I just want to adjust my review from 5 star to 4 star. I have tried returning to this park the last few months but it has been tough! Parking is constantly full, the free parking that visitors have to settle with local paid parking. I'm not sure if this is a pandemic crowd thing-will try accessing during the winter. read more

The Chinook and Coho salmon are currently spawning in local rivers ... I'd never heard about it or seen it until a neighbour told me about it last weekend. Gord and I headed to Etienne Brule Park yesterday afternoon. We've never been to this park so it was fun to check it out. We headed up the Humber River and followed it to Dundas Street W. There are six dams and we saw salmon jumping in half of them. The changing leaves were gorgeous! Though we didn't see any salmon make it up and over, people were cheering and encourage the salmon. It was a fun afternoon and I'm glad we checked it out. read more

BOTTOM LINE: More than just jumping salmons, LOL. What can I say about this park that hasn't already been said? Come in early October and watch the salmon jump up the six (!) dams along the Humber River. Come in late October and watch slowpoke salmons collect their Darwin awards (crying face emoji). There's a path for people. There's a path for bikes. People and cyclist seem to stay in their lanes for the most part. People "fish" here, and by that, I mean stand in calf-deep water and take their pick of what looks fresh. This park is infinitely more enjoyable to walk through than High Park because there are actually trails and it's level (yes, I went there!). Finally, pro-tip, on your way out, it's worth heading to the other side of Humber River and drive/walk down Home Smith Park Road (it's a one-way street). It's much more peaceful on that side. read more

We visited this park last weekend and had a really nice time. The park is huge and you can walk along the path next to the water. Many people were here having bon fires and picnics (I'm not sure if you have to book a fire pit or if you need a permit. You might want to check if you want to have a bbq here.) The path has lots of spots to venture off the trail and enjoy quality time with your Covid bubble. The park also has a bike path. We arrived at an hour before dusk and didn't get to see how long the trails were but we both want to venture back for a picnic, walk or picnic and bike ride. The river in this park has lots of man made waterfalls. It really is beautiful and a nice place to visit in the city. read more

I visited this park back in September of 2014 and I liked it very much. It is very true that it feels like a "secret" park, as it's kind of tucked out of the way. The only reason I know it exists at all is because of Lee, for whom it is a major part of his cycling route. It is very pleasant to go for a walk and watch the water, or lie on the grass and look at the trees. There's plenty of wildlife to keep an eye out for in the river. read more

It was a mild morning in Toronto and I went for a run through Etienne Brule Park and up the South Humber Trail. I must say that it's now my favourite place to run (sorry High Park) in the West End. I ran up along the Humber River, right by forested trails and pass 5 levees. There's just something about the sound and sight of rushing water that is so calming. Further along the trail is a small playground, a tiny baseball diamond and a basketball court. If you cross the Old Mill bridge, you can run along the west side of the Humber River as well. Best place to start is at the park entrance/parking lot by Old Mill Road. Go for a walk/run/bike through this trail. I guarantee that your worries will melt away or your money back... in Philippine Pesos, amortized over 30 years at 0.001%. Enjoy! read more

I rode through here on a bike ride along the Humber Valley path. It was very pretty, with a good mix of water, trees and smooth paved bike paths. Would be a good place to stop for a picnic or stroll through on foot. I want to come back in the fall when the leaves are changing colours! It's one of those places I didn't seek out but am glad I discovered...a hidden gem in the city :) read more

What is not to love? Beautiful space along the Humber River. Ideal for sunset strolls, leisurely bike rides and sunrise jogs. There are also nice grassy spots for picnics and drum circles. From the park the path along the river winds north toward a bridge over the river to James Gardens and beyond. The area is beautiful and accommodating to both bikes and pedestrians. If you do bike, note that there are a few areas (such as the bridge over the Humber) where you have to walk your bike for a short stretch. There are also areas where the walking/jogging areas coverage with cycling areas (or are not perfectly clear) so watch out for those who are meandering along. Parking is available for those who live a bit further afield. read more

It's a beautiful walk along the Humber River but I find the people who frequent this park are pretty stuck-up. Most likely because the houses in the area are occupied by "well to do" folk with snobby attitudes, who perhaps feel more entitled to use this park. And don't get me started on the cyclists. Whipping by you like they own the place, despite clearly posted speeding limit signage. It's dangerous, especially when they're turning corners. Saw a child almost get run over once, and the sad part was, the cyclist got defensive and upset that the child was "in the way". It's neat when the Salmon are running and you can see them jumping upstream, heading out to spawn. Fishing is allowed, just make sure to check regulations before you go (ie, no fishing at certain points in the river). read more

This is a great park that stretches a long way up the Humber river. The southern end is especially popular for picnics and barbeques, and in the summer there's usually an ice cream truck hanging out in the parking lot. Be warned that there aren't too many entrances and exits along the length of the park, so unless you're going a fair way, be prepared to turn around and come out the way you came. It's also a bit dangerous by the river in storms or after thaws, since most of the park is a flood plain; I remember one winter when it became almost impassable after huge slabs of ice washed up everywhere. read more

This has become my favorite park... even more than High Park. It may not be as sensationalized, but I love how it's somewhat of a "secret garden" just further down The Old Mill Inn. We live less than 10 minutes away and my husband and I take a lot of walks here to see the changing of the seasons. I can't wait to take out our bikes again as Spring is finally here! There's a pedestrian lane for those who want to walk or run, and a separate lane for cyclists. I like how the Humber river runs through this park and sometimes just sitting at one of the benches is all you need to get all your wits back to face another week. Somewhere near the end is a path on the left side that leads to a bridge going into Lambton Woods Park. I like seeing families and couples enjoying a day out too, and little kids having a good time on their scooters or bikes. No matter how crowded the parking lot gets, there always seems to be space for everyone. Dogs are welcome too of course, and once we saw a cat as well! read more
