One of my favorite stops whenever I visit Vienna.
This is a terrific place to explore a variety of great Austrian wines in a relaxed atmosphere. Make sure and ask lots of questions of the wonderful hosts, Stef and Imo. They love to share their knowledge of Austrian wines. There is a simple menu, but one of the secrets (for those in the know), is that Imo is a terrific cook and with a day or two advance notice, she can whip up a custom multi-course dinner for your group. Eulennest (Owl's Nest) is also a wine shop and a perfect place to pick up a nice bottle of wine to be enjoyed with friends. Here's a challenge, find the wine stool which has a plaque which reads "Janet and Chloe". The dedicated wine stool was a going away gift when my ex and I moved from Vienna about 10 years ago. Chloe is my Dog. :-) It's a place where you feel that they are truly happy to see you. Just make sure that you go to the correct location on Operngasse in the 4th district. There used to be an Eulennest in a different location and hotels have been known to send people to the wrong location. read more
