I went to their Glendale, CA "clinic" at 1300 S. Central Ave in Glendale next to Glendale Memorial Hospital to inquire about getting diabetic shoes for my father. I called their Palmdale office earlier that morning to ask about their Glendale clinic and was given the address by Regina. When I showed up to the building there is no signage anywhere on the exterior of the building or doors about Essential. When I went inside there is a counter that appears to be for a physical therapy company. I asked where Essential was and was pointed to an empty reception opening where there were 2 sheets of paper with their name on it. No licenses, seller's permit or anything. The staff behind the counter said they were there on Tuesdays only. I don't know how Essential can call this a "clinic". Wouldn't recommend this place. read more

My wife was having serious foot pain and trouble walking after weeks of dr. App. And referrals we where sent to essential Orthotics Prosthetics.we told the staff about her problem and that we had a vacation planned in 3 days. They told her to come in right away 4 hrs later we arrived at there location witch is very clean and easy to get to.5 min check -in and the staff lead my wife to a room checked her feet made impressions after micheal explained what was going on and why there was pain He then fitted her with a new pair of shoes and made custom insoles to make her more comfortable for our vacation! Matthew Algeria is phenomenal. I had to get booked for a brace fitting in a hurry due to, the all too common, mess up at my doctor's office. Matthew was okay with seeing me at the end of his day. It was an experience that made me very aware of the need to go against initial judgements. No one was around when I got in, and after a few "heeelllooooooooo"s I sat down and waited. Once Matthew called me in I found out that his support staff was not in and he was hustling and doing as fabulous of a job as he can on his own. With limited knowledge given to him by my doctors he gave me the absolute best advice for doing burning man with my knee. He's down to earth, relatable, and has a great bedside manner. read more

Sadly for our community this business is a Medicare and Medi-Cal billing factory. Customer support and product support is nonexistent. Evidently the entire purpose of this business is Medicare Medi-Cal billing NOT wellness and well-being of the patient. Remember, Medicare and Medi-Cal are receptive to our feedback. Businesses established for the single purpose of billing will be exposed and short-lived. Please help our community by reporting illegitimacy and supporting a proper legitimate patient focused business. Example. For a cervical collar that can be purchased on Amazon for $75 and 15 minutes with a "practitioner" this business billed Medicare $533. Naturally I have reported this abuse to Medicare and my Medicare supplemental insurance policy carrier. The medical device is entirely inappropriate for my needs and has broken two times. After the second event the device was returned. Does anyone believe essential orthotics will return the money to Medicare? Why are antelope valley consumers treated as second rate? Why do we tolerate this? This business is here to make a quick buck while providing little to no service. These are nothing short of carpet baggers. read more

Do not go here , ask your insurance for another referral. They're horribly mismanaged and disorganized. They got my referral over a month ago and the "specialist" wasn't even there to see me , yet they called me 3 days in advance to make sure I'll have the portion ($$) that my insurance didn't cover but they didn't even bother to look at my paperwork to see what I needed. So on top of the "specialist" not being there they didn't even have the equipment needed for my injury . Point being , even if he/she was there it would've been a pointless visit . You have a choice in where you get your orthotics so I would insist your doctor chooses Essential Orthotics & Prosthetics for your device! Essential Orthotics resolved a problem with my brace that no one else had been able to fix for weeks and it improved my comfort and healing 100%. After an equestrian accident that resulted in a broken back and double surgery, a DIFFERENT company provided a back brace. I struggled with its fit during rehab and told the doctors and therapists about the pain and sores it caused. After four weeks, they arranged for me to see the provider who did nothing to resolve the fit and suggested I (with no orthotic training) try adjusting the straps. I was in constant pain and was making ZERO progress. A week later, a doctor suggested I try to see if a different orthotist would be willing to assist and he recommended "Essential". They were not only willing to assist but refit the brace and made all of the required adjustments, eliminating the pain and ensuring the brace worked to my benefit. They did this with such kindness, skill, and professionalism. read more

I ordered a pair of leg braces a year ago. I have worn leg braces for over 60 years, and have never waited more than, at most, a couple of months. I sincerely hope they turn around the office procedures, because the people there seem very nice, and are always considerate and polite to me. How can I rate this fairly. In the summer of 2014 I was referred to Essential Orthotics. At first I went to their Glendale office which I could not find at first due to wrong directions given by Palmdale ofc. I finally found it but was referred to Tarzana office. They do not have a Tarzana ofc but use the ofc of another doctor once a week. I was fitted and when I picked them up was unable to wear them when I got home. I went back for adjustments several times for the right one and it got worse. Finally I returned them on Aug. 4. I got the "pick up" slip as required by Medicare. After some time I contacted Medicare about payment. Turns out Medicare let them keep $1547 and my supplemental insurance $394. Their reason: "...the supplier is entitled to payment as they incurred expenses to make the items for you." The fact that I was unable to wear said items doesn't count. read more

I'm very disappointed with the service of this particular business it took them over four and a half weeks to deliver some orthopedic shoes that was ordered through Kaiser I would never recommend this I originally started off and gave them an opportunity the first year that I deal with them it took him a long time to deliver the shoes the second year I gave them opportunity it took them even longer I would never recommend this company to any of my friends our family our business associates the people that work there are very friendly and very professional but then turn around and ordering their shoes is way too long I should never receive a bill and being paid for for shoes and then 5 weeks later or more I receive them that's unacceptable. read more

This place is incredibly slow and nobody seems to know what the other is doing. We brought my grandmother in to be fitted for compression stockings and after 3 months, still don't have them. Every time we call, they say "let us check on that and someone will call you back" and then nobody ever calls back. They tried to tell us that they had not received insurance approval, until I produced a copy of the approval that insurance had sent us. Then all of a sudden they tried to tell us that we were lucky and they just happen to have her size in stock and we can pick them up. Since they are custom order, I doubt they just happened to have her size. They are most likely the ones that she was measured for three months ago and they finally got around to finding them. Very nice staff. But, seems like their vendors leave a bit to be desired. Got an appointment quickly, was moved to a room within 15 minutes. I was referred because flat feet were affecting lower back and hip pain. I also have diabetes. Answered all the questions finally took impressions. Told me shoes and DIABETIC INSERTS would be in about 10 days. Well it is now 15 days and was told another 7 or 10 days. Guess they can't figure out what 10-14 days means. Since they are only order takers I don't think they are in control. If the shoes ever come I have serious doubts that they will solve the problems since they never told me what the Orthotics were going to do. Lesson, don't believe the delivery time and do't do what I did, plan on it. WELL WELL, nice woman CALLED TODAY. YESTERDAY THEY TOLD ME ANOTHER 7 TO 10 DAYS. THEY CALLED TODAY AND GUESS WHAT. MY ORDER IS IN. See what I mean? They are not in charge. And the vendor didn't even know they shipped the order. Tomorrow we will see what they built. Oh for joy, for joy. read more

I'm writing this review on behalf of my husband's experience. It has been absolutely terrible. We work with the "office" in Glendale, and this is one of the worst service experiences we've ever had with any type of business. My husband has been waiting on a prosthetic leg since October. It's March and still nothing. From their staff missing appointments, rescheduling appointments at the last minute, showing up over an hour late to appointments, and giving him the runaround in regards to when the work will be complete, there is just so many things that have gone wrong. The staff is nice (according to my husband), but being nice isn't good enough when you're running a business. My husband is very easygoing, and he already has a working prosthetic leg, so he hasn't been pressing the issue. That is probably a big part of why they continue to treat him this way. But even so, it is wrong and we wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

Parents seeking infant cranial helmets please consider another company. We were referred to Essential Orthotics & Prosthetics by our primary care physician to correct our then 5 month old son's plagiocephaly (flat spot). We took some initial measurements over 2 months and decided to move forward with a cranial helmet. They require a plaster cast of the head to create the helmet, which was a horrible experience. Many other companies can use a 3D scan of the head to create a helmet, which is obviously less traumatic to the infant and parent watching. We should have known soon into the process the company was lacking experience when we had to cast twice because the original helmet would not fit his head at all. In fact the second helmet never fit correctly either. It constantly twisted on his head, partial covered one ear, and at one point needed to be remolded because it caused him to have a black eye. We proceeded for three months with little to no feedback from the company on the progress of movement. At the end of the time originally quoted by the company to achieve "success" they said they would leave it up to our family care physician to make the decision on whether to remove the helmet and then didn't provide her with any measurements to make this decision. We (the parents) made the decision to remove the helmet when no other feedback was given and we began to see a positive/protrusion above the ear on the "good" side of our son's head. We did not see the results we wanted and our son still had a significant flat spot. Given another recommendation we sought out a different company for a second opinion and discovered immediately that Essential Orthotics & Prosthetics lacked the knowledge required to create the mold needed for an effective helmet, the equipment needed to take adequate and meaningful head measurements, additional knowledge on head exercises, and overall knowledge of the plagiocephaly condition. Our son has been wearing the second helmet for almost two months now and we've seen wonderful results. Please seek out multiple companies for consultations (which are usually free) before deciding on this company. I feel you'll quickly realize that correcting plagiocephaly is not Essential Orthotics & Prosthetics expertise. read more
