I really love Ethan Allen furniture - the quality, the craftsmanship, as well as the aesthetic loveliness always make my heart flutter! I really like their older lines compared to the new as the current is a bit too 'modern' for me. They offer pieces such as sofas, loveseats, sectionals, chairs, chaises, recliners, ottomans, tables, media cabinets, dining tables, bedding, mirrors, office desks and chairs, garden seating and umbrellas, as well as accents (tables, artwork, clocks, florals, rugs, lighting, etc.). We've purchased many pieces, such as an armoire, an entertainment cabinet, a couple of bed frames, night stands, dressers, and tables, made from cherry to honey to walnut. The one thing that I am disappointed with Ethan Allen is their delivery process - it does take a couple of months for the furniture itself to be crafted (which you really can't blame them on) and be delivered; during the delivery, the furniture can have the possibility of having scratches and dents, and some of the drawers may not having the ability to open with ease (always check each part of the furniture carefully!) - some furniture had to be sent back, which requires even more of a longer wait. One thing to note is to never settle! If you notice that there is something 'off' or wrong with your piece, have the delivery guys load it back up on their truck - you are not required to settle with anything less, and the store has the responsibility of replacing it! I did appreciate in having one of the tech guys come and fix one of my drawers that had an issue and was not charged, as it fell under the warranty - just be sure to keep all your documents and statements for confirmation. You can set service appointments by contacting their customer service team by email or via phone. If you want a furniture to be delivered out-of-state, that can be arranged, and you'd be charged for that respective state's taxes and fees. Had a great initial experience... until a problem arose. Purchased a bedroom dresser from here a month ago. The sales associate was nice and very helpful and I was pretty pleased with the experience. Then a problem came up with the order and suddenly no one would return my calls. I noticed that I wasn't charged for delivery, but was supposed to receive it according to my order form. Took two weeks of waiting on an answer and then I had to call management. They ended up charging me $81 for delivery even though it was their screw up. I was a faithful customer until now. After being sold a protection plan for my two new couches that turns out to be a total sham, the manager says that the issue is between myself and who they contract to provide these plans (Guardian- google it and don't be the fool I was to spend the money). The manager of this location is completely inept. After 13 years of defending this furniture company I finally get why no one I know shops there. They are only interested in 3rd party commissions and getting your order in - after that you are totally on your own if something goes wrong. Save yourself the frustration! My bedroom set was delivered today. Everything went very well. The delivery men really did a great job of getting that well made and heavy furniture to the 2nd floor. The set is in perfect shape and fits as expected. My consultant, Jennifer Nippert from the Old Orchard store suggested that I get the bed in Charcoal to contrast with the other pieces of furniture that were in Brownstone. We absolutely love it! The bed is the focal point of the room and still blends well with the other pieces. Thank you for your design flair and your expertise. I would not have done it without you! read more

I have worked with Sue Sellers for over 20 years. Over the years I have walked into other high end furniture stores but Ethan Allen surpasses them. We are updating our accessories and art this year and Sue has done a wonderful job pulling it all together. Just when we think we have done everything, I find something else I have to have. My fiance purchased a sofa among other things at ethan allen we waited over 3 months for the sofa to arrive.the delivery guys damaged the sofa brining it up ethan Allan gave her a hard time finally 3 months later they came to pick up the sofa for repair.when they came to pick up the sofa they damaged my hardwood floors and my refrigerator also they did further damage to the sofa ethan allen was so rude to tell us after all that that they were not going to bring the sofa back they refunded the purchase price of the sofa .shame on them is this how you treat your customers we spent over $12.000 and we purchased everything as a set .WOW ethan allen you people are horrible no apology nothing i wouldn't recommend ethan allen to anyone please reconsider going there read more

We are moving out of the Chicago area to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and wanted a completely new living room/dining room for our new home. I saw a sofa from Ethan Allen online and went to the Skokie Ethan Allen location to see it in person. There, we met Sue Sellers, who has gone out of her way to give us a great designing experience. Sue thought nothing of pushing chairs across the entire store to see how they looked with the perfect sofa. Then she helped us coordinate materials for the sofa, the chairs and our dining room chairs - all this while keeping our very colorful art work in mind. Sue also referred us to an antique rug store, where we found the perfect rugs that bring everything together. Sue will go out of her way for you, even giving advice on other areas of the house for which we were not buying furniture as yet. We feel so lucky to have discovered the quality furniture that Ethan Allen has and also to have found Sue Sellers, whose genuine excitement and passion for design met up with our own dreams of a beautiful home for this next chapter in our lives. read more

I am surprised by the negative reviews?! We've had a wonderful experience at the Ethan Allen store in Skokie. I cannot say enough positive things about the store, and more specifically, the designer SUE SELLERS! We met Sue upon our first visit to the store about a year ago, and since then she has helped us furnish and decorate the entire first floor of our house. She's an amazing designer/decorator -- extremely helpful, smart, talented, and a complete pleasure to work with. Sue goes above and beyond to assure we are happy and confident with our selections and the overall shopping experience. She really listens and cares. I couldn't be happier with the furniture we've purchased through EA, the quality, and the level of customer service. We've always had great experiences at the store and felt very welcome. I also logged on just to leave a review for Sue Sellers :-) I've never had such a good experience buying anything. Business-like, clear, works quickly, but friendly and relaxed. I never had a problem saying "nope, no way" to anything she suggested, I felt no pressure. We picked out a GREAT couch. I am very much a "if you're going to use something every day, but it at high quality so it'll last forever" type of person. The couch will take a while, so if we have any big problems, I'll come back and edit this review, but I was really intimidated to walk into that schmancy expensive store and was relieved to have a terrific experience. read more

We purchased a Disney chair that was a floor model that we inspected well before purchase. And then we had to call 4-5 times before being tired of the whole thing and finally demanding to speak with the store manager. The delivery had not even been scheduled after about 2 weeks. So, the manager had the delivery delivery date firmed up for the following Saturday -- we're talking 3+ weeks after purchase for something that was just in the store. Delivery people did not pre-call to schedule and thus I had to stay at home all day waiting for them to arrive. When they arrived with the chair, I inspected it and noticed that it had additional wear-and-tear ... mostly on the bottom. I wanted to discuss things with store while delivery person was here, but ended up being put on hold for 5+ minutes. During this time, the delivery person "had to leave and thus was not willing to wait" ... in fact, I felt that he was indirectly pressuring me to just accept the chair as it was even though it was not as it was when I purchased it in the store. I ended the 'hold' call with the store and told the delivery person: "no, take the chair back". I am reversing the charge and will never do business with Ethan Allen again give that this is one of the worse experiences that I have ever had -- 3 weeks of delay, multiple phone calls, and the chair arrives with additional wear and tear, likely because it sat around for 2 or so weeks waiting for someone to handle the delivery of it. read more

We purchased a $3000+ custom sofa,.. When it was delivered it was damaged. Although the company is in the process of addressing the problem, it will be a major headache. We speculate that the sofa will be removed for repair - all at our inconvenience. read more
