Dr Singer, the endodontist, did not see a crack from a CT scan, but indicated that he wouldn't be sure until he drilled inside to examine the tooth with a microscope. If there was a crack then the tooth would need to be extracted. Two days later I had the procedure. He didn't find a crack ... thank goodness! Since that molar had a previous root canal, Singer removed the old filling, disinfected the canal and repacked it. This procedure is called a endodontic retreatment. He save the tooth! Dr. Singer was quick and efficient with the procedure. You can tell he runs a tight ship. The office staff and assistants were very friendly and helpful. The ladies often asked if I had any questions.

I brush and floss daily, and I go for regular dental check ups and cleanings, so I'm not used to having dental issues. One day, though, out of the blue, I woke up to strong pain in my mouth. I went to see my regular dentist, who looked at the xray and told me I needed a root canal from a specialist. I knew Dr. Ramin Noghreian through my wife, who was a member with Dr. Ramin in the same business organization. I didn't know much about him professionally, however, so I travelled to Torrance on faith. And I'm glad I did! I was really impressed when they put me in an dental CT scan machine that just scanned my mouth. I didn't know such a machine existed! It's a good thing they have it too, because my tooth had not one nerve root, not two, but THREE nerve roots that Dr. Ramin had to artfully excise and then fill. Dr. Ramin made sure the experience was pain-free for me, and it went quite smoothly. The temporary filling Dr. Ramin put in place was so good that, when I went back to my regular dentist to get a crown put one, it took her almost 15 minutes to get it off! This is a state-of-the art practice that's also a family practice. Dr. Ramin's sister, Nooshin, is also an endodontist there, and his wife, Naze, is the office manager. You feel very welcomed when you go there. One never knows what the endodontist will find when he or she goes in to your tooth to do a root canal. (In my case, it was a 3-nerve "mess"!) So you want the best surgeon with the best equipment. I can tell you from personal experience, that's what you'll get at South Bay Endodontics!

I read some negative reviews on Yelp and Google but my experience with Dr. Safa was nothing but professionalism and expert care and treatment. I would give more stars if Yelp allowed it. I've had other root canals at other dentist offices a long time ago and they took over an hour to finish and it was painful. From setting…read moreup the initial consultation to getting the actual procedure done (on the same day), it was seamless. I was in/out of there in a little over two hours. Upon walking in to the office, I was welcomed by a nice staff person who instructed me to fill out some paperwork. I was then taken to a room for the consultation. Dr. Yu advised to have a root canal based on his evaluation. I was then moved to another room for the actual procedure after having anesthesia injections into my mouth. After some prep work done by his very comforting staff, it was time for the games to begin! I appreciated how his staff guided me through the prep work and explained what they were doing. It honestly feels really weird to have your mouth wide open while having strange objects being placed inside. During the procedure, I could see they were passing instruments back/forth. There were weird sounds, noises and smells. I never felt uncomfortable as they always checked in to see if I was doing OK. Before I knew it, the procedure was over and Dr. Yu went over recovery expectations and the like. Overall, it was a very efficient and comfortable process. What was great, he's very light-handed. I barely felt the numbing needle or the work he was doing to my dead molar. I was in and out rather quickly too. You know what's extra awesome? Once the numbness went away, my jaw did NOT hurt! It's like I did not have a root canal.
