This was such a fun and cool experience. I really loved it! Very organized and I loved all the fun facts they had around the walk

The line was long and hot but the walk was worth it. Didn't take but maybe an hour total, with slowly walking and getting snacks. But remember it can get hot.

Class 6 rapids

Find the time to spent 45 mins to an hour here, it is well worth it. You take an elevator down to a tunnel that leads to the viewing platform and walks along the class 6 rapids. The color of the water and the standing waves a quite a sight to behold! This was our second time visiting and it was just as awe inspiring as the first. Such natural beauty around the area and the park system is superb in their commitment to allow access and keeping everyone safe.

Wow. This attraction is simple. The bus drops you off and you go down in an elevator and walk out onto the platform to see the water. Then you walk down another wooden walkway to the end. It has some stuff areas where you can go down the steps to get closer to the water. You would think this is boring but it was so exhilarating to see this water rushing 60 mph. It almost didn't look real. This was also part of our package plan. And we really liked it. We probably stayed a good 45 minutes just staring at that water I didn't want to leave. Go get you some nature!!

Awesome view of category 6 rapids

Up close and personal view of the Niagara Falls Category 6 rapids. We purchased the adventure pass which seems to be the best deal because it includes the 15 minutes ride via bus transport to and from a few of the activities out here. Once inside, you take an elevator down to a tunnel underground and walk through until you reach the viewing area. There is a nice wooden walking path ahead of the tunnel exit which leads to several platforms great for taking photos. It was cold 52 degrees and windy here today; regardless, we pushed through and spent about 30 minutes soaking in the marvelous beauty and power of these rapids. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend stopping in if you're here visiting.

I thought this was an overpriced tourist attraction at about $16 per person. We purchased tickets at the counter and took a very cool old elevator down 70m to the walkway. It's a short walk and the rapids are beautiful, but we only spent about 30 minutes there and I don't think it was worth the price. We arrived early in a weekday, but it was still pretty crowded. I may be spoiled because the day before we hiked on the US side down to a similar spot across the water. We had the place to ourselves and even got to dip our feet in the water. That was a much more enjoyable experience and free. If you are unable to hike, or can only walk short distances, this may be a good alternative. Otherwise, a hike is much more scenic and enjoyable.

Tunnel when entering and exiting

The view was nice, you could see the water rushing through while walking; you can also see a bridge on the way. If you are looking for a time where there isn't much traffic or people, I suggest to go in the morning. The tunnel when entering and exiting is a great way to cool down.

I had the adventure pass and although I had a scheduled time I was able to come whenever. We stood in line and took an elevator down. There was an observation deck and a walk way where we could walk by the water where you could see the impressive current.

This was included in our adventure pass. We originally weren't going to do it but it was explained to us as easily accessible with a wheelchair. It was for the most part (my husband uses a portable booster, which helps). It was a beautiful down to the base of the river downstream quite a ways from the falls. They are class 6 rapids and quite turbulent. More so than close to the falls! Lots of views and educational signs.

I consider this attraction to be a bit off the beaten path. It's awesome!! Why some don't come here, I do not understand. Perhaps it's because it may seem boring at first glance, but I think other than the boat ride up close to the falls, this could be the best attraction in town. It feels serene to walk down a path along the rapids, hearing the water flow and roar in front of you. It's also not too crowded and kept well clean, which can be a nice break from the mass influx of tourists that flood the area by the falls. Plan on being here for at least 45 minutes to an hour to truly take in the beauty of the rapids unfolding right in front of you. And while Niagara attractions may be pricey, this one is definitely worth paying for.

Walkway to the boardwalk from the elevator

There isn't much to this walk. Sixty minutes is the recommended amount of time to spend here. Will you spend a whole hour here? If you walk super slow, wait for other people to pass on the boardwalk (during these covid19 times) and walk to and from your parking spot and briefly browse at the gift shop it's possible. Otherwise, you'll spend significantly less time here. Your ticket can be purchased inside the gift shop or you can repurchase online, security will check any bags that you may have and then you wait for an elevator. A staff in the elevator will give you a few facts on the way down such as traveling down 70 metres to get to the boardwalk. There's a walkway to the boardwalk from the elevator and then there's a large platform to view the rapids and the start of the boardwalk on the other side. I liked the information plaques along the way providing facts like how high the waves are in the Whirlpool Rapids (5 metres!), the rapids travel at 48 km/hr, the waves are caused by the sheer force of the water being directed through the narrowing of the gorge and that these rapids are Class 6 (from a scale of Class 1 to 6). There's a few viewing platforms that extend from the boardwalk to get a closer look at the rapids. Beware that water from the rapids does splash onto the platforms. I wish that the boardwalk was longer so that we could spend more time beside the rapids.

We came here at the end of October and got to see the fall colors This was included in our 2 day pass at Niagara Falls. The walk was beautiful and the river was mesmerizing. I found the information about the history of the river to be insightful.

Gord and I drove down to Niagara Falls and did the White Water Walk. It's something we've been wanting to do for a while. "Experience a first-hand lesson in the raw power and peril of the Niagara River's Class 6 white-water rapids. The roar of the river provides a deceptive calmness, the perfect ambiance for your walk among the many viewing platforms that put you right at the river's edge. For those looking for an up-close and personal view of nature's power, you will not want to miss this. This self-guided tour includes many stories about the geology of the Niagara Gorge and the plant and animal life you may see on your visit to Niagara Parks. Travel by elevator down 70 meters to the base of the gorge and the impressive quarter mile of boardwalk that runs along the shoreline. Stepping out from the exit tunnel you will be immediately immersed in the soothing roar of North America's largest series of standing waves! Make your way down the self-guided boardwalk tour as you take in the crashing waves and enjoy an excellent view of the 410-million-year-old rock layers of the Niagara Gorge. Branching off from the boardwalk are several viewing platforms that allow visitors to get even closer to the Whirlpool Rapids travelling by at 48 km/hr. These platforms also provide some of the best photo opportunities in the entire park!" It was really cool to be down next to the waves! Were they strong and powerful! There was about a 20 minute wait to get down to the first viewing platform. Because of COVID, you could only go down with who you came with. Also because of COVID, it wasn't overly crowded. It was a fun way to spend a couple hours!

And as a bonus it was free, and better than all the tourist attractions we paid for. We came on a weekday morning and from the parking lot we took the Niagra Gorge Rim trail down to the Whirlpool trail. The view from the rim is gorgeous. The hike down is challenging, lots of stairs but very scenic and worth it. There's lots of greenery, views of the water and some shade. At the base there are rock benches where you can rest. We were pleasantly surprised to find the trail took us directly down to the water. We took a break on a large rock and even dipped our feet in the water. You can't swim here- there's fast moving water, but it's a peaceful place to relax. We had the place to ourselves and relaxed for about 30 minutes. We watched as the Aero Car went back and forth above on the Canada side and eventually a Jet boat came through and disturbed our serenity, splashing waves against the rocks. We retraced our steps back up the steep stairway trail. We only passed about 3 people during our entire hike. This is a hidden gem. There's a not very clean porta potty in the parking lot and the trail is dog-friendly. Lots of parking is available.

While staying at Harbour House Hotel on a recent vacation, I was able to utilize this trail to continue my training for an upcoming race. The trail begins at Ricardo Street and Nelson Street (directly across from Nelson Park, a TINY waterfront park) and continues along a mostly flat path, all the way to the falls {there is one major hill right before the Botanical Gardens!} The trail is paved and mostly shaded once you get past Fort George and is a 22.6km walk/run/bike to the Falls. FYI: the Botanical Gardens are a much more manageable feat if you're looking for a nice bike ride, about 15.2km (takes about an hour from the start of the trail)! The trail gets busy during the day, but is quiet in the morning, although you will regularly see bikers/runners and dog walkers even at early hours, but a much lower 'nosy' crowd. There are lots of picnic tables, grills and you'll even find some parks along the trail with bathrooms. I didn't see any water fountains. The trail has kilometer markers every km, which makes for a convenient way to track your distance. There are many small parking lots along the trail with free parking (occasionally you'll see a paid parking lot, this is most likely in conjunction with a historic house, just go a little further down the road, and you'll find a free spot in no time!) I highly recommend checking out this trail if you're a runner, biker or just looking for a beautiful walking trail while in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
