Their legendary chicken dinner. I work at the QEII and its a very common request for night shift orders.
    Ashley C.

I only ever get the same thing at this place. I was first introduced to the chicken dinner during a night shift at work. And I have been hooked ever since. It's so simple and yet perfect. The dish is made up of a greek salad which is probably my favourite part and I'm not a big salad person. It's tomato, cucumber, red onion and feta with an oil dressing. Then there's chicken souvlaki and a fresh pita with a mountain of homemade best-I-ever-had tzatziki. The tzatziki has a great garlic spin on it and did I mention they make it themselves? I personally like to let the pita soak up the oil dressing and then dip it in the tzatziki, try it and you'll see what I mean! I've been ordering this dish for a couple years now and I never tire of it. And best of all, it's the perfect late night food without the heavy pit in your stomach feeling. It's amazing how good it is and still has nutrition at the same time. I love it so much that I never order anything else. To top it off, the men who work here are super sweet. Don't let the hole-in-the-wall location scare you off, just step inside and get ready for amazingness.

A very yummy large pizza with green peppers, mushrooms and big black olives.

Based on the really good reviews on Yelp, I decided to give this place a try, as we were looking for a change from the chain pizza stores. I ordered by phone, great number 479-7979, and my husband picked it up. We ordered a 3 ingredient large. The pizza was ready on time and the man on the phone was friendly. My husband paid cash. The location is just up the Bay Road from the Rotary. So we opened the box and dug in. I liked the crust which was medium thick, chewy and fluffy. I also noted the tomato sauce which had a sweet and tangy flavour. The cheese on top was thick and gooey. The green pepper and mushrooms were garden fresh. And I savoured the salty taste of the big black olives. This pizza was a delicious treat and we enjoyed every bite!

    Super duper garlic fingers!

Ok... How is this place new to me? Apparently they have been around for-ever but I just found them! On the hunt for some "late night, tired after work, couldn't even try to cook" meal and my brother happened to mention Euro Pizza...boy am I glad he did! The garlic fingers had roasted garlic on them and a fantastic amount of cheese!! (Because cheese is always welcome in my books!) There are 2 options and the regular comes with donair sauce while the deluxe comes with tzatziki. Mmmm The price is right on, 6-10$ depending on which you get, and they have plenty more options...including donairs! (said to be amazing and will be tried on my next venture!)

Ordered their take out. The donair pizza and garlic fingers was very good for a decent price, I was pleased with it.

I found myself third wheeling my friends Gavin and Mikaela at Tony's Pizza & Donair, and honestly?…read moreIf you're going to be the third wheel, this is the place to do it. Tony's absolutely delivers when it comes to classic late-night comfort food. The pizza was loaded with toppings, perfectly cheesy, and had that ideal balance of a crisp crust with a soft, satisfying bite. Every slice held together and didn't feel skimpy -- exactly what you want when you're sharing (or silently judging who's eating more). The donair was just as solid: warm, well-seasoned meat, fresh toppings, and that sweet donair sauce that brings everything together. Messy in the best way, and packed with flavor from the first bite to the last napkin. The vibe at Tony's is casual and welcoming -- no frills, no pretending to be something it's not. Service was quick and friendly, even while the place was busy, and the food came out hot and fresh. While Gavin and Mikaela were doing their thing, I was fully locked in on the food -- and Tony's made it easy. Reliable, filling, and exactly what you're craving, whether you're on a date, with friends, or proudly third wheeling like me. Five stars. Third wheel approved. -- The Muncher

When I told people we were going to be making a port stop in Halifax, Nova Scotia I head from…read moreseveral people who said "You have GOT to try a donair in Halifax!". I'm not one to disagree with people when they tell me to try something local or something a place is known for. We were determined to find a donair during our hop-on/hop-off tour of Halifax. When doing our Google search we found that Tony's Donair and Pizza was about a block from one our stops and is noted for their donairs. Ok, easy enough. Our walk from our hop-on/hop-off stop was an easy one along a residential street and then along a larger thoroughfare. I was genuinely excited to try a donair, after hearing so much about them....and, incidentally, I was STARVING. Tony's Donair & Pizza is your typical hometown restaurant the apparently does more takeout than it does eat-in. There are only 2 or 3 tables, and you can tell the location is aged. Your order is placed at the counter and wait for your order to be called. There is no drink fountain, but a selection of beverages in a cooler. (YEAH, for Dr. Pepper®). I didn't know what to expect from a donair, really. Just that it's like a Gyro, but it has a sweeter sauce on it. I was not, in any way, disappointed. It was heavily stuffed with pita meat, whatever the mysterious sweet sauce is, and onions. A side of onion rings rounded out the meal nicely. The food was fresh and very tasty. The staff was friendly enough while appearing to be in a hurry to get something else done. It was around lunch time so I'm sure they had a lot of takeout orders to get made. All in all, a good visit. I can tell all of the people who said I had to get a donair that I did and I loved it.

Review is closer to a 1.3/5, or a 2/10. Ordered last night through Uber Eats. Ordered a large…read moredonair sub without veg, and a bacon cheeseburger with fries, without veg, and asked for some ketchup included. They very clearly don't bother reading the requests, because they had full veg on the sub, and onions on the burger. But that itself wasn't the problem... The food was just terrible. The sub fell apart upon opening, with the cheese and meat both falling off the bread immediately. Bread was both overly toasted and way too soft to hold the ingredients, and apparently the donair sauce was on the side with the burger and fries, something I wasn't told of. Reason I didn't look? Cause the entire container was open and just tossed in the bag without any care. The burger was overcooked and tasted of the grill, with the only reason it was edible at all being the okay bacon on top. The fries were actually alright, the only reason I wouldn't give it a straight 1, as they were crispy and tasted good, but I also know for a fact that they're the same kind of frozen fries you can get at the grocery store. But hey, not gonna judge, they were the best thing I got. Got two portions of donair sauce, they were okay, but again, wasn't informed they were even in the bag. All in all...Awful food from a place I know can make really good stuff. I understand it was Christmas, but if you can't make the same quality of food, there's no reason to be open at all during the holidays.
