I really like these folks and I have always had a good experience with them until now. We must have caught the tech who (mis-) "diagnosed" the issue with our vehicle on a bad day or perhaps he was in a hurry to get the weekend started. Our car had a hard start problem. I made the mistake of telling them that the auto parts store claimed it had a bad starter (they couldn't test the battery because they weren't getting paid to take all the covers off of it). Etheridge charged us $230 to test "the starting and charging system". This I know includes the battery, or should. We picked the car up and after we drove it the first time and restarted it ...we had the same issue...no start. I took it to another repair center and they tested the battery and it was bad. We have a new battery for $700+ (counting the starter) that I believe we didn't really need. read more

The peeps at Ethridge are awesome. They are very reasonable and do great work. More importantly they are fair. My son just started his first career job and bought his first car. His check engine light came on and he stopped by Ethridge. They diagnosed and reset the computer in the parking lot and didn't charge him a dime. He is on a tight budget and I am sure they saw that. Had a bunch of work done and as far as I can tell most of it is OK. Shortly after getting the truck back, the engine check light comes on. Took it back, boom I get it back and the light comes back on. Fast forward to today, after getting it back for the 5th time yesterday for the same code, boom, light's back on. The last time I took it in it was there for 2-3 weeks. I was told that they couldn't find the problem, only to find out through their employee it hadn't even been looked at and they just haven't had time for it. So again, I picked it up for the 5th time yesterday after a fix was suddenly magically found. NOT. The light came back on after putting maybe 15 miles on it. My car had been broken down and parked for a year. I called to see when would be a good time to bring it in. They told me to bring it in a week from when I called, which I did. I called every week for 4 MONTHS before they ever even looked at it. When they told me what it would cost to fix it, I decided not to have it repaired because it was going to cost more than the car was worth. I told Craig I would try to have it towed home by the end of the week. Suddenly, after 4 months, he's in rush. He told me, "theres no trying. I need it gone by the end of the week". Whatever. I had it towed home and listed it for sale, as is, on Craigslist. The first person that came to look at was interested until we started it. I showed him the estimate i got and he was still interested, but when we started it, oil came pouring out of the engine. Needless to say, he left.There was NO oil leak when I took it to Ethridge so I called and told them what happened. As soon as I told Craig we started it, he said "Oh shit". He then told me that there was a box of PARTS in the floorboard of the car. There was not. He called me back and told me the parts were at the shop and I could come get them. Which I did. Problem is I don't know how to put them back on. It would have cost me $150 to have it towed back to him to have him put it back together, but he did not offer to do that.I understand that I chose not to have the car repaired, after waiting 4 MONTHS even with an appointment. But, I expected to get it back in the same condition it was in when I took it to them, not literally POURING motor oil out when I started it. I have NEVER heard of a mechanic returning a car with a BOX OF PARTS. read more

Sooooo I waited to place this review to confirm what I suspected and that is that this place is AMAAAAAZING!!!! Over one month ago I took in my ES 350 and with a bit of hesitation as I was reluctant to hear what the cost for the repair would be... it was waaaay less than half of what Lexus park place would charge and best of all it was done right and had remained right! Butch runs a classic auto repair shop that is always busy but still gets repairs done quickly. I love bringing a problem car to Butch and watching him diagnose the problem in less than two minutes. He'll tell you when to ignore the symptoms, when to kill the car, and/or prescribe needed and cost effective remedies in between. He delivers his verdict with a sense of humor, does what he says he'll do on schedule and on cost and makes the entire experience a joy (setting aside the fact that you have a sick car, of course.) The local garages often refer work to Butch simply because they know he's the best. Every city needs an auto repair shop like Ethridge and lucky for me we have one! read more

They wrecked / totaled my car!! One of their mechanics got into a road rage incident while test driving my car. They deleted evidence off my dash cam related to the accident. Then new owner, Craig gave me a hard time about getting the car fixed. He pieced it back together with wrecking yard pieces and acted like I was putting HIM at an inconvenience! He had my car for over two months and when I got it back the problem I brought it in for originally still wasn't fixed! He also kept the $6,800 I was supposed to get from the insurance company for the car's depreciation. read more

I have a 2005 truck with a little over 100,000 miles on it, I know eventually things are going to start to break, crack and need repair especially if everything under your hood is original! These technicians were able to pin point the problem (trust me it wasn't an easy fix) and get me back on the road within 2 days. They even pointed out some additional potential problems that could need repair in the future.... I never had a go-to auto shop before merely because I never needed one but these guys officially have become my #1 place to take my truck if I have any further problems or questions in the future....here's to another 100,000 miles (hopefully)! read more

The most honest and accommodating auto shop ever! I went to one well known chain and they wanted to charge me $2100 for shocks and struts on my Lexus. I took to Ethridge auto for another quote and he told me I had a lifetime warranty! Told me if I took took it back to where I had them done it would be free. No charge for looking at my car. Took it back for horn and cd not working and Butch fixed it so fast and again No charge! He insisted. Wow! Never been treated so nice and welcoming by a car repair shop except one in California. They fixed the clicking in the dash from the air conditioner and they repaired the driver side electric door lock. It cost about $700.00. The problem is, less than two weeks later, the window mechanism in the driver side door, (the same door they repaired the door lock in less than 2 weeks earlier), fell apart and the window wouldn't close. Again, in the same door the locking mechanism was repaired in. They claimed that the window failure was unrelated to the work they had done, even though it was in the same door they had disassembled less than two weeks before. They charged me an additional $325.00 to repair a problem I am sure they caused. I am very dissatisfied with their quality of work but mostly their unwillingness to repair a problem they most surly caused when they fixed the door lock. read more

Whenever I depressed my clutch pedal I got an unusual noise and a little binding. Craig and another mech took a look at it and made an adjustment and the problem was gone. Apparently some binding of a plastic piece. Problem solved with no charge and I was only there ten minutes! These guys are timely, helpful, honest, and nice. Made my day after a rough week. Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had getting work done on a vehicle. If I could give negative stars my rating would be a -5. The people working there don't care about you as a customer. They do whatever it takes to get you in and out as quickly as possible so they can take your money and forget about you. I brought my car in to get a piece replaced that had fallen off after hitting debris in the road and the first time I brought it in they didn't even order the part. They "inspected the vehicle" but apparently didn't notice the skid plate underneath the car was missing, even though they were told initially exactly what was needed. They changed a brake light and fixed an ac vent and charged their set labor cost to do about 15 minutes of work. When they finally did get the correct part in a week and a half later, they again charged the full labor cost($50) to do another 15 minutes of work. If you have a car that isn't ancient don't bother going here because they wont know how to fix it. Overall an awful experience and ended up leaving without even getting everything fixed.
