This was one of my favorite biking trails that I've encountered in my travels. It is long (over…read more450km/280 miles), and actually comprised of three interconnected sections, mostly along Lake Ontario: Etobicoke (west), Toronto (central) and Scarborough (east). I only had the pleasure to ride along the Toronto Portion. Within those 280 miles, you have 182 parks and natural areas including numerous beaches, 31 communities, and over 170 marinas and yacht clubs. Part of this trail also includes the Thousand Islands, providing access to the archipelago, and its beautiful scenery. The trail is one of the best ways to venture outside and see the Ontario coast line. But as of recently, it is now unlawful to do so via motorized bikes/scooters- so don't be afraid to get out an e(h)xercise.

It's a short walk and it is very well marked, a quarter mile walk that I would call "easy" but it is absolutely not handicapped accessible. The falls are stunning. They cascade 17 meters (55 feet) in a low roar and if you are patient, you might manage to be here completely alone. Otherwise, there are people who don't understand how to behave in nature. Do a good deed today. If you have a trash bag in your car, bring it with you and I'll bet you can find a couple of pieces to pack out and dispose of properly. I recently ventured off to Hamilton to check out Tiffany Falls & Sherman Falls. This waterfall is one of the most captured in the area and is stunning in person during winter. Make sure to wear appropriate gear like icers if you are going to check it out. I lost count of all the people that were slipping and sliding all over the place while there. Also I was surprised to see it being busy and highly suggest going when it is not. If you do go, be mindful of where you are walking. There were a lot of frozen patches that had water running underneath. All in all it was still an experience embracing winter and checking it out.

An elevator takes you down 70m go the base of the Niagara Gorge and onto a beatiful, well maintained boardwalk trail. FYI, It is not a long trail. This trail takes you right up close along the Niagara Rapids. Unique view compared to the typical Nigara Falls. You walk back the same way you came to get back to that elevator which leads you back to the entrance/gift shop. Washrooms located accross the street. Option for a shuttle that goes to and from Clifton Hill area (about a 10min drive) from the central Niagara attractions.

Visitors are able to go down near the water and walk along a parallel boardwalk, which gives you an amazing view of the rushing whitewater. This attraction is also an excellent opportunity for photography. I was able to take a lot of beautiful photos, and the scenery made it easy to capture some memorable shots. The sound, movement, and force of the water made the experience feel peaceful and exciting at the same time. I also appreciated that it was self-guided and easy to navigate. You can move at your own pace, stop for pictures, and really take in the view without feeling rushed. Overall, I really enjoyed the White Water Walk. It is a simple but beautiful attraction, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Niagara Falls, especially if you enjoy nature, scenic views, and photography.

From here you can walk over to Dundas Peak Overlook. The falls itself is quite pretty and it was soothing to listen to the sound of the waterfall. A portable toilet is set up at the parking lot area if there is an emergency.

Don't forget to go to all the three kilns and also the "hole in the wall". Gives a good adrenaline rush for a short time. The walk amongst the rocks is calling as well and when you reach up you see all the crevices that you can jump. Be careful there as we saw some hats, sun glasses etc at the bottom that once fallen there is no way getting them back. Some hidden spots that are just amazing for camping, but alas there is no camping allowed. (Video uploaded). One last plus for this location you don't pay any parking fees.

The rocks along the wall on the trail are VERY sharp, so excercise caution while you're hiking here - it's a LONG way to the store for band-aids ;-)

This is a review of the 99 Steps trail, located in the Thornton Bales Conservation Area…read more Located in Newmarket is a short 4 km loop trail called 99 Steps. It's located on 19th Sideroad between Dufferin and Bathurst. You'll know you're there when you see cars parked along the side of the narrow road. There is a small parking area for 9-10 cars at the trailhead. The trail starts with steps heading down. I don't know why it's called 99 Steps because there are only 80 steps (I counted). The trail is well maintained and has clear markers. There were only a couple of spots where it was unclear where the trail continues. The trail has some moderately steep downhill paths, so bring a walking stick if you have knee problems. Unfortunately, when I visited last week, a portion of the trail was closed, so it felt more like 2 km roundtrip. Overall, I thought it was a very nice trail and I'm looking forward to returning during the autumn when the leaves change colors.

4.5 Because of the pandemic, I've been trying to find more…read moreoutdoors-y things to do and I've been having that itch to go on a satisfying hike. This trail connected to another named 99 steps is located in King city just 10 minutes from Upper Canada Mall. You may bring dogs here on leash. Parking is extremely limited, about 10 spaces and I wouldn't recommend parking on the side street. There have been reports that you will get ticketed about $50 for it so I recommend you to wait until someone leaves which was only a couple minutes for me. First off... please please please research the trails before you go. It is a good idea to do this for any trail because there can be trail closures/diversions that can change. For example this one is connected to the Koffler scientific reserve at joker's hill which is part of the U of T research. They have sections closed off for scientific research. I recommend googling it to see which sections are closed. This trail is rated as a moderately difficult meaning that it is very technical with hills, tree roots and some rocks which is normal for these types of trails. Wear good shoes with good traction to protect your feet. In the beginning, they make you start off with going down hill with the steps although there's only 80 (counted). You can walk only the 99 steps section or go further out and walk the larger loop that includes koffler. In total, it's about 6 kms if you walk it all and took about an hour and a half for me who walked it sorta quickly. . I thought the trail was fantastic. Blazes (paint on the trees) well marked in the beginning of the trail. FYI. Single paint=trail is straight, 2 stripes, left higher = trail turns left, right higher = trail turns right. Unfortunately, like another review said, the blazes disappeared at the second half of the trail and the all trails map isn't all that accurate so I walked an extra km by accident, but found the correct trail back and it's a single trail all the way back to the steps. I recommend downloading the all trails app and following as gps for that bit, but maybe I'll contact the conservation to make the blazes so people won't get lost. Still gonna be back because it's so so beautiful! Thanks for reading my long review/tips lol.
