After a bad experience at another mechanic, these guys took in my 1983 380SL and fixed it. They undid everything the last mechanic messed up and went above and beyond. I had a timeline and these guys had the work done and done well, way before my timeline was up. They know everything about classic Benzs. I'll be back 100%! This is one the most trustworthy and honest companies you could ever hope to find. I'm halfway through a 10k mile road trip. My bmw had been making a noise and I was nervous about continuing. They checked out my car, said it was safe to drive, gave me a printout of what they'd recommend my local shop do when I'm ultimately back home... and then didn't charge me a single penny. I'm a woman, traveling alone, a couple thousand miles from home. It would have been easy to rip me off (I wouldn't have known they were doing it), but they took care of me. This is a rare company with integrity. As I sat in the waiting room, I heard their employees tell customer after customer about things they may need in the future, but weren't necessary yet. But they're not just honest... they're expert at what they do. Another customer told me how this is *the* best place to take European cars. I'm from out of town and was attending a board meeting for a non-profit on a Saturday. As I leave on my way home my car stalls and I can't restart it. The AAA guy picks me up and we're headed to the dealer (ugh). One look at my Connecticut plates and I know the dealer will have his next two month's boat payments paid for. As were driving past European Auto Solutions the AAA guy sees their gate open and we drive in. There are techs working on some cars so I went over to ask if they are open. They weren't, but when I explained I was from out of town and the problem I was having, one of the principals, Ed Owen came out, talked to the techs, who were working on personals projects on their own time, and said they'd be happy to take a look at it. A couple of the techs came over we talked about what happened, and they seemed to have a good idea of the problem based on what I was describing. After they got my car off the truck they correctly diagnosed the problem. They carried the part in stock and within an hour I was on my home and I paid a very reasonable price for an outstanding experience. In today's world it would be very easy to take advantage of someone who was not a local, but at European Auto Solutions I was treated as if I had been their customer for decades. As good as auto repair gets. The crew from the now defunct and much admired Hatch & Sons Automotive in Wayland started their own shop in Waltham (Hatch and Son sales continues in Hudson) specializing in Mercedes-Benz. In this venture the core personnel are all ownership partners thus ensuring a productive attitude, personal accountability and reasonable efficiency. The experience is like the dealer but scaled down and homey. The waiting room has a couple of PC's and I think they have WiFi. There's even a soundproof chamber for small kids. If your repair becomes entailed, they'll give you a loaner. The last time I was there, they gave me a Mercedes 300e while I waited on brake parts to arrive. Of course, they always fix my car on the first visit and they never give me my car back with a ton of black grease on the door armrest and footwell carpet. With European Auto as a resource, I'm now actually comfortable being out of warranty. read more

Similar experience as others. I've always had my mercedes benzes serviced by the same people. They are not the cheapest in the business and there is nothing wrong with that. Their work is 150%. I had a big evaporator job done on a 95 mercedes e420. The whole dash had to come out. When it came back, it was clean as ever and there was not a squeak or rattle. AMAZING. Here's my biggest favorite - when they say 'Thank you' (for your business), they mean it. The business is personal and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I'm sad that I don't have a Mercedes anymore to be honest. I can't find a group of people equally classy/professional/knowledgeable/passionate/enthusiastic as EAS' can i give 6 stars please? by the way, these people attend car shows with the cars that they service.. you should see the condition of some of these Mercedes.. read more

It literally wouldn't be possible to say enough good things about this shop in a single review. After dropping another shop after they screwed up one time too many, I found this shop and talked to Ed, one its owners. He and his crew have taken phenomenal care of my car ever since. Even when it involved helping me find a body shop after it was hit by a kid running a red light. The kind of business you don't mind paying because they do what they do so well and for totally reasonable prices. They readily provide loaners while the work is done and never try to push you to do things that aren't needed. A pleasure doing business with these guys and I can't recommend them enough. read more

I went to Bouchard Nissan dealer to trade in my older infinity for something newer. I was greeted by Richard Lyons who was extremely courteous and helpful. He told me all of my options and I ended up leasing a Murano which so far has been great. The only problem I had was that the time element; was, I felt, too long to get the paper work to complete the transaction. Probably holiday issue. The other problem was that the car was not at the facility and was told that the car had 300 miles on the odometer. When I received the car it had 425 miles. Since miles is an issue when one leases, I felt somewhat disturbed. I therefore would rate Richard a 5 and the overall a 4 star experience. read more

This is a bizarre one. I have an old BMW that I am restoring and I was extremely excited to find this place. Went in to have an oil change and thought the place was great. Had a good conversation with a couple of the guys, got to see some nice old German cars, was then presented with my bill along with some work recommendations. I reviewed the work recommendations with them and they then agreed to get a quote together for me to let me know what the cost would be. Mind you- this car is a toy for me and is being restored, so I'm prepared to spend money on it. That was a couple of months ago. That was the last I heard from this place. For the life of me, I cannot get them to return a call or an email. So far, I've sent several emails to two different addresses associated with this shop and haven't received a response. I've called the shop and asked to speak to Ed (who originally helped me) and have been told he'd call me back. He didn't. I've left two messages with them via Facebook, neither have been responded to. I have no idea why this shop refuses to communicate with a customer who is trying to spend money with them, but I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

The worst service I have ever experienced in auto service. I left my 40-year old mercedes to be evaluated for restoration. I called them weekly, never once got a call back regarding possible work, fixability, or even an estimate of what could be done. Car was there for 5 weeks, each time they said they needed more time! Finally I retrieved it, they showed me papers with calculations, but a month and many phone calls later, they still won't tell me if they accomplished a thing. I could not believe how rude and dismissive they were about a potentially large restoration! Terrible place. read more

European Auto is the best Mercedes specialty shop around. There is no reason to go to the dealer anymore, they do it all here. Whether your car is a 2011 or 1911, they can fix it. Since they moved to their new location on the Weston/Waltham line a few months ago, they now have more space and a much better parking lot. I love that you can get a free loaner car for longer repairs or use their guest office with free wifi for shorter durations. The repairs have always been top notch and the prices are reasonable. The team is really just that; a great group of people that love their work and know each customer by their first name. And they are very involved with local Mercedes events which means you'll see them at all the shows. I hope they are around for a long time. read more

Best Mercedes service in Boston and probably New England! My CLK 500 hit a pothole just outside of their driveway that punctured the right side tires and bent the rims. It was quite the Waltham pothole. Fortuitously, I saw their sign and when I looked them up was delighted that they serviced and focused on Mercedes models. Went in for a flat tire right before they were about to close in the evening but they still took me in. Has to order a new tire as the puncture was on the sidewall. Scott followed up the next day with my options and a price estimate. I went to the shop just before they were closing on the same day but they were still able to accommodate my request. The work was done pretty fast. The price was also very reasonable. The complementary wash and vaccum at the end was a nice touch. read more

This is by far the best place to get your European car serviced around the Boston area, not just Waltham. The shop is predominantly oriented to Mercedes Benz owners, the staff is extremely knowledgable, and they offered me a free loaner. They tend to always have nice classic cars being serviced, and the waiting area puts dealerships into shame. The place is very pricy but you do get what you are paying for. Personally I come here only for the difficult jobs on my w203 Mercedes. But if I had a nice classic Mercedes, I wouldn't let any other shop touch it. read more

Stopped by Ed's shop with my cousin's 65 300 SE convertible. My cousin wanted to restore the car because its beautiful car/ perfect for to take the family around in. Ed took his time to evaluate the car other members of shop also helped. One of them being his father. Ed came reported everything that was up with the car. Told us his honest opinion to let the car instead opening up a can of worms. I truly appreciate his honesty. As he was viewing the car I realized Ed was under the weather but he kept his appointment for us. What a stand up guy. He told us it was important for him to view to the car and help is out. Insanely good. I have no idea what I can add to the table that the other reviewers haven't already said, but this place truly deserves five stars. I had an accident with my Mercedes in January and only wish I'd found them sooner. I knew about them from online Benz owner message boards, but had a mechanic I was being loyal to (a body shop, actually, and that turned out to be a huge mistake). They fixed problems the body shop caused during repair. They didn't charge me for the first job they did because the work wasn't up to THEIR standards (ever heard of that from an auto repair shop???). They have a very classy business, period, from top to bottom. I even got some one on one time with the owner when they didn't have a loaner in for me as promised, and were about to rent me a car - as I work in Waltham I said, it's fine, give me a ride if you can vs. paying for a rental, and out comes the owner to give me a lift to work. Great people who value their customers. I also attended an open house the weekend of april 18th, 2009, a benz owner's club open house - great time, very down to Earth people, and some great car-talk and cars! read more

Unfortunately, I can not joint the "Club of Admirers". ECS asked $3,000 for the work, which I payed for $200 later in another shop. I realized that price could be different for the same kind of job, but not 15 (!) times. They also could not find my engine problem and for about 2 years they said "Sensor is broken". Horrible experience. I may take them to small claims court for shoddy work, it's that bad. They might be great at regular gas cars or more modern Mercedes models, but they are terrible with diesels. Dropped my car off for a fairly minor repair, car didn't run well on highways. When we picked it up it was running very rough. Mechanic's explanation was that this was "motor mounts" (uh, motor mounts don't make thick black smoke out the tailpipe, buddy) and it was OK, they had done all these diagnostics but only found a loose clamp--everything else supposedly fine. Car didn't even make it home before it completely died on a back road. Had it towed back, after two weeks of jerking around they informed us that the whole engine block was screwed up. We said, well, keep the price under $1000 whatever you do--we can get a new engine from a parts car for $1000 if it comes to that, they told us, "No, we can do a work-around re-machining it." Their bill: $2000. $2000 to pay them for the privilege of letting them break my car for me. Next time I will just fix it myself. Thought I was too busy to spend my weekend chasing vacuum leaks and re-upholstering doors, this is what I get for it--a warped engine block, a screwed-up rebuild, and a gigantic bill. read more
