I would strongly advise others to carefully consider their decision before choosing this provider. I had naturally uneven breasts before surgery -- one side was higher and the other was lower. The doctor recommended a breast augmentation combined with a lift on the lower side to correct the asymmetry. The original quote was $9,500, but with the additional lift, the total cost increased to $13,000. I agreed to proceed, trusting the doctor's recommendation. Unfortunately, after the surgery, my breasts are still uneven -- one side remains higher and the other lower, with no real correction of the original issue. The only noticeable difference is that the size is larger. In addition, the incision around the areola was done unevenly and closed poorly, leaving very visible and unattractive scarring. After healing, I also developed a hard lump in the breast, which has caused ongoing pain. I have had to return for follow-up visits every 3 months, and to this day, the pain has not improved. This experience has been extremely disappointing -- not only financially, but also physically and emotionally. Waited 1 month post breast augmentation to give my honest review. I've consulted with other surgeons in the city (SF) but what makes Dr Kim stand out for me was his credentials, experience, up to date knowledge & expertise, surgical technique (rapid recovery), fair pricing (SF standards), approachability, and most importantly his bedside manners. These were the deciding factors for me. As a patient who has VERY low pain tolerance, my primary concern was pain post surgery and Dr Kim assured me that with his rapid recovery technique, I would be in no pain at all. Consultation day: Dr. Kim answered all my questions and concerns in a way that I would fully understand. He never made me feel uneasy (I asked a lot of questions) and gave me enough time to try on sizers without the feeling of being rushed. A few weeks before my surgery, I was having second thoughts on the size and Dr. Kim talked me through it and even made me come back to his office to try them on again to help ease my anxiety. Night before surgery: Dr Kim personally called to check in on me for any last minute concerns. Day of surgery: Dr Kim did his final assessment and assured me that everything will be great. As a patient who gets very anxious, his compassionate and caring nature really makes a difference. Post surgery: I was very amazed that I did not feel any pain at all. Of course I felt pressure on my chest which was expected but there was no pain. After the surgical anesthesia wore off, I was able to move around at home and did light walking in my room. That night, Dr. Kim called me to check in on me to see how I was doing. Post operation days 1-3: Felt no pain, just soreness/swelling (which is expected), I was able to take a shower, walk around in my living room, raise my arms, and move around by myself. I was even baking already at day 3. The only pain I felt was back pain due to the sleeping position (you have to sleep upright for a couple of days to relieve swelling). But there was absolutely no pain from the surgery. Week1-3: Breast swelling is getting better day by day. Once the stitches were removed, Dr. Kim showed me how to properly care for it by using topical antibiotic cream and gauze. I also started breast massage as instructed. I was pretty much back to my normal self and doing things I normally do. I also did light walking every single day. By week 3, I started doing light Pilates and used light weights (2-5lbs). Conclusion: Dr Kim's bedside manners is truly admirable. As I've stated earlier, I have very low pain tolerance but my recovery was easy and pain free. Dr Kim's rapid recovery technique is truly the way to go and worth every penny. I'm in my one month post surgery and I already love my results. I highly recommend going to Dr Kim for his rapid recovery technique, natural looking results, and fairly priced surgery (SF standards). It amazes me how all my reviews on even different review sites are all gone. This is a shady doctor and from his revisions (two), I still have long term issues. I've had two revisions done by Dr Kim and both was highly failed. Not only does he blame my body, he also did not properly do the 2nd revision correctly which left my incision open and completely scarred. And again, he blamed my body for how it healed. My incision ripped open while healing and he did not do anything but told me to let it heal. In the end, he never apologized or took ownership of any of his malpractice/wrong doings which left me still battling his mistakes. I have pictures and scars to prove this but yet all my reviews have mysteriously disappeared. I would not recommend Dr Kim for revisions. Do your research. read more

great front desk personnel. the procedure room in his office was fairly small, just big enough to fit the procedure bed and a cabinet and a counter top that stored his supplies. i told him i was very nervous to heyy the procedures done because i did not know what the pain was going to be like. he played it off like it was nothing and that i wouldn't feel it due to the numbing(not true he had a very rough and heavy hand). during the procedure i was awake. when he injected the numbing he did not give any warning but started to forcefully inject me with it. extremely heavy handed and not considerate of my well being. he even pinched my lip with the forceps and ignored me when i told him. he did not stop to asses where the pain was until his assistant (the front desk personnel) told him that i had a hematoma forming on my lip. a literal minute after the numbing was injected he started to make incisions in my cheeks. again, he was very rough and when i asked for more numbing he said no because it should be working already. he dismissed my complaints of pain, and looked annoyed bc he would roll his eyes and was short with me. he seemed to be second guessing where the buccal fat was and was talking to himself questioning if he made the incision in the correct place. he even complained about how he was 30 minutes late for his dinner plans and was annoyed that the procedure was taking longer than expected. i would not recommend this doctor to anyone i know... ...because of how inconsiderate and unsanitary he was during the procedures. i work in the medical field and know when supplies are sterile (or even clean) and when they are not. for example if something falls on the floor, then it should no longer be used on the patient. schedule at your own risk. read more

Dr Roy Kim and his team are world class. I traveled to Dr Kim from another state. He revised work I had done a little over a year ago. The difference is night and day. We did the pre-op on Thursday afternoon at the beautiful, sparkling clean surgery center. Early the next morning I did not even sit down to wait. I walked in, signed in and was taken straight back. Dr Kim came in as soon as I had the gown on, drew some marks on me and we went straight to the operating room. The anesthesiologist put the IV in and I was gone. 10-15 minutes from walking in the door until I was knocked out. He does a 72 hour no pain treatment. I was stiff and had limited movement, but no pain upon waking. I did not take pain medication afterwards, either. He did more than one major procedures. Dr Kim came to where I was staying the next morning for the post op checkup. He personally called on the phone, not text in the days following the procedures. Hannah also called and text to check on me. They both promptly respond to questions and messages. I am 7 days out today. Due to the personal nature, I will not post images. However, the difference between how I look and feel now compared to last year with a different surgeon is unbelievable. There is next to no bruising, the inflammation is low, and the pain is very little, without drugs. I cannot recommend Dr Roy Kim highly enough. If you must travel to have him do your surgery, do it! I've spent the last 3 months correcting his work (had to see other doctors to do so because I was scared for him to touch my face again). Many injections and dollars later, I'm still dealing with discoloration and dissolving. Not to be outdone by his poor filler skills, let's talk about his Botox skills. He injected either too much or too watered down material too low in my crows feet and actually paralyzed my cheek. This left me with a wonky, messed up smile for months. Holy Moly! If I do say so myself I look pretty amazing. I saw Dr. Kim on a Saturday ( which was an added bonus). I felt I was looking a bit tired even with 8 hours of good sleep. This review is long over due. I was referred to Dr. Kim by my son's aunt who got her breast augmentation done by him and her results were amazing. They felt and looked so real. If real,natural looking breasts are what you are looking for, then I highly recommend him. I'm not really into the "silicone, super round" look. Consultation: My consultation was free and Shrina (receptionist) was always very delightful in every interaction we had. When discussing the size I wanted for my breasts, Dr.Kim was really good in explaining how to select the implant size. ***(Tip: when trying on the implants with the bra and you find the size you like, select a size up from that because if the implant is going to be placed underneath the muscle, then it will appear smaller than the desired look you wanted because the muscle compresses the implant)*** I originally wanted to have a size C chest size but after all was said and done and a year has passed and my implants have "dropped and fluffed", my chest size came out to a DD. Any surgeon will tell you that it's hard to determine what your actual size would be once your implants have fully dropped. I must say that if I had gone with anything smaller or bigger I would've of been very disappointed. Thank you Dr. Kim for assisting me with how to select the right sized implant. I must admit that I thought my chest was going to be smaller than what I wanted and was a little disappointed at first, but Dr. Kim assured me that they would reach its full size after about 6 months to a year. Everyone's body is different. I don't think my implants dropped fully until about last month which would have made it just a little over a year since my operation. He was very patient with me and answered all of my questions, which was a lot. Him and his staff made me feel very comfortable and safe the day of surgery. I went to Dr. Kim for a breast augmentation 10 months ago and he was absolutely amazing. I am very happy with my results and it turned out exactly just how I wanted. The staffs are also very caring and nice, especially Caroline (shes Dr. Kim's receptionist). Caroline and Dr. Kim helped me answer all the questions and concerns that I had. I started out with a medium A cup and came out with a full C, small D cup. (350 cc/ each side) I wanted to go with the gel/silicon but my age did not permitted me to so I went with the saline, which was perfectly fine too. I'm 5'2" and weigh about 110 and they look very proportionate to my body. I went in through the axillary (armpits). The incision is very small and I can barely see it anymore. It's awesome! The process to get everything done was fairly quick. I went in for my first consultation and Dr. Kim help me decide which size I would like to go with. I told him i wanted something that would look "natural". After the consultation, I immediately schedule my surgery date. (If you do decide to schedule a surgery date, make sure you will be able to make it because I tried to change mines and they said it would cost me about $600 to get the date change so I just stuck with it.) The surgery was about 3 hours long...at the surgery center near Dr. Kim's office. I decided to go with the pain pumps to help me with the pain and that helped a lot. Along with pain killers too of course. After that it's all a waiting game. Although, the first 3 days for me was HELL! It was painful, but it's all worth it now! Everything takes time to heel and Dr. Kim gives great directions on how to massage depending on which stage of recovery you are at. The followup meetings are very fast (10-15 minutes). Overall, a very GREAT EXPERIENCE with Dr. Kim! He is a super nice and young plastic surgeon that knows exactly what he's doing! I recently went in to Dr. Kim's office for jawline and chin filler. I went In unsure if what I wanted was necessary for my face or if I just wanted what I saw others getting. Dr. Kim was great! i got my breast implants from Dr Roy Kim on May 3rd 2006, I wanted a big C small D I am now a DD. 15months after my initial surgery i had to have my left implant repositioned as it was falling down into my arm pit, it still does today. I hate my breasts now, i used to be happy and now im so miserable sometimes i feel like ive the ugliest body When i went back to get my left implant redone he wasnt very nice neither were his staff. Dr. Kim used a special stitching technique and mesh to revise the capsular contracture that had developed progressively starting about 5 years after my initial breast augmentation by another surgeon. I did a lot of research on where to get the revision done, and Dr. Kim came highly recommended. I just loved his before and after photos better than any other Bay Area surgeons and I also much preferred his revision treatment plan to the rest. His rates were also the most fair in my opinion. I never got the feeling he was trying to nickel and dime me for all these extra fees like many other Surgeons' offices did. Also, his assistants went out of there way to get my implant covered by the warranty, which I appreciated. Dr. Kim and his team really go the extra mile. Most importantly to me though, are the beautiful results he achieved! My breasts finally look natural and even again - yay!! You have no idea how much or a relief this is. I'm only 2 months post operation and the swelling has gone down more than about 80% I would say. I would not recommend Dr. Kim! I had my breast augmentation done almost 2 years ago, but remember my experience like yesterday. During my consultation, he made me feel very comfortable. We decided to go with a slightly larger implant on the right side because my left breast is naturally slightly bigger, crease incision, silicone, under the muscle. The results: My breasts are still uneven. It appears he put the bigger impant in my left side, which made my right breast much smaller. Not only that, he made the pocket on my left breast lower, so now my left scar sits higher than the right. My left breast has a snoopy look, which I am planning on getting revised, but am having a difficult time trusting another plastic surgeon. Not to mention the horrific looking scar. I've lost sensation in the lower portion of both breasts. I can barely feel my nipples. He said that sensation will come back after some time, but it's been almost 2 years, and the sensation has still not returned. AND....last but not least, a few days after my procedure, I woke up one morning with excruciating pain in my right breast. I called Dr. Kim and it turned out I had a hematoma (internal bleeding that was pooling in my right breast). I had another surgery done that morning to remove my right implant, drain out the blood, stitch up the blood vessel, reinsert the implant and stitch me up. My co-worker had her breast augmentation done a few weeks after my procedure by Dr. Kim as well. She also has the same horrible scarring and a snoopy in her left breast. After almost two years, she is finally getting a revision done by another plastic surgeon in San Diego. In fact, she just left for the airport this morning, which reminded me that I need to let everyone out there who reads the reviews on Dr. Kim, to NOT go to him. read more

Wow, Colleen's experience exactly echoes mine, down to the details. I had thought about a breast enhancement for years and finally went in for some consultations a few years ago. I was disappointed to be told (most pointedly by Dr Grey) I had to be a size D if I wanted implants (I was only an A/B and wanted to be a B/C). Something about the size of my ribcage. (?) I was not interested in having my breasts be the first thing people notice about me, but I did want to be able to fill out a dress. I gave up on my hopes for the surgery, until I happened upon Dr Kim. First of all, while his office is not as impressive as others', his receptionist is super friendly and competent. In my consultation with him, Dr Kim was very attentive and listened to exactly what I wanted. He was patient in explaining all the options, along with what he thought were the best ways to go for me given my desired results. It was obvious from talking to him that he is incredibly detail oriented, as well as passionate about what he does. He even ordered smaller test implants for me, so I could try them out to find just the right size for what I wanted. Pre-surgery Dr Kim gave me homeopathic medicine to help with healing, which I haven't heard any other surgeon do before. On the day of the surgery, I was nervous, but totally confident in his abilities, and my overall experience with the surgery center was really positive. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, and they were all eerily attractive, like we walked onto the set of a TV hospital show. Post-operatively, Dr Kim was very good about following up with me, and was available 24/7 for concerns and questions. My scars healed so quickly, friends and family were amazed. Plus he gave me a gift certificate to Agent Provocateur as a thank you. Who does that?? (I'm now totally hooked on Agent Provocateur lingerie, Victoria's Secret will never do it for me again). Almost a year later, my breasts are the perfect B/C that I wanted, and they look incredibly natural. I love them! I, too, wish I had found Dr Kim years ago, though I'm SOO glad I waited for him. I now also see him for Botox, fillers and chemical peels, which he's very good at, and he charges less than most. Five stars all the way. read more
