*WARNING* THEY WILL SELL YOU AN OLD RE-HEATED PIE
I recently went to this shop for the first time, as I'm not from the immediate area.
I had the urge for a pie and noticed the pies in the glass display cabinet.
I asked for the plain beef pie.. but the blonde shop worker said, "We have a beef and mushroom already in oven heated up". The oven tray was situated in full view and I could see it there. It was the only one on the tray. She added, "It will save you time having to wait".
The pie was over $5+ dollars. She asked if I wanted tomato sauce, conveniently failed to tell me firstly that the sauce costs extra! So altogether this pie was near $6. I also ordered a coffee.
Still at the counter, she took the pie from the oven and gave it to me. I sat down, then I noticed immediately that the pie's pastry had a yellowish tinge. I just thought nothing of it. Perhaps it was one of these 'gourmet' sort of pies? hmm..
So I digged the spoon in the middle and noticed the gravy was a horrible heavy gooey muck. It was minimal too.. where was the rest? There were a couple of mushroom slices that looked (and tasted) like flat brown paper. I realized it wasn't a mince pie but rather a beef pie with a handful of meaty 'chunks'.
The meaty 'chunks' didn't look healthy.. in fact they were hard as a rock and cutting through with the spoon, the meat was whitish colour on the inside! The meaty 'chunks' towards the edges of this pie were scary blackened, hard as a rock, the inside meat was whitish. I bit into the pastry and it was also as hard as a rock and worried I'd crack my teeth, didn't go any further.
No way would I chance my health finishing off this disgusting poisonous pie. I left it on table.
This pie was clearly OLD AND RE-COOKED God knows how many times.
The coffee arrived. Half the coffee was just froth. You know how when you buy coffee and they sprinkle all over the top with chocolate powder? Well.. not at this place! The coffee had chocolate sprinkled just an inch from the one side only. They cost cutting to save money on cheap chocolate powder!
I came here to get a fresh pie and got an OLD, RE-HEATED pie which had been re-heated God knows how many times.
For the blonde to offload an OLD, RE-HEATED pie to me proves she is unethical, sees the customer as 'just a number' and disrespectful of customer health (I had a sick stomach later) for the sake of saving a few dollars offloading old re-heated pies!!
The motto 'there's a sucker born every minute' rings true here. I still believe that if you sell a food item, you will 'respect' the customer by selling them what YOU expect YOU'D eat as a customer. As I now know.. not at Europa Carnegie!
My duty is to tell as many people I can about my horrible experience here. read more
