The blacked out tint and dated wooden building reminds me of an adult toy store. But once you muster up the courage to walk in, everything changes. The Beauty Centre is bright and clean, buzzing with conversation between the hairstylists and customers. White lights enhance the marble floors. Soft blue tones dance with silver metallics that make the place feel bigger than it really is. As I stopped at the reception desk, Lynn had already pegged me as her next client and we hit it off right then and there! She led me into her studio space that is shared amongst the other aestheticians, all working independently from each other. Lynn was professional and comforting, asking the basic questions like "Have you waxed before?" and "When was your last waxing?" She even mentioned that it was important to keep hydrated the couple days before to help the hair removal process. The wax she used was the most gentle I've ever experienced. Brazilians are painful no matter what, but it makes a HUGE difference when the wax grabs the hair properly and the professional removes it cleanly. She told me to inhale, then ripped at the exhale. What a great tip! Throughout the waxing, she spoke to me about her family of five children who have all grown up, her nice husband Pat, and how she used to run her business from home until it got a bit too busy. As a cosmetologist myself, if something as simple as the being bed is dirty, I would absolutely NOT trust that the wax is clean as well. Since I was getting a Brazilian I do not trust that they are not putting double dipped wax on my kitty, avoid if looking for a place. The sight, smell, and sound of the spa immediately draws you in. After settling in, I had the most amazing Salt Facial at Honolulu Spa & Wellness with the owner. I do not get facials regularly because I tend to leave the salon with sensitive skin that's all blotchy and red from the chemicals that were used. But getting a Salt Facial is so much different! No chemicals were used and the results were amazing. The salt used is a natural antibacterial and antimicrobial agent so my skin was not irritated one bit in the process. I learned this is one of the few places offering this service, so definitely take advantage of them having this service. The procedure started by cleansing my face and neck first. Then the Salt Facial followed with her using a wand that used all natural sea salt resurfacing to prep my skin for the next stages. I thought it was going to hurt for some reason , but it didn't at all and just felt like a deep exfoliation. I then had an aesthetic ultrasound to nourish and increase circulation of my skin, which helped whatever she used to get deeper into my skin. The next step was where I could really feel the treatment doing its job, and that was the LED light therapy! I did that for a couple of minutes and could feel my skin getting its natural glow back. The last part of my experience here was a hydrating face mask that I didn't even know I needed. The whole process felt so fast but gave such great results. My skin feels brighter and tighter, especially around my under-eye and cheeks where I felt like my skin was sagging a bit. As a follow up, I came in for the Scultural Face Lift with Buccal Massage. This included lymphatic drainage (behind your ears) and microcirculation of my shoulders, neck, and jaw area.
