I picked some tiles at this F&D location on Oakton. Easy to see from the street, easy parking. A friendly staff person greeted me and directed me to where I could pick up the order. My order was picked and helpfully placed on a wheeled cart. I brought out to my car, almost dropped a box of tiles (whoops!). Very helpful! read more

This store manager is NUTS. He does not allow any employees to communicate or talk to customers. The employees will state, "I am paid to be here, not to work!" So a customer spends alot of time to wait for one person and the manager is that only person. He is rude, nasty and unknowledgeable. Floor and Decor must be on the way to closing all their stores. They work with a new contractor for 2026. Installations made easy. Avoid them too. . Avoid this nightmare company. They claim they have 50,000-60,000 employees not independent contractors. They have 1000's of supervisors but cannot connect to one. I believe this company is an absentee owner with his airhead daughter working the phones. They know nothing, they can not find anything, and why Floor and Decor does not vet them is unknown. They are a waste of time. Hours spent just having them look up a work order that the girl has no training and does not know what they do. The claim all their installers for plumbing, tile, flooring, counters, etc are their own employees and not independent contractors. I believe they are 100% fly by night, take advantage of the consumer. Avoid them. It also appears they have multiple addresses and phone numbers, the sign of a 100% scam company. read more

Purchased a threshold for a shower which was the description of item by floor and decor returned within in a week wife loaded in car gently and item cracked, luckily learned of poor quality before installing. Went to return item they said can only give me same poor quality item or would not give any refund or any other accommodation per store manager. My family and friends will never shop at this non customer friendly store again, would rather go to Home Depot, Lowes, Menards that will stand by thier products. read more

Floor & Decor has a large selection of quality products, and at reasonable prices. For our recent kitchen remodeling project, we bought the backsplash tiles and grout from here. Virginia in the accessories department was very knowledgeable and helpful in the selection of what turned out to be quite a critical grout color choice. I'll tell you - grout color behind a semi-transparent glass tile can make a huge and amazing difference in the final appearance. And don't be scared off when the grout is wet (see photo). Virginia knew that some grout color photos match and some don't and it's best to use a physical grout color sample stick against a physical sample of your countertop. We are planning to change our floor since it's vinyl tiles. We visit this store to look for some good tiles that are perfect for our paint wall. We want our house to look like a modern house. I'm with my husband and he has a taste of what's good to choose. When we enter this place there are different varieties of tiles to choose from. I think you will find the design and color you need. We choose gray tiles. They have a nice and quick service so they packed our tiles in a box. Staff helped us to put it in our car since it was too heavy and heavy. We just give them a tip for good customer service. We will be back here to buy materials for our kitchen since my husband wants to change its layout after the contractor finishes our tiles. I find that this is one of the best businesses if you're remodeling and have to consider a variety of tiles colors grout as well as size again installation guidance. Their selection and tile whether ceramic porcelain or actual marble of some variety is much greater than the options that are available at the big box store. And we're comparing prices, I found that the sale prices at the big box store for a similar tile yet smaller was more expensive than at this location. The grout selection specifically with colors are important, and the selection was very thorough and everything was in stock. Besides tiles they do have laminate flooring as well as full thickness pre-finished materials. They also have shower doors as well as vanities with sink combinations. I ended up buying floor and wall tile plus corner soap dishes that would be installed during tile installation. Cabinets were ordered from a big box store and hardware like faucets were from a combination of big box stores and online. Things that can be replaced relatively easily were purchased online. Things that go inside the wall, I spent more on bigger name brands to assure that you could find replacement parts such as cartridges etc 10 years later. read more

Yes, yes, yes! Floor & Decor in Skokie is the best! I visited yesterday and was greeted at the door by Jake who knew every square inch of the store and every tile. No hard sell, just incredibly helpful and professional. In a short time I selected everything I needed with Jake's help. He even suggested a contrast color grout that complemented the carpet sample that I'd brought with me. This tile project is going to be stunning! Floor & Decor really has everything you could possibly imagine in their huge warehouse. My favorite aspect is the free design services. You simply cannot beat having multiple staff members whose sole job is to help with your selection and purchasing process. I was really under the gun because my contractor finished the demolition of the floors for my master bath, guest bath, and kitchen and was awaiting the tile. I went to numerous tile stores, but really struggled with knowing which size, design, color, etc. given the number of concurrent projects. I wanted a cohesive look, but not the exact same time for the entire house. I worked primarily with Cyndy who was fabulous. Once I selected one tile that I liked for the kitchen, she helped find a different tile for the two full baths. I also wanted mosaic tile for the full baths and Cyndy helped find complementary, yet very different mosaics for each bath. She drew pictures of her vision and really helped me pull all the projects together. She informed me of design techniques (e.g., having a diamond design adds sophistication and makes your room look larger) basic fundamentals (e.g., differences between ceramic, porcelain, marble, travertine, etc.), and how to make your room really "pop." Once I told her the room sizes, she coordinated everything (all materials needed such as grout color, grout sealer/maximizer, etc.) and I just had to go pick it up! I've also contacted Cyndy several times since about other design aspects (e.g., paint colors to complement the tile) and she has provided quick, excellent suggestions. I had a very pleasant experience today at this location because of EJ. I came in looking, but not exactly sure what I needed for my upcoming bathroom remodel and she was a pro the entire way. She helped me consider things I had not even thought of such as cleaning product limitations and so much more. Meh. Good selection and reasonable prices, but super odd customer service experience. I came here because I decided to do a really odd DIY project that requires one 12x12 piece of marble tile as the foundation for the piece. Someone online suggested I come here because they knew they sold individual tiles. I went to Home Depot first, and it turns out they also sell individual tiles, but before making up my mind I figured I'd come here since it's only a block away. The good news: they have a wide variety of tiles, including a much larger selection of individual tiles than Home Depot had. They were also cheaper at $2.39 for the cheapest 12x12 marble tile (vs Home Depot's $3.99). Not a huge difference for a single piece if you're doing a random project like mine, but if you're doing an actual tiling project, then that will add up over time. I meandered around to look at what else they had, and prices seemed decent (though I'm not an expert on what things should cost). Now, for the odd part. Maybe I came at a weird time when most of the staff was just waiting for Christmas vacation (I was here on the evening of the 23rd), but the only staff member to acknowledge me was a designer (I think?) who was clearly working with a couple on their project and leading them around to show them options. He said "hello" and then continued helping the couple (as he should). The rest of the staff completely ignored me. Normally I don't like being hounded and like to be left to my own devices anyway, and I'm more than willing to initiate a conversation if I need help. But, to be completely ignored without even a "hi" when I walk past and I'm literally one of 4 customers in the store at the time is a little odd. I walked past probably 5-7 other staff members and a few of them looked up as I walked by and then returned to whatever they were doing, but never said anything. I know I looked lost (because I was trying to find the right section), so I would think that someone would have at least been like "hey, can I help you find something?". That aside, even more bizarre was when I went to check out with my single random piece of tile. There was only one register open but no one there, and it turns out the staff member was helping (though it kind of seemed like arguing with) someone who was trying to do a return and had a bunch of boxes of whatever it was he bought. The staff member stopped helping that guy to come to the register, telling him to hold on, and then merely said to me "are you buying that?" when I was standing there holding the tile. (No "hello," or "did you find everything you needed?"). I then said "yeah..." but I was thinking "why else would I be holding a 4 pound piece of tile at the checkout counter if I wasn't going to buy it?" As the staff person scanned the item, she resumed the conversation with the guy trying to return his box of whatever (she still sounded annoyed by it), completely ignoring me while I was completing the transaction. Also, I don't know if it's normal, but she didn't give me a bag or anything for the tile, and it was super dusty (because it's marble tile), so something to protect my car and the tile would have been nice. Fortunately I had a spare Target bag in my car. Maybe they don't use bags and assume most people are buying tiles by the box, but it seemed a little weird. So, it was kind of a bizarre experience in that regard. read more

I've been living in my condo for about three years, putting off a bathroom update I'd planned when I bought it. Decided not to do a full remodel, just the floor, countertop, sinks and faucets. A friend recommended Floor & Decor, and this is the closest location to my city condo (an 80-minute roundtrip drive in weekend traffic). It's an enormous warehouse, with row after row of flooring and countertops. You'll save time if you have at least a general idea of what you're looking for. I didn't on my first trip and spent a couple of hours wandering around, getting totally confused. I was better prepared the second trip. I'd spent an evening on houzz.com and found a bathroom with the minimalist look I wanted. Printed out the picture and brought it with me. Within an hour, I settled on a light grey porcelain tile that matched the floor in the picture. This is much more of a self-service operation than the Tile Shop, but it's also much cheaper. No hand holding here. There are helpful associates on the floor to point you in the right direction, but they're not always knowledgeable about the products. However, most of the products have detailed signage. Once I'd picked out the tile, someone got me a cart and loaded it. Check out was easy. The store has a lot more than floor tiles. There are countertops, glass tiles and mosaics for backsplashes, and dozens of different colors of grout. I fell in love with the new dimensional wall coverings and wish I had a way to use them. There's a design department to help with renovations... probably best to have a reservation, as it was very busy when I was in the store. read more

I bought a floor tile from 3300 Oakton St, Skokie, IL 60076. I needed a particular size cut. The cut was successful. However, it was not precise to what I needed so I called back and asked if I could have one more adjustment made to the tile piece. The manager says that they do not cut tiles there. I remodeled three bathrooms and a kitchen all with tile from Floor & Decor. Out of convenience and simplicity I purchased all my tile from here, and in doing so I visited the warehouse at least a dozen times. Overall a nice selection and reasonable prices. Why only three stars? The customer service is spotty. Every so often I would leave having a great experience, but most often I would need to track someone down to ask a question or to help load a cart. I would also get conflicting answers from different people on what type grout or sealer was needed for certain tile. If you are already working with an interior designer who can help coordinate and visualize the final project for you, then this place is a great place to get tile. If you need help with the design, then I would go elsewhere. Their designers in actually must be sales reps, who, after multiple interactions with, I became less-and-less-and-less impressed with. After telling one that I wanted to avoid marble for my children's bathroom floor, she suggested some of the most expensive marble in the warehouse (and then logged the rest of my merchandise on her handheld for payment). Another one cruises the store picking-and-choosing who to help and pretending to be busy if it's not a full design question where he can show off photos of the one bathroom he has renovated. One time another customer stopped me in the store to ask me a design question--when I said I was happy to help but didn't work there, he said he trusted my opinion more than the people who worked there. read more

The place has a great selection of tiles for various price points and a lot of the little extra things you need as well. I have had no problem finding the exact tile I was looking for. They have a lot in stock so you shouldn't have a problem with the quantity you need. I like that they have a nice example block to show how the tile looks. They have that exact grout at the store too which is great. They also have wood flooring and other products as well. The staff isn't always that helpful, I feel like it is a gamble and either they know exactly how to help or they don't have the slightest clue. Overall, I keep coming back when we do renovations at my house because it is a great store. read more

Just remember - keep an eye out on price per tile, vs. price per sq. ft. (glass tile!) Big lesson from our first remodeling project. Otherwise, we had great experience working with Cyndy Alvarez taking us through design choices for two bathrooms with contrasting designs. We made appointments for each consultation and she was available for questions by email and phone in between. Once our contractor had measurements, we provided them by email and placed and paid for our order without needing to step into the store. (and made arrangements for convenient contractor pickup). Cyndy guided us with questions, walking with us through the store, looking at tiles that we picked out that resonated with us and started matching up options in terms of variations within a family of tiles, accent tiles, and grout colors. Floor & Decor is great with returns on extra tiles, whether singles or whole boxes. They were also flexible in terms of timing for the return since one project can transition to another, before the punch list on the first project can be completed which would require tile work repair. read more

Well bought some tile for a bathroom remodel and placed an online order to be picked up by my contractor. They picked it up just fine but after they installed them we had some left over. I lugged the heavy tile back to the store just to have them tell me I couldn't return them because I bought them as cases and not individually. Well I would have bought the last boxes individually if I would have know I could not return the excess. According to the online measurements on the Floor & Decor website that is what I needed to buy! So after spending over $500 I can't even return the excess...not even a credit! Great selection of different backsplash tiles to choose from, they even have a color display for grout which helped me a lot since I couldn't tell how the color I picked would look like after installed. Who would thought that are so many different hues of grey to chose from.
