I went here because of the reviews, Yes I do have an older car but was well maintained. My first repair experience was good, their auto diagnosis recommended another repair , I've known about this issue before but got it fixed here because their labor charge was lower and closer to home so I decided to get it done here Ugh do I regret it, the day after the repair, I had noticed a small puddle of oil under my car which I didn't have issues with before, checked under my hood and noticed oil splatter, so I took it in and they claimed it was my turbo going out which was sucking in my oil and look into possibly getting a new car since repair cost would be outrageous... I went and got a second opinion, and this mechanic actually let me see under my car and showed that my turbo was perfectly fine and dry... the actual issue was that they never even sealed my car and the oil was splattered and leaking on the inside, I went back to IA and showed Matt and I got a "our bad" their mechanic who worked on it was new and so on Well they did make it right and fixed it correctly this time and Matt said they'd clean the inside of my engine of the oil that was everywhere...everything seemed fine until couple days after I had noticed another puddle, I had checked my liquids and noticed my coolant was down to nothing , filled that drove home, I went to get a second opinion and was told there was a small puncture on the inner engine area of the radiator, I could only think this was the cause of IA from cleaning my engine of the oil mess....wouldn't you? and the other mechanic thought the same... I did call Matt in regards to this and asked could this be an accident from cleaning the inside of my engine, wow his tone definitely changed and was very defensive on it... I discovered Innovative about 6 months ago and have been back twice since. They have very good prices on Amsoil synthetic oil changes. I stopped taking my 2011 Infinity G37 Convertible to the dealership for oil changes because the guys at Innovative say that they report oil changes to Carfax. So the car's warranty will remain intact. I've also taken my wife's car there. The guys there are always very friendly and really know cars. They don't try to sell you more than you need or ask for. I love these guys! Joe John was very personable and engaging in explaining how their shop works. 'The man behind the counter' *is* the guy you're dealing with. Matt is the mechanic who worked on my car, he called and gave me an update after fixing what I had it there for and was ready to let it go at that even though I had asked for him to give the car the once over and let me know in order of priority what should be done to it to keep it working for me for another year. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I went for a state inspection and the service was very fast and reasonably priced. They even discovered a problem with my tires and informed me that they appeared to have never been rotated (despite the fast that I have paid for rotation services at other shops previously). They took the time to answer any questions that I had and also referred me to a shop that works only on my type of vehicles for the future. I'm so glad that I stumbled across this place. I worked with Matt at the Grapevine location. He was very friendly and professional. He gave me a fair quote, and stuck to it. His quote came in under half of what Grapevine Nissan dealership quoted me! They put a new axle on, re-aligned and it was driving funny. Instead of giving it to me and letting me complain, he called before I picked it up and asked if I had experienced it before. We decided it was a new issue, so he put on a second axle and re-aligned again, same issue. He sent my original axle to be re-built, and put it on and re-aligned again. It's driving great now (decided it was probably a manufacturer defect and is looking into it.) More than anything, he was honest - he didn't just put the axle and send me on my way. He kept working on the vehicle until the problem was actually solved. Despite having to do the job 3 times to get it right, he didn't try to slide in any extra charges to cover the extra labor expense or try to make it seem like it was my fault to charge me more. (There have been so many times I've had to argue with people that I shouldn't be charged more for their errors!) He was respectful of my time and kept me in the loop. This place is fantastic! I have a work schedule that doesn't allow me to drop off/pick up my car before closing time and Innovative worked with me so I could drop off my car and pay over the phone so I could come back at my convenience to pick it up. As far as the customer service goes, they took the time to explain all of the issues with my car and didn't push me at all to repair more than I wanted to. They offered to provide me a list of all the recommendations so I could budget and plan for some of the more minor repairs. I decided to go ahead and have everything repaired and they informed me that there was a reduced price for performing all of the services in one day. Additionally, when they gave me the final total, it was about $100 less than the original quote. Overall, the customer service was excellent, the prices were competitive, and so far, it seems the repairs I requested have held up! I highly recommend Innovative Automotive! read more

Going to car shops give me extreme anxiety because I have been in so many situations where I was told that I needed to repair this and that for a ridiculous amount of money. Case in point, I took my Mercedez to get a second a opinion to Innovative Automotive (per my friend's recommendation) since my car dealership recommended I replace my alternator. I got a second opinion from Matt and he honestly and sincerely said that, he tested it over and over again even to a point of breaking, but there is nothing wrong with my alternator. He wishes there was, but nothing is wrong with it. A month later, and my car still works fine! Just pure, honest, hard working people that work there, especially Matt. It's a breath of fresh air to meet these type of people. I told my husband about them, and of course, he is skeptic. But my husband calls Matt to get his car checked out for a repair, and just that one phone call, my husband goes... wow, what a nice, honest, knowledgeable person! These guys might be good mechanics but I didn't get a chance to find out. I called on a Monday and spoke with someone named Matt. He was friendly and knowledgeable and I liked his phone demeanor. He spoke at some length about the problem that I was having with my car. At this point I felt good about taking my car to Innovative. On the phone, Matt told me that they couldn't get to my car today but that I could bring it in the next day (Tuesday). I agreed to bring it in the next day. I showed up the next morning at Innovative (on Matt's recommendation). I told the young man at the counter that I had spoken to Matt the previous day and Matt said that I could bring my car in today. The young man seemed surprised and mentioned that the shop was full for today. I again told him that Matt told me to bring it in today. He then says that he needs to go "ask Matt" and then leaves the counter area. He comes back and asks me if I could come back next Monday (a week away) because they were booked up. I again told him that Matt told me to bring it in. He began to repeatedly apologized but it didn't ease my disappointment. I simply walked out. My encounter with Innovative Automotive was short but not so sweet. I never saw Matt. read more

They were super confident the 1st go around. Took it back again and they were like its ok we fixed it now. Broke down again. I just called to get a price quote on something diagnosed at another shop (and I fully understand that the repair could end up being more involved than what the previous shop quoted me), and they refused to give me price quotes for the specific parts I was told I needed. I explained that I am just calling around to see what these specific parts cost, and I understand that the repair could be something completely different and I would not be holding that against them. He said that they use "highest quality parts" so they would probably be higher and still wouldn't give me prices. He said I could bring it in, pay to have it diagnosed and then they could give me a quote. Nope, I'll take my business elsewhere. I was hoping to find a trustworthy mechanic in the area since I moved here recently, obviously this is not the place for me. This place is fantastic! Recently, the oil light came on in my car. I am religious about oil changes and general maintenance so I was a bit baffled. I took the car to Firestone on the way home because I needed tires anyway. The guy there quoted me about $1000 to fix the oil issue, but couldn't really articulate what was wrong. I don't think he was being shady, just really didn't know what he was talking about. I took my car to Innovative. Within 5 minutes, the guys found the REAL problem, They took me out to my car to show me what was wrong and found something else that was easy and inexpensive to fix that definitely made my car much safer to drive. All in all, it was less than $250 to fix the problems. These guys were super courteous, prompt and respectful and were interested in making sure that I was safe. When I picked up my car from the owner the next day, he even gave my daughter a tour of the shop and showed her all of the cars. This place is the best in town! read more

2 VERY poor experiences! #1---In mid 2016 I took our Land Cruiser to Innovative for a simple oil and filter change. Provided them with 2-5 quart containers so the correct amount of oil (less than 7.5 quarts) would be available for them to complete the oil change. After picking the vehicle up and driving it for a couple days, I noticed there were no containers with what should have been the unneeded oil left in the back of the vehicle. I then realized that the mechanic at Innovative Automobile must have put all 10 quarts of oil in the vehicle! At that point, I immediately returned to their shop where the mechanic admitted he had, in fact, put all 10 quarts in the Land Cruiser! The co-owner (Joe John) gave me a business card offering a free oil change for the mechanic's mistake which I still have in my possession. As a likely result of the vehicle being filled with 2.5+ more quarts than recommended by their mechanic, the Land Cruiser started to burn 1+ quarts of oil every 300 miles versus none previously between oil changes at 2000 miles. Overfilling the oil to that degree can create significant engine issues. #2---Made the mistake of giving Innovative Automotive another chance. Early morning on 12/27/16, I took our BMW to their shop and left it there to have an oil and oil filter change done; to have a new fuel filter installed; and to have the mass air flow sensors cleaned. In addition I wrote up other engine hesitation symptoms in my desire to help with their diagnosis. Near the end of the following day (27th) I hadn't heard anything from their shop so I called to find out the status. I was told that Matt (the co-owner) was out sick and that he had left a message saying he didn't want to work on my vehicle! In that this response made no sense, early on the 29th I went to see if Matt himself was in and to talk with him thinking that he would agree they could do these simple services. Immediately and throughout our conversation he was combative even to the point of apologizing for his behavior by interjecting that he didn't feel good. Rather than any semblance of offering help, he simply stated repeatedly that his mechanic(s) didn't feel "comfortable" working on the car and that was final. He added that "we do not have to work on every car that is brought to us". I was stunned as the car had now been there over 2 days without their contacting me and now I am being told no work will be done. His saying "my mechanics don't want to work on the car" made zero common sense. And, if you think a previous customer being treated this way in the face of such simple service requests makes no sense, I would certainly agree. What mechanic can't complete an oil and fuel filter change? I then took the vehicle to a family owned repair shop in Colleyville where they had no hesitation in completing all the above mentioned work. If you care about how you are treated and desire mechanics that know how to change and add the correct amount of oil and complete other simple services then my advice is that you definitely should consider looking elsewhere. read more

Took my 1999 Isuzu rodeo to be assessed for problems with shifting and rattling noise. They were able to find the part for the shifting issue but it was going to be around $600 plus $300 labor and they recommended that it was not worth the money to do so. They were able to show me how to bypass the mechanism so that I could shift out of park. They also look into the rattling noise and found that there was a cover underneath near the heatshield that was bent and they unbent it so that it would stop the rattling. They just charge me the $50 fee to do the evaluation and nothing else. I think it was great customer service. I would definitely recommend them & would go back to them again. read more
