In response to the response from this clinic I offer the following . I have never received a refund. I requested one to help cover medical bills resulting from an ongoing medical disfigurement. Instead of issuing a refund like a standard clinic, I was told it would only be provided if I signed an NDA. I refused to sign, and as a result, no refund was ever given. This is exactly what I mean by trying to buy my silence. I very clearly have an NDA in my email box from them offering 3k, in exchange that I remain silent and release them from legal action. Hello, I have been a follower of the Mabrie Facial Institute on Instagram for the past couple of years and have always been in awe of their before and after patient photos. I have even watched their lives when patients consented to be filmed while getting a procedure of filler. A couple of months ago, the Mabrie Facial Institute posted a story on Instagram about dissolving fillers. I had been going somewhere else for my filler and botox and began noticing that my filler placement specifically near my under eyes and cheeks did not look right anymore. I had previously gone to a top SF dermatologist's office who has a nurse doing the procedures and I ended up with very crooked eyebrows. So poorly done, she immediately gave me my money back. So I've been following the Dr. Mabrie for a few years now and after all positive reviews still till this year, I've decided to take the plunge :-D Everyone at the office is so nice. I was greeted by front desk who's always so cheerful. My first visit was with Kimberly to get my lips done. I did my homework and watched a few of the videos on their Instagram and was confident enough to schedule with her. I had a bad experience with an injector at a different place a few years back, so I made sure to look at all examples and information online and on any media platform. I was comfortable and happy with my experience. My upper lip is really thin but it goes forward at the tip, so when I explained my concern to Kimberly, she gave me some good recommendations to be done. She also made sure my bottom lip was full and projected so it balanced out with my upper lip, I noticed the difference . Crystal was the medical assistant who explained the procedure and answer most questions I had. Again, very knowledgeable and left me with a good vibe. Not to mention, the music request and lavender lights (they asked what my favorite cold wax prior to the appointment) was a nice touch! My second visit was with Dr. Mabrie himself to get a non-surgical rhinoplasty. Cool guy. I was supposed to come back and see Kimberly for my lip refinement appointment but Dr. Mabrie said he'd use the rest of my Restylane Kysse filler to touch up. Very kind of him. Note: They recommend a minimal of 2 appointments, one to lay down the foundation in the first injection, and then come back after a month or so for refinement. I think that is a great idea! I've noticed some practices only do one appointment and when they inject too much at one time, the filler seems to just spread everywhere. That is exactly what happened a few years back somewhere else. Anyway, so now I finally have a little bridge on my nose which I'm liking a lot! The tip does look projected, but I'm looking forward for my refinement to get a little more definition. I did also want to mention Rochelle the nurse who numbed me both times, with Kimberly on my lips and Dr. Mabrie with my nose- super down to earth and was very patient with me (I hate needles!) but definitely made my experience soothing. Matt was really cool, too.. I think that's his name. He was the one who assisted and prepped me on my second visit with Dr. Mabrie. I regret coming to this place. They failed on all fronts: 1. Dr's bedside manners; 2. service & remediation (to correct mistakes); 3. results/craftsmanship/the work done to my face; 4. Pricing 5. Appointment scheduling; 6. Refund and not allowing me to use my credit 7. Credibility / trustworthiness Always read the 1 star reviews...they are most telling. March 8, 2018 update: - Botox takes up to 3 weeks for its full effect, and should last for a few months. - It's been 8 weeks and I can already see the results of the botox diminishing. Botox is diluted, thus the effects are not as great. The doctor also uses pre-fill syringes - which is a big NO-NO since these meds expire, the patient has no idea when the meds were filled in the syringes, or how much dilution was used. All his fillers and products are way more expensive than other doctors. The doctor spent 10-15 minutes with me and called it his $300 consultation. This is definitely a situation where charging more does not mean better. He didn't even consult me on using botox, and came in and injected 3 shots in one side of my jaw area to treat my TMJ. When I asked him how much botox was use, I found out he INJECTED 4 TIMES MORE THAN I REQUESTED. A competent doctor would never inject that much of anything on only one side of the face, as Botox will create an uneven face. He let me out of his office like that. Only after complaining did he offer to balance the other side of my face, for "free". And my face was bruised and blood was coming out. This should not happen with botox! Red Flag (1) - Everyone is a sales person in the office. When I first called in for an appointment, the receptionist was selling him before she wanted to tell me the price per units. They didn't want to scare people off too soon because his pricing is higher than most other doctors. During the appointment, the assistant came in to see me before the doctor did. One of the first questions she asked me was "how much do you want to spend?" Red Flag (2) - The doctor is not booked out too far in advance and doesn't pay attention or listen to the patient's objective. I was in his office from 10:30 - 1:30 just for a botox shot. My appointment was at 11. I came earlier to get my paper work done. The assistant talked to me from 11 for about 10-15 minute. Doctor finally came in around 11:50 and talked to me for about 15 minute. He walked out and didn't come back until around 12:40. read more

I've attached the pre-appt emails. Nowhere does it say they need you to take off your makeup. Not that this issue is that important, but that they're lying about it. The receptionist also was totally inaccurate about the time the doctor actually spends with you- it's about 15-20 min if you're lucky. You'd think they'd be informed about this and be honest with this info as well; I asked specifically about this when I booked the appt and she told me he allots an hour for each patient, which is the entire reason I was willing to shell out $300 for his time! No one else charges this for a simple consultation- even top doctors in LA, as other reviewers have mentioned. Also, they spend a ton of time taking photos of you, having you take off your makeup, having you do an annoying iPad registration, etc, and the dr spent even less time looking at the photos than he did addressing my actual concerns, which was almost zero time and this is not an exaggeration. Dr. Mabrie spent nearly the entire appointment, which again I paid hundreds of dollars for, talking about how hyaluronidase works. This is not what I paid him for and quite frankly I don't care. I actually stated I want to move on from the topic, and then he got mad at me for doing so! So I apologized and asked him to finish. So he continued until the end of our time. Heads up to others who have dry skin- after they have you wash your face, they have zero moisturizer to offer you. I asked about it specifically because my skin is crazy dry- they don't have any in the place, apparently. FYI! He seems to have little respect for his clients, and an outsized ego to match. I've been going to Mabrie for about five years and I couldn't be happier. The staff is lovely and helpful, the environment is always super-clean, they follow and exceed hygiene, health and safety protocols, and the results are always natural, and take the individual's desires and aesthetics into consideration. I appreciate that they ask patients to let the injections settle and return for a touch-up as that settling gives time for swelling to subside and for a person to acclimate to their results. I also appreciate that they are transparent about their process, costs, and the expected time period for the injectables to last. I have never left looking "done", or even bruised. Having been nosey and looking at reviews from other folks, I was surprised that some are upset with policies regarding a consult fee (actually, very common in this field), and irritation that he did not do the process all at once and risk results that are suboptimal. I was so insecure of my lips, & so hyper aware of them for so long, but terrified of the ducky lips so many people have from filler. I loved that their office went over, in depth, what filler was. They were real with me, like 'girl you'll swell but don't worry it's normal' & made sure to be as precise & 'natural' as possible. She's truly a surgeon. Luckily, my lips barely swelled & didn't bruise w the exception of a small dark spot on my upper left lip. Like I was out of the office walking around SF all day, went to an in person interview the next day, & my lips were fine, not swelled & not that tender. I will fan girl this spot! Full disclosure I was super hesitant to get Botox in the first place... It's seems these days that every Booby, Sue and Joe does injectables so I spent my sweet time researching all the options in the San Francisco area. I was on the search for natural results and not a frozen face where I couldn't have some form of facial movement. I am 34 years old and I wanted some small tweaks not the job of whoever does the real housewives of lala land. Part of what drew me to Dr Mabrie's office outside of the vast amount of glowing recommendations was the fact that his office only does injectables (with the caveat of lipo on the neck). My first appointment went sooo smooth and I felt so welcomed at the office and the staff answered all of my questions and made me feel at ease. I was even more impressed with the fact that Kimberly, PA didn't try and do more injections than what was necessary. They offer complementary touch ups within a month if your not thrilled with your results. My results were exactly what I was looking for! They were natural and even when I went back for my touch up today, I could have easily waited another couple of weeks to have it done again. My results lasted for over 3 months. Booked a consultation @ $300 and paid ahead as it was requested over the phone & was told I'd receive a call at 11am the day before but never received a call. I drove to SF early since they ask for you to give an additional 30 minutes to make it to the appt but I waited at least half an hour+ for the Dr's assistant. I was lead to a room and told to wash my face, there was no moisturizer after washing so I sat there bare faced, extremely dry as the assistant took photos. After waiting for the Dr's protege, the consultation went off to a whole another direction, as fillers were suggested, 'the face slimming won't do much for your face concerns'. (what happened to 'face slimming works for everyone' over the phone?) Their filler prices were absolutely astronomical. I had expected a wonderful comprehensive consultation for the price of $300 and the consultation was about 15 minutes as they flipped through photos to 'show you how you'd look by looking at cases similar to your face' You will pay more for fillers than you'd pay for a mini facelift, honestly felt I helped pay their rent above Vera Wang and Chanel stores than for specialized opinions. Will go somewhere else for the same exact treatments. UPDATED 9/22/21 Someone reached out with a private message to say they called a few times before the appt. Not true, I had no missed calls from Mabrie. They stated 'if you'd like we can refund you'. I took the offer, then a few days later inqured about it and they refunded my consultation fee. I went in today for a full 360 facial treatment. I felt comfortable. We went through the procedure at my pace and the staff was very friendly. Dr.Mabrie was super transparent about the types of fillers he uses and where. I still have swelling as I just got the treatment done but I am excited to see how things look once I've healed. For years, I rejected outright the idea of having any surgical intervention on my face. Not only because I have always been mostly satisfied with my features, but because I always associated it with, let's put it mildly, unfavorable results. Google Images is not always the best reference to judge possible consequences. However, when you're half a decade into your 50s and you follow the suggestions of someone you blindly trust, you go for it. And I did last week, confident of the best results, with the fear in the back of my mind, however, that I would end up coming out looking different than I did. In fact, that was probably my biggest fear. I just didn't want to look in the mirror later and find out that face wasn't as familiar as it always was, or run into new and old friends asking me "did you do something to your face?". I'm upset because I wrote a very long review but Google says it was to long,look for my longer one on Yelp . This whole office is awesome including and not limited to THE DR.MABRIE! I have anxiety and this was my first time getting Botox(masseters)and paratid gland. For my tmg , grinding and wide jaw . It was even wider on one side. He noticed everything. He analyzed my face as a whole. Looked at prior pictures to tell me what he thought was going on. First of all the Botox didn't hurt at all! They gave me numbing cream . They gave me gifts like chocolates and a card. We have a plan going forward of future stuff the doctor and I feel I need. My grinding was gone almost immediately. Two weeks later face is slimmer and who would know that in itself can make you more attractive. They were compassionate and caring. Non rush. Erin my nurse is soooo lovely and kind. The whole office is beautiful and so friendly. Dr. Mabrie is an artist first and because of that he IS worth every single penny. So that's the only reason I continue going to this place Every time I have appointment there the dr will be coming to the room that I'm waiting in late two hours and sometimes more and when ever i go ask the front disk or one of the nurses they will said just give him a few minutes and the only thing he will say when he step to the room thanks for your patient. So last appointment i had it was on April 7, 2021 10:15 AM and the front desk said I can't wait in the waiting room because a lady already waiting thing i was like okay it's COVID she took me to the last room i went there another nurse came check with me asked me questions and send me to the waiting room , The front desk nurse didn't like it and came and told me just wait in the same room i will send the dr there to you . I started feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, I went to the room after one hour 30 minutes of waiting the nurse came back and said dr Mabrie having a consultation and then he's coming to your room , So they stopped my appointment to take some new patients. While they were all friendly and knowledgeable as I set up a consultation, there were unfortunately a lot of communication mishaps between me and the office. Because I was no longer in possession of the card that was used to pay the fee, the office had to mail a check refund. I'm not sure what was going on in their office, but it took several months to finally get that hefty fee refunded to me (I forget the exact timeline...I cancelled the consult sometime last fall and didn't receive my refund until late spring/early summer). While I'm not upset at any of his office staff over this experience, I do wish there was a better line of communication throughout. From the looks of all of the before and after photos of Dr. Mabrie's work, it seems like he does an amazing job. Is it possible to give Dr. Mabrie and his staff 100 stars? I mean honestly, it's that great. Not only does he do everything in his power to make sure his clients are happy, comfortable and honestly...feeling spoiled just by walking into the office, but you can clearly see that his office staff truly love being a part of this team. He seriously has the best staff! You can tell a lot about a business by the atmosphere, and trust me, this place is full of warmth. Dr. Mabrie goes out of his way to make sure you are you're best you. (did I just say you 3 times?...well, yes I did, because he cares about YOU). He has snacks, beverages, A NEW VIP LOUNGE and he asks about your music preference to make sure YOU are comfortable and taken care of while in his office. OK, lets get down to his work... I'm a researcher. Before I let anyone touch me, I read reviews...good and bad...I make sure that whoever I am seeing is the best. I search every website I can to make sure I'm in good hands. During my research Dr. Mabrie's name kept coming up. Coincidence? I think not! His name kept coming up because he truly is the best. Then I made an appointment, and another, and another. I've been a patient for quite a while and I have never regretted or rethought any treatment I've received. I discuss my concerns, what I'd like done, and ask what he sees that could be improved (yes, I ask that). I have NEVER felt pressured to do anything, and he has never tried to do more than I have asked. He discusses everything. He truly takes pride in making you feel and look your best. As for the bad reviews I just read (which I am totally shocked to see), I don't now what office they went to, and feel like maybe they selected the wrong name when making their comments. The claims that were stated in them were absolutely nowhere near the truth about this office. Dr. Mabrie is an upbeat, kind, FUN, courteous, incredibly skilled and extremely professional person. His office is amazing to visit because he makes it that way. The office is beautiful, the staff is amazing, the atmosphere is like no other, and the doctor is top notch. I don't see how anyone could leave his office feeling anything but amazing. I always look forward to my visits. I truly believe the fountain of youth is in Dr. Mabrie's office.
