.00 part - which THEY replaced a year ago). They also tried to charge me for other stuff that I never agreed on. Never go there - unless you have a lot of money to throw around and don't mind your mechanic making your car worse. I realize this overheating problem could have been something completely unrelated, and just coincidental that it happened when it did, but they shop was completely unwilling to make sure it wasn't something they did. read more

Women in particular, beware!!! I went to this shop, because it's one of the "Bimmer Group" shops, I did the research and thought I could trust them. I was wrong. I scheduled an appointment for an oil change on my two decade plus BMW sedan that has been well maintained all it's life. Because of this experience, I now wonder if they even installed a new oil filter. Having an appointment for first thing in the morning, I still waited over two hours. When my car was finally ready - they kept typing and typing the "Estimate" for work they said needed to be done, totaling over $1,700! The owner even told me I Must Have the one part replaced or I would be at risk of "my wheels falling off", and since that needed to be done there were other parts and services that needed to be done as well. This "Must Do or my wheels could fall off" portion alone totaled over $1,100, above and beyond the oil change service! Thank goodness I ran this "Estimate" by a friend who used to race cars and is very knowledgeable, he said what they told me was not true and warned me NOT to go back! Let this be my warning to you. read more

Took my porsche boxster here a few times. They were very nice and courteous, but insisted that a number of things were wrong with it that were making the check engine light come on. I completely feel like they were assuming because I was a young female driving a nice car, they could take advantage of me. The total they gave me was close to $4,000 for just a few things and said they weren't sure that was even what was making the check engine light come on. They said we would have to fix those things first and see if that worked, if it didn't, we would have to keep trying. Also, told me that it was a money pit and it was probably easier to get rid of it...really?! Not having $4,000 (and being smarter than the little rich girl they thought I was) I took it to Dearing automotive for a second opinion. The awesome guys at Dearing Automotive fixed my car for $2000 and it runs like a DREAM. Not only did that fix the check engine, but he fixed a few cosmetic issues and told me the things that EAT said I needed to fix, did NOT need to be fixed!! In conclusion, I think that European Auto Tech has their wallet in mind, rather than continuing to give their customers HONEST, quality service. Although the folks at European Auto Tech were very nice, I'd take my car to Dearing Automotive instead! read more

I highly recommend European Auto Tech (EAT). I live in Seattle and bought a 1983 Porsche 911 SC at online auction from its original owner in Tuscon. I planned to drive the car from Tuscon to Seattle, so wanted to make sure it was tip-top for the trip. After having EAT recommended to me by the seller, they completed a number of large and small jobs. Dana and the front office are incredibly proactive and detailed with communication and status updates, which made me completely comfortable working with them long-distance. The work itself was completed by Mark, a technician with significant Porsche experience who is meticulous and clearly takes great pride in his work. When I picked the car up, seeing the EAT shop and the car for the first time ever, I was even more impressed. Clean, friendly, professional shop with a team who loves what they do. I have high expectations in general, and I was very pleased with the results. They took time to walk me through all aspects of the car, provided some tips for the trip, and made me think about moving to Tuscon just so I could continue working with them. And... I drove the car more than 2,000 miles, returning to Seattle. Warm, cold, day, and night, the car started on the first turn and it performed perfectly. Don't take your prized classic anywhere else. I have had many of my BMW Z4 lights go out... and never at the same time. The last one was the headlight and i didn't want to drive home that night in the dark. Took my 2001 VW Beetle to take care of cold start issue and thought they could take care of it with hose or valve but it turned out to be head gasket leak. UGHH! ! I didn't believe them since the car runs fine throughout driving around operating vehicle on general. Probably should have went with recommendations but I was tired of being screwed by so called professionally mechanics and left with non operating vehicle after dumping 600 calms into vehicle. I felt like the lady who left a nasty review about a coolant leak at first but I had someone else take a look at it and they pressure tested coolant system and removed spark plug and sure enough coolant was filling cylinders 3&4. Euro Tech used a camera to ID the problem which is interesting and they're pretty service orientated which makes one feel like your at a chain like Firestone or Goodyear but there small business owned not operated by a corporation.
