I was walking around in the pier, feeling sad because I didn't have a lobster roll. I was starving. (Well, very hungry) I saw the signs for Tomavino's and the promise of a lobster roll, and decided to give it a try. The pizza smell completely removed thoughts of lobster. It was such a perfect aroma of cheese and sauce, and the decor is made to look as though you're eating outside a two story Italian building. There is outdoor and indoor seating, and restrooms for customers. The pizza was delicious! Lots of cheese, a great sauce and good cook on the crust. The ice cream sandwich was served right from the freezer so it was hard ice cream, but very refreshing even on an October day. My server was very nice, and was actually the one to suggest the ice cream straight from the freezer so I wasn't eating a puddle after the pizza. It may not be what you think of when you're on a cruise port, but I definitely recommend the pizza! read more

Walking around aimlessly and the smell of this quaint restaurant drew me in. "Artful" 9" pizzas of all kinds. I ordered the New Yorker- it was delicious, came out piping hot. We came down to the pier and we had forgotten about eating. This place is pretty unassuming but once we walked in the decor and smell was pure Italy! Wonderful food - wanted to take a picture but it was already half gone! We had the lobster roll and Caesar - both excellent. The pizza is also very very good. Service was the best part though. Just delicious food. We ordered online tonight and, because of a Christmas parade in the city, they called us to let us know the order would be delayed but we were OK with waiting. The order arrived immediately after the parade and it was fresh and hot. The pizzas were both delicious and with fresh and plentiful toppings. Definitely recommend this restaurant! read more

extra charges are unexplainable. Ordered delivery to my house 800m away and was told there would be no delivery charge since i'm so close and was charged $5 when the pizza delivered. I also asked for donair sauce which I was assuming might be a dollar or so at most and it was $3 and tasted spoiled. Pizza is okay, nothing special but really disappointed in the service. Hidden in the back alley of Garrison Brewery is Tomavino's. I work at the Port and I wouldn't have even known it was there unless it was cruise ship season. Formerly in the Café Chianti building on the corner of Hollis and South prior to their fire, this place has not missed a step. I used to go there many years ago, and had not thought of it in many more. The owner is charming, and we mused about the monstrosity that Galaxy Properties is building in the former location. I had a slice and a pint of Garrison, tax and tip was 12 bucks, take that Piatto. The slice is one half of a 9 inch pizza, and was delightfully filling, with high quality ingredients. Spicy honey and high quality salt and olive oil adorn the table. Port workers get 10% off. See you again soon my old friend. read more

I had dinner at Tomavinos Pizzeria with my wife and a friend on Saturday 17 September. This tiny eatery is a short walk from the Westin hotel. My friend and I ordered individual small 9 inch pizzas: he had the Hawaiian and I opted for the Con Carne. My wife ordered the half Pizza of the Day (vegetarian) plus Caesar Salad. These were thin crust pizzas baked in an oven that used a wire-rack conveyor to move the pizza through the oven. The making and baking process was visible through a glass partition in the small seating area. My Con Carne pizza included homemade meatballs, Italian sausage and pepperoni. I could see the tiny disks of pepperoni and taste the Italian sausage, but did not recognize any meat balls -rather likely bits of ground beef. The 9 inch size was adequate for a meal. As a native of Chicago, and now longtime resident of California, my standard for good pizza has declined since leaving Chicago. I enjoyed the thin crust and the taste of the toppings were OK. read more

If I wanted a pile of dog food I'd go to tomavinos and order anything off the menu. I'm not sure if the tomato sauce was actual tomatoes or floor spit. Not even Garfield would want the lasagna. Aside from the food the waitress was so dense that she couldn't tell if she was serving pizza or serving time if so she could probably get a jail tat from the manager he has plenty. A real taste of Italian ?? I felt more Italian in the rigatoni isle in sobeys. read more

We stopped in for a quick lunch. Good service, fast, friendly and efficient. Food came quickly and was delicious.

Stopped there for a late lunch, place was almost empty. We ordered and they wrote our order on a slip which somehow never got to the chef. We ended up waiting 45 minutes before asking why our pizza was never made, they started making it and we received it 20 minutes later. We received a refund only because we made a slight scene. The pizza is mediocre. If you go there I recommend keeping an eye on the kitchen to make sure you get your order. read more

Best pizza in the city!! Their homemade crust is what does it for me; thin but still a bit doughy around the edges. Try the Ambrosia when you go- you won't be disappointed!
