On this day the stars were aligned - - I had some time to spare at lunch, the store wasn't too busy and distracting, Heather didn't have anyone waiting in line, and most importantly my back was aching and in desperate need of attention. I signed in, she showed me how to properly get onto the massage chair. It's a quality and sturdy piece of equipment - which was nice. Doesn't rock too much and I felt very secure. After she made sure I was ergonomically correct and comfortable she started the massage. She also asked if there were any areas I would like her to focus on, I pointed out specific parts of my back that were in pain. She made sure to hit them all up and incorporated them into her overall standard regiment. It was a relaxing and pleasant experience to say the least. Heather was very friendly, professional, and personable. She's easy to talk to, competent, and also very sharp and intelligent. She massaged up and down the spine, over the shoulders, the neck, the arms, and finished off with the hands and fingers. Even though we got caught up in good conversation she kept a consistent pace and remained focused to ensure it was a quality massage. Next thing I knew we were finished and she was about ready to close shop - that was the only downer - all good things must come to an end. I think next time I'll definitely add in an extra session because 15 minutes of Heather's therapy just wasn't enough. It was a potent experience that got me re-energized and it definitely helped make this a relaxing lunch, I felt much better. Since I never received a confirmation, I reached out to the owner the morning of my appointment to double-check. To my surprise, the owner called me back and informed me that my appointment had been cancelled and someone else was booked in my place. She also told me that my Groupon voucher had been canceled--something I was completely unaware of until that moment. When I checked my Groupon account, I saw that a refund had been issued without any notice. The owner claimed her assistant had emailed me to cancel the appointment, but later admitted that the email was never actually sent. I repurchased the voucher immediately so that I could keep my original appointment time. However, she then told me I would need to pay an additional $50 because it was now considered a same-day appointment. I explained that I never canceled anything--she did--due to the refunded voucher. After further discussion, she admitted again that the cancellation email was never sent but insisted it wasn't her responsibility to call me or follow up. She told me I was "wasting her time" and that I should be grateful because Groupon only pays her $83 when she normally charges $140 I was shocked by her tone and lack of accountability. Instead of acknowledging the miscommunication or trying to work with me, she made it clear she didn't see it as her issue.
