I found this place near our house when my gf was looking for somewhere to get her eyebrows done. I moved, so I wanted to find a place for eyebrow waxing closer to our new home. Lucky for me, I hit the jackpot on the first try. You know how it is ladies... it's so difficult to find someone good - sometimes it takes a couple of tries. She has one designated parking spot available, but no worries - there's plenty of parking spots in the lot if that's taken. Her studio is aesthetically pleasing and feels very relaxing. She even provides "spa-like" slippahs to wear. Her waiting room is cozy and she has complimentary candy and coffee/tea/hot chocolate via Keurig. I love Cariann! But since my desk is by the window I see the amount of comings and going she has always told me she must be great at what she does. And I was right! Wanted a brow wax stat (at least a year went by since the last wax so what's the rush right? Heh yeah. But seriously. Needed it). Made an appointment ONLINE (no calling!) for the very next day. LOCATION: Stadium Mall across the Jack-in-the-Box drive thru. Cariann even sent a text describing where her shop is located (right when I was trying to find it. Perfect timing!) INTERIOR/AMBIANCE: Well-lit, petite shop. Simple, welcoming and clean decor. Shoes are removed upon entering and you change into bath slippers. Filled out some (easy peasy) paperwork as I was a new customer. Then, she directed me into the room where the waxing magic happens. EYEBROWS: Scheduled an appointment solely for eyebrow waxing. She was personable and we had a pleasant conversation while she deftly waxed off all the extra brow hair. The end result was exactly as I had hoped-- shaped and thinned, but not overly so. OVERALL: 100% will return. It was almost too easy to make an appointment and Cariann is very skilled at what she does. I've gone back and forth between waxing/tweezing and threading over the past few years living in Hawaii. Cariann is the best waxer I have ever had! I had been waxing for years at multiple places and I knew after the first time she waxed me I wouldn't be going anywhere else. She took care of me for 4 years! I got a Brazilian every 4 weeks. Her method is the least painful I've ever had, she's fast, VERY clean, has a TV mounted so you can watch Netflix during your service, and best of all she is incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. I have been going to Cari for years and with Covid happening this year, I had to take a break from her services until the island reopened. When it did, she took every precaution to keep us, her clients clean and safe. She takes information for contact tracing, requires a proper face covering during the entire time you're in the shop (except for upper lip waxing), she takes your temperature upon check-in and makes sure you sanitize your hands when you enter. There's a first time for everything, why not be it with someone who is knowledgable and has the bedside manner of a friend you've known for years? Reading all these reviews just reaffirmed and gave me comfort when I decided to have my first time with Cariann. (teehee) Nice and clean sanitary room with AC (it was especially awesome today because it was HOT). She explained step by step what she was going to do and used the soft wax first. The first two strips I'd have to say are the most painful because it was my first time. She did teach me a breathing method to make it less painful called, "blowing out." While she was doing her job, she was talking story with me, which really helped calm me down and made the process easier and faster. She had this hard wax thingy, which was really intriguing...haha you'll see what I mean. All the reviews are true, you really do feel like you're going over your friend's house. 9 MONTH UPDATE! I am still a regular with Cariann! Since my first visit back in May 2011 I have regularly gone to upkeep my Brazillian. Today I am still just as happy with Cariann's services as I was back then. She is always consistent in her work. Even as a regular customer I still get the same high quality service that I recieved the first time around. Everything is always very clean. In fact I have actually noticed a few upgrades! The procedure itself usually takes about 20-30 minutes so I am usually in and out in no time. She still uses the same procedure and two different waxes, and eases you through. A couple things I appreciate with Cariann though is that she is always willing to work with your scheduling! Makes the world of the difference for me as I have a tight schedule. Also that her customer service is superb. Visiting her for maintanence feels more like catching up with an old friend. She is very friendly and makes you forget the awkwardness of the situation. As I mentioned the first time I am not a small girl...I am extra thick and very self conscious but Cariann is very professional and makes the experience a good one. Is it still painful? Sure. But going back regularly thins the hair out and I can assure you that eases the pain by a whole lot. First time is always the worse after that the pain lessens with every visit. ***Lastly I requested she do my eyebrows and for the first time in too long my eyebrows are perfectly matched, nicely shaped, but still thick just like I like them. Pros: The temperature of the wax was perfect, No double dipping, I Loved the smell of the wax, it was nearly painless and she works fast :) Cons: I received a text from her 11 o'clock pm the night before my wax to tell me to download forms to bring in the next day. Every appointment I received a reminder text informing me of paying cash only and late fees and no show fees. I guess it felt " All Business " and lacked warmth which didn't feel very welcoming. Cariann is a godsend. Sure, it's a little strange to drive to a house in a residential neighborhood to get your lady parts primed, but hey, can you argue with a solid 5-star rating? I'd say not... Her business is located around the back and upstairs and is small, but very clean and professional. She's very good at making you feel comfortable. I was a first-time client and had no idea what to expect, but not only does she make an effort to get to know you but she also talks you through the process and (I love this) EXPLAINS why she does what she does and how to make it a little easier on yourself during the process. Did it hurt? Sure. Was it worth it? Absolutely. It's been a week and I've followed her guidelines for aftercare and have only had one ingrown hair start to pop up, which was quickly put down with a little cortisol cream and exfoliation. It's hard to feel someone that you are comfortable with especially when they are all up in your lady parts. She made me feel like I've been friends with her for years. In a moment of desperation I was searching yelp for someone to get a wax from and I stumbled across Cariann and frantically called her. I was a little skeptical because I'd read that she waxes out of her home, but my skepticism went out the window within 3 minutes of meeting her. She was very professional and does not double dip the sticks in the wax. She made me feel very comfortable, or at least, as comfortable you can be when you're exposing yourself, but still. Being addicted to thong bikinis comes at a price, but thankfully, since I found Cariann, that price isn't really all that high! I had been going to a place in Pearlridge mall for my brazilian waxes, and I would always leave with an exceptionally sore lady area and an extremely light wallet. My friend told me about Cariann, and I was a little skeptical with her working out of her home, but on my first visit, I felt silly for even thinking that! It was extremely clean and comfortable, and Cariann is very personable and fun. And now, what everyone worries about: The pain. Brazilians hurt. There is really no way around that. That being said, Cariann works very quickly and has a breathing method that completely takes your mind off of it. She uses a combination of hard and soft wax, so that it's easier to handle. I have never had pain after leaving and even during the waxing, it is 100 times more comfortable than my experiences with other estheticians. She always works with my schedule and is very flexible and her pricing is awesome. She also uses a punch card system that offers discounts for referalls and every 5th wax. Cariann only accepts Cash, so make sure you bring it! I have forgotten before, and I had to drive down the road to the ATM. Not fun. Parking is always available on the street. read more

Let me tell you my story of finding a new place for waxing after my person of 10 years, moved to the mainland! 1) I needed a place that did Brazilian and eyebrow waxing. 2) I researched YELP and found Cariann 3) I called her and her message says to text to her, so I did. 4) I immediately received a text back with a link to her app to schedule an appointment 5) The APP is very user friendly. You can pick what type of service you need (it lists her prices on there also) and then you pick your day and time that is available 6) You will then need to enter your credit card information as if you don't show up to your appointment, you are charged 50% of your services. **Don't panic! This is common with top professionals in the industry. They can not waste valuable appointment times for people not showing up. 7) I immediately got a text confirming my request and 2 minutes later got another text from Cariann agreeing to my request and my requested time/day. 8) I then received a text 36 hours before my appointment to remind me. At this time, you can cancel if you need to and not be charged anything. 9) I drove to the house she works out of, very easy to find. Sort of near Radford High School. 10) It is a residential neighborhood with plenty of street parking right in front of the house. 11) Walk on the right side of the house, there is a walk way. Go up the stairs and go in the door (take your shoes off!) there is a brown leather bench to sit on to wait for her. 12) The house is not air conditioned but again.. don't panic.. The room you go in as COLD A/C. 13) I was 10 minutes early. One girl came out of the room, Cariann said HI and would be right with me. I could hear her cleaning the room. 14) The room is small but adequate for what needs to be done. She gives you a fresh towel and baby wipe to clean your area first. She is VERY easy to talk to and very easy to be around. 15) If this is your first time or 100th time, you will be fine! She will walk you through the entire process. 16) After she was done, she leaves for you to get dressed (if doing bikini or Brazilian) and then comes back in to do her payment. She accepts all forms of payment. Her prices are right in line with the industry standards. ** I have found my new girl!! Thank you Cariann and I would highly recommend her. Please keep in mind that she does work out of a home so it is not your typical "spa" atmosphere. You may hear the TV going or kids playing in the other room. This review is way way long overdue. To sum it up: Nothing short of fantastic. I actually look forward to waxing appointments. It feels more like I'm going to a friend's house to chat instead of getting your hair ripped out of your skin. :) The prices are fantastic, and she gives a lot of great advice to help ease the pain that I didn't get from other places, and she's even dispelled myths about things to do pre-waxing, and tells you the real dos and don'ts involved with the process.. And on top of that, the sessions go by so quickly. By the time it's over, you're like "That's it?" And then you book your next appointment for 3-4 weeks later, because once you go to Cariann, you will instantly become a regular. As for the session itself, it's very hygienic. She uses a new stick for each wax application and always wears gloves. She blows on the wax so that it isn't too hot and so that it doesn't burn or irritate your skin too much. And something else that I really like about her is that she always says sorry and apologizes if you have discomfort because of any tugging or heat. She's very sympathetic to her customers and tries her very best to make it the most painless experience possible, and that's something that I never got from any other salon. I've even been to one place (which I will not name) where the lady literally told me "yeah, it'll hurt, so you've got to suck it up." Never again! She's mentioned to me that she's thinking of opening up an actual salon, so when that happens the location will change. So for those of you who feel skeptical about the location being at a house, the salon location will be a better fit. In addition to that, she's always making upgrades and occasionally tests new products to find the best fit for her costumers. And now as of a few months ago she accepts card! So if you're not the type to carry cash with you or stop by the ATM before appointments, the card will help make things a lot more convenient. If you haven't gone to see Cariann yet, just go. You will definitely not be disappointed. But good luck getting an appointment because as you can see from all of these yelp reviews, she has quite a few regulars. ;) read more
