After having two kids, I finally made the decision to treat myself to a mommy makeover with Dr. Xu! I was so happy to come across Dr. Xu on Instagram because she was everything I had been looking for in a surgeon. I specifically wanted a female surgeon who focused on natural-looking results that were proportionate to my body, while also having impressive credentials--and being Harvard-trained was definitely a huge plus! Not only has Dr. Xu been amazing, but her team, Christina and Lorena, have also made me feel so comfortable, welcomed, and cared for throughout all of my appointments. For my mommy makeover, I had an over-the-muscle breast augmentation and front bra roll lipo. I'm only 3 weeks post-op and I've already been loving my results! My recovery has been going great so far, and I'm so excited to see how everything continues to heal and settle. :) read more

I am 6 months post brachioplasty on both of my arms with Ethos Plastic Surgery. I am really thankful for having encountered Dr. Xu. She was genuinely compassionate while also being honest about what she thought would be most effective for addressing my concerns. The value of being able to stand, undressed, with a new person, and to talk with them about your body is such an intimate act - and Dr. Xu handled this with me with expertise and grace. She validated my progress and was encouraging about future potential. Dr. Xu was professional and caring in every encounter. The office staff is welcoming and encouraging and humorous. The space is lovely and feels comfortable. The most wonderful thing is ... the outcome of the surgery, the contouring specifically is truly beautiful. I feel like I have my own natural arm shape and it feels freeing and makes me so happy. Surgery comes with scars and they are a trade off for me. I love my arms so much, even with the scars, which are still young and will heal and fade further. Scar tape works incredibly well and is a very low cost resource I highly recommend. For me, Dr. Xu's personality, her skill set, and her eye for esthetics are simply incredible. It is also clear that the office team is trying to provide an experience for their clients to feel welcomed, held, cared about, and supported throughout the process, including into recovery. One thing I would prepare others for who are considering this option is that the surgery center and anesthesiologist were an expensive part of the overall package. While I trust and feel confident with Dr. Xu, there are other people who also support the surgery. The anesthesiologist was trying to put an iv in my foot, which was painful, before Dr. Xu arrived and advised him to put me under first. That seems like something the anesthesiologist, with all his years of experience, should have known to do himself. The surgery itself went beyond the estimated time and both the surgery center and anesthesiologist had additional fees, increasing the overall cost by ~2k. With that said, I do highly recommend Dr. Xu to others. Go meet her and her team and hear her thoughts and see if what she can offer will meet your needs. read more

Choosing a surgeon is a huge decision, and I am so glad I went with Dr. Xu. She is incredibly meticulous and caring. You can tell from the first moment you meet her that she loves what she does and truly cares about her patients. The entire office staff is warm and encouraging, making you feel like family rather than just another patient. What truly sets this practice apart is their honesty; they are never pushy and even advised against certain treatments they felt wouldn't benefit me, which helped earn my trust. Christina was a standout throughout my journey, always finding solutions and providing support whenever I needed it. Choosing to have breast augmentation was a big decision for me, and I'm truly grateful that I chose Dr. Xu. From the very first consultation, she made me feel heard, respected, and completely at ease. I really appreciated how calm and confident she is. She never rushed me or pressured me, and she took the time to understand what would feel right for me, not just what looked good on paper. I had under-the-muscle Motiva implants (265cc), and the entire experience--from surgery to recovery--was handled with so much care and professionalism. The staff was kind, supportive, and always reassuring, which made a huge difference during recovery. Dr. Xu even called me the afternoon after surgery, and it truly meant a lot to hear that everything went well and that she was happy for me. I also received flowers from the team, which was such a thoughtful and touching gesture. The first couple of weeks were definitely uncomfortable, as expected, but the team was always there whenever I had questions. They consistently checked in on me to make sure everything was going well. Ladies, please take your time with recovery and follow all of their instructions--it really matters. Now, at Week 7, I can clearly feel the progress: the tightness has eased, my movement feels much more natural, and everything is settling beautifully. That stage really reassured me that my body was healing exactly as it should. After my post-op appointment with Dr. Xu last Thursday, I even went bra shopping--my new size is 32C, which honestly feels like a dream come true! I was so happy trying on different bras I'm thankful not only for the results but for how safe, supported, and cared for I felt throughout the entire journey. I'm already so happy with how everything looks now, and I can't wait to see the final results in six months. To any ladies who are considering breast augmentation: you deserve it. Take your time and choose a surgeon who truly listens to you and genuinely cares about your feelings. Lastly, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Xu, Christina, and Laura for taking such wonderful care of me. Bella read more

Ethos Plastic Surgery - Ginger Xu, MD - 6 weeks post-op (Motiva 265CC) - Plastic Surgeons Near Me - San Francisco, California

Dr. Xu and her assistant Christina were so amazing throughout the whole process of my breast augmentation journey. Dr. Xu was the first doctor I had a consultation with for my breast augmentation and I knew from the start it was going to be her. Not only does her natural work speak for itself, but her presence, knowledge, and ability to make me feel confident about my decisions made it easy for me to move forward with my surgery with her. I am beyond thrilled with how my results came out and my life has truly changed so much since my surgery. I feel more confident with my body and I am so excited to wear clothes that's I've had in my closet for years that just never looked right. This was my first ever surgery as well and Dr. Xu and the surgery center team made the experience so easy and calming (special shoutout to the nurse who held my hand as I went under anesthesia). I could not recommend Dr. Xu enough. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! read more

I had a serious complication from a previous surgery that left me deformed and in constant discomfort. My health coverage didn't cover this revision and I was left with a large, hardened lump on my lower abdomen that folded over when I sat, affecting both my physical comfort and emotional well-being. Because of this experience, I was extremely hesitant, depressed and anxious about undergoing another surgery. From the very first consultation, Dr. Xu was incredibly patient, reassuring, and compassionate. I postponed my surgery twice until I felt truly ready, and she never once made me feel rushed or pressured. She took the time to listen, understand my fears, and respect my decisions. Because I had developed seromas from a previous surgery, I was especially grateful that she supported my decision to keep the drains in longer for my peace of mind and safety. The surgery itself ended up taking longer than expected, but the results exceeded my expectations in every way. What truly sets Dr. Xu apart, however, is the level of care I received after surgery. She recognized that I was visibly stressed and emotionally impacted by my past surgical experiences. Rather than overlooking that, she took my mental health seriously and even recommended additional aftercare with a hypnotherapist. That level of compassion meant more to me than I can put into words. She didn't just help heal me physically -- she helped me heal emotionally too. I would recommend Dr. Xu to anyone without hesitation. Her staff was equally amazing -- warm, personable, and incredibly responsive. Asking questions never felt like a burden; chatting with them felt like talking to longtime friends. They patiently answered the countless questions I had and made me feel supported every step of the way. I am deeply grateful for Dr. Xu and her team. They gave me back my comfort, confidence, and peace of mind. read more

I had a tummy tuck and 360 lipo with Dr. Xu, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. From the very beginning, Dr. Xu and her entire team have been kind, supportive, and genuinely invested in my recovery and results. Dr. Xu is not only a highly skilled surgeon but also very encouraging throughout each step of the process, which has meant a lot to me. I'm still in recovery, but I already feel so much more confident and comfortable in my body. I originally had gone to another surgeon for breast implants and had a terrible experience. My implants were not what I asked for and could be considered botched, so I decided to ask for a second opinion from Dr. Xu. She was not only extremely professional but also compassionate and sympathetic to my situation. She described in detail what could be done to fix my issue and gave me the reassurance I was looking for. I really felt like she was looking out for what was best for me. Ultimately I decided to get them removed, and I chose Dr. Xu to do the surgery because of my positive impression of her during the consult. The surgery went smoothly and I am so glad that I ended up choosing to work with Dr. Xu. I cannot emphasize how amazing she was to be able to help me through one of the more difficult experiences of my life. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Xu, her office staff and my entire experience with my breast augmentation. From the beginning, the patient coordinator Christina was extremely informative and easy to talk to. All my questions were answered and I felt reassured that I was in good hands. Dr. Xu provided her expertise and suggestions to achieve the result I wanted, but also empowered me to make my own personal decision to go over the muscle and made sure I understood the difference and the risks. At my pre-op appointment, I was gifted a lovely care package filled with massage oil candles, scar oil, salve and a stress relief mist all from a local small business, which I thought was such a nice touch. The surgery went smoothly and recovery was better than I expected. Dr. Xu even sent me a bouquet of flowers and checked in on me after the surgery. Now I am 6 weeks post op and I am thrilled with the results. The incision scars are so small and everything is healing perfectly. I will definitely be recommending Dr. Xu and her team to anyone interested in plastic surgery. She is the best! read more

I just had my 6-week post-op appointment for my breast augmentation procedure, and I am so excited to write this review. I cannot emphasize enough how AMAZING Dr. Xu, MaryAnna, and Christina were in making my experience from start to finish the best possible one I could imagine. I have been wanting this procedure for 15+ years and have researched other plastic surgeons/been to other consultations. As soon as my husband and I met with Dr. Xu, I immediately knew I wanted to move forward with her for my procedure. At my consultation (or any other appointment), I never felt rushed once. Dr. Xu carefully listened to what my goal was, along with all my concerns. She and Christina were even taking notes the whole time, ensuring that my goals and concerns were documented. MaryAnna also quickly responded to all my additional email/text questions after the consultation, so I always felt supported! Now being 6-weeks post-op, I am healing/have been healing extremely well, because of Dr. Xu's holistic approach and guidance. I followed her pre-op/post-op wellness plan (which is amazingly detailed) to ensure I was getting the right nutrients and care for a fast and smooth recovery. I was able to stop pain meds only 3 days after surgery and haven't had any issues/complications. My results are even better than what I imagined. I provided Dr. Xu with an inspo pic of what I wanted and she nailed it with 1 pic!! She's literally a wizard! My results are exactly what I wanted and I'm obsessed! I'm also super impressed with how tiny the incisions are. I think I could go on and on about how great my experience was with Ethos. Thank you so so much Dr. Xu, MaryAnna, and Christina! read more

I had the best experience with Dr. Xu. The whole office was very kind and welcoming since my first consultation. They answered all of my many questions and really listened to what I was looking for. Dr. Ginger Xu did an exceptional job on my surgery. While healing took time, her work is beautifully done, and she has truly made me feel beautiful! I would highly recommend working with Dr. Xu and her team. She is an exemplary professional, kind, personable, thoughtful and thorough. She was a recommendation from my dermatologist. I really appreciated that she did a complimentary consultation, especially when a lot of plastic surgeons charge $200 just for a consultation. I have some chronic health conditions and family history that complicates recovery and she was very considerate about all of it. The surgery center she worked with was excellent and the recovery process was very smooth because of how prepared I felt. I'm almost 3 months out from my procedure and I'm so glad I did it. It turned out flawlessly and I'm so happy with the results. Every time I go into the office for a follow up everyone is so nice, this really is a lovely practice and I can't recommend it enough! read more

I was turning 40 and thinking seriously about liposuction and researching plastic surgeons in the SF area. Everything about the process with Dr. Xu from start to finish was very seamless and comfortable. Her staff was very professional and responsive. Dr. Xu was genuine, listened to my concerns, advised me against liposuction in certain areas and explained her reasoning. I felt taken care of every step of the way, and Dr. Xu was available and called to check on me immediately post-procedure. Our follow-ups have been great and she's closely monitoring my scars. (As I believe some other reviews have mentioned, other plastic surgeons require you to pay up from several hundred dollars just for a consultation, and at least the rates I was quoted from others seemed very steep in comparison to Dr. Xu. I was really only deciding between Dr. Xu and another SF surgeon, and this other surgeon's office (after taking a hefty deposit for a consult) called me 2 hours before my consultation appointment to tell me that the doctor would not even see me because my alleged BMI was too high. First, this actually was factually incorrect. Second, this other doctor had my stats and information for months and didn't bother to review until the day of the appointment. This interaction alone put me off to any other doctor and I basically decided then and there that I'd be better off in Dr. Xu's care. And I was. No regrets, and glad I did this for me.) read more

Dr. Xu is one of the most skilled, compassionate, and empathetic surgeons out there. I can't recommend her enough, and once you're under her and her team's care, you'll truly be in great hands! read more

Dr. Ginger Xu is incredible and super sweet during the whole process. I went to her originally for a breast augmentation after much research to find my ideal surgeon. She was knowledgeable, kind, and patient while she explained the procedure to me. During the consultation, she observed my lower abdominal scar with uneven tissue resulting from surgery due to a birth defect and suggested she can also fix it. I hesitated since I heard from the previous MD that the only option was "tummy tuck" and was advised to wait until after future pregnancy. Dr. Xu explained an alternative option which was an abdominal scar revision. I was interested and agreed to both procedures. On the day of surgery, Dr. Xu and the nurses took such good care of me. I was not nervous since the staff was very comforting and checked on me frequently during both pre-op and post-op. I am now 3 weeks post-op, and couldn't be happier with my results thus far. I knew Dr. Xu would do great with the breast augmentation, but the scar revision on my lower stomach exceed my expectations. It was nice to see my stomach completely flat for the first time. Recovery was fast, and there was no need for me to take my pain medication after the third day. I can't say enough good things and this was the best decision I did for myself. I normally don't leave reviews often, but I wanted to write one as I know finding a doctor to trust with your body can be hard. If you're contemplating seeing Dr. Ginger Xu, I 100% recommend her. For the price, it was reasonable and just having her as my surgeon makes it worth it! read more
