Yum!!! I had the sweet potato and pumpkin curry for takeaway and it was DELICIOUS. Whilst I had to wait a while to receive it, it was worth it in the end: a sizable portion of both curry and brown rice and lentils for a low price of £8.50. I asked for the curry to be mild and it was spicy for me but soooo good. Really enjoyed it!! And at least two if not three servings.

Brixton Village Market is apparently the place to be for eating on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Having heard great things about honest burger we were keen to have an afternoon of beef. Although with an hour's wait for a table..it wasn't to be. We had timed our arrival poorly and by two o clock most places in the market were already full. This left us with Ettas Seafood Kitchen. On arrival it smelt a bit like walking inside a chippie, or perhaps a harbor side Fish Fry in the Caribbean, either way the oil in the air wouldn't be doing our clothes any favours. As I write this our coats are at the dry cleaners, my iPhone smells of oil (got to be the case?) and I've only just managed to shampoo the smell of grease out of my hair. But maybe that won't bother you, and it's all part of the 'experience'. To be fair, It didn't bother us while we there, and it was the menu that really drew us in. We tried a bunch of seafood dishes, the crab dumplings with chili sauce, steamed sea bass in a spicy salsa , whole crab, plate of fish and chips, seafood soup and a side of rice and peas. The crab dumplings looked great but unfortunately were more dumpling than crab. My steamed fish was tasty, but overly salty and a little on the small side considering the £12 price tag and lack of any sides (other than two or three token slice's of small onions and slithers of potatoe). The whole crab left the best impression despite being a rather messy affair, although we were happy to see a finger bowl of hot lemon was provided. Other than forgetting a side dish of griddled Aubergine and Courgettes service was friendly. To finish we shared a chocolate fudge cake with Cornish ice cream. good but nothing spectacular. Having visited the Caribbean last autumn I have to say the fish dishes were pretty authentic, flavoursome and similarly spiced. However the open plan kitchen means you'll probably still be thinking about Ettas long after you've left; taking a little bit of the meal with you..but maybe that's the idea..

My wife and I chose this place for our last dinner in London before heading back home to DFW. I had…read moreread about this restaurant in some top 10 lists for foodies visiting London and was dying to check it out. First, it's not in the busy part of London where you would expect a restaurant of this caliber to be but rather it is in a very blue-collar neighborhood on the south side of London. It is a VERY cozy place with only seven tables but that is how they keep the quality and experience so great. The decor is as if you are on an old fishing ship. Reservations are highly recommended but we got there right when they opened (7pm) and thankfully they let us have a table. After being seated the hostess showed us the days specials and they ranged from fantastic scallops to lobster with every choice as good as the last. My wife and I chose the Chef's Choice 8 course dinner. The dinner comprised of a delicious sardine sandwich followed by a fillet of night perch which was then followed by lobster that melted in your mouth. Then we had a pallet cleanser of a light peach sorbet with a shot of vodka poured over it. The meal resumed with a grilled piece of pork belly (I got the "meat" choice) while my wife had a grilled hallibut (she got the "fish" choice). The next course was a warmed cheese (I believe it was gruyere) in pastry accompanied by a small mixed green salad with aged balsamic. The dessert courses were a delicious crepe with creme bruille filling and the end course was a pear puree along with a chocolate pudding with a hint of mint. We loved this place even though the name sort of threw us off at first. When you hear "The Lobster Pot" I imagine a bunch of seniors getting off a day-tour bus to a casino at a truck stop or something but this experience was far from what I first imagined. I would highly recommend spending some of your tourist dollars here at this restaurant.

A delightfully decorative place complete with seagulls singing sea shanty classics on loop. Terrified but glorious goldfish adorning the cabin window walls, really every maritime detail had been thought of, even staff in cabin costumes, it was as cheesy as the lobster Thermidor. So fun. I loved being bibbed up too, I like knowing things are gonna get messy. The Meli, a melee of seafood; half lobster, sea bass, spicy grilled perch, razor clam (touch over done), squid kebab (could've been flavoured more) but all in a sea of buttery champagne and avruga sauce. No tide could hold me back from wanting to lick my plate or use this as a moisturiser, oh my golly so delicious. It came served with enough perfectly cooked veg that my mother would approve of too. Soft butter, less surprise from the proprietor at our arrival and this place would have had a perfect score. Overall our waitress was lovely and the food was really darn good.

I recently had a 3 course set meal for £15, where I started with their Bradan Rost kiln roasted salmon, then the pan fried gilthead bream with braised fennel and a a side of chips, and rounded off with apple crumble and creme anglaise. They were not stingy on the portions, which made the £15 even more worth while. I highly recommend their Bradon Rost pate, with a hint of lemon, topped on some oatcakes. The mackeral pate isn't half bad either, served with brioche and shallot marmalade, an excellent combination. Oh yes and one must try their soups, whatever they have at the time, go for it as it is always a delight. There is a lovely dessert list, of which I would definitely say to go for the sticky toffee pudding, as it is beautiful. There is a comprehensive wine list. I like their Riesling, Whitehaven from New Zealand, it is one of my favourite wines in general, and goes very well with the fish dishes.

My mom's lobster did not have a side of melted butter. And as she dropped the food she did not bother to ask us if we need anything for our meal. So food is good. Service needs more training.
