I came back to this nail salon today and booked with Becky after having such a great experience with Holly and Damian during my previous appointment. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing, and I won't be returning. From the beginning, the service felt rude and unwelcoming. Unlike my previous visits, I wasn't offered a beverage. While removing my gel with the drill, Becky filed my natural nails so aggressively that she cracked them. I told her it hurt, but instead of apologizing, she rolled her eyes and continued. I eventually had to ask her nicely to change the drill bit to something softer because it was hurting me. Her response was to abruptly get up, roll her eyes again, and continue filing without acknowledging my concern. I tried to keep things friendly and make small talk, even asking for her opinion on gel products because I didn't want the appointment to feel uncomfortable. However, when I asked for another coat of polish, she seemed visibly annoyed and rolled her eyes again. My nails ended up looking uneven, messy, and poorly painted, with noticeable marks and uneven borders. The entire service felt rushed, especially once other appointments started arriving. I understand that nail technicians get busy, and I genuinely tried to be considerate of her time. However, even the final result was visibly disappointing. I approached the receptionist to ask when I could return to have my nails corrected, but I felt dismissed and wasn't given a clear solution. When Becky approached, I felt uncomfortable bringing everything up again, so I simply left. What disappointed me most wasn't just the poor manicure, but the lack of professionalism, basic courtesy, and accountability. At a minimum, I expected an apology when I expressed that I was being hurt. Offering to fix my nails, providing a discount, or simply acknowledging the issue would have made a difference. Despite everything, I still left an 18% tip because I understand that people work hard and I didn't want to be unkind. However, that doesn't change the fact that I left unhappy with both the service and the results. I had a great first experience here, which is why I returned, but this appointment completely changed my opinion of the salon. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customers deserve to feel respected, comfortable, and confident in the service they pay for. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend booking with Becky based on my experience. Just got my nails done with Quinn and she did the prettiest brown French tips for fall! She was super friendly and walked me through each step making sure I was happy with the pricing, colors/design before moving forward. I appreciated how thoughtful and communicative she was throughout the appointment. I will def be back!
I have darker skin tone and the gel colors that are more compatible with darker skin weren't available. I also wasn't able to communicate what I wanted and when I tried to communicate, show inspiration photos, and ask questions, Tina just brushed it off and said "I got it honey." I ended up choosing the darkest pink gel nail that they had because she insisted on it and it ended up still not being dark enough and now I can see my natural nail color under the polish. When I pointed it out to get it fixed, she just said that "it's like that" and brushed it off again. I ended up getting engaged in these nails and it's so annoying that I hated my nails during it. They say it's a "final sale" and to "make sure you like them before you pay" but every time I brought up a concern it was brushed off. The nail prep and shaping was done well but they do whatever they want and if you have questions, they just brush past it and you might end up paying a lot for something you don't like. I don't like to make a scene but I was very disappointed in this experience and will not be going again. Nail colors provided should be in ranges that work with all skin tones.

It was my first time coming to this salon. Lots of parking and easy to find. A lot of natural light which makes it great for choosing a polish. Rachel did my builder gel fill and I love that she was gentle with the drilling. I could tell she wasn't in a rush. She did a great job with the shaping and making sure the polish covered the entire nail. David did my gel pedicure and he was very gentle with the cuticle work. I appreciated his attention to detail. It was a true luxury experience getting my nails done here!

All the employees here are all very nice and super helpful, especially when it comes to the crazy inspo designs I bring into the shop. Yes, the designs I choose are intricate and require a lot of time but they always execute and I always get a ton of compliments on my nails all month long. They have two locations and theyre both phenomenal and super clean. Highly recommend Essence Nail Studio, both in Irvine!!
Quinn is the best!!! She has a keen eye for detail and works with perfection. She is also very knowledgeable and will make appropriate recommendations for shape and color that are suitable for you. Highly recommended nail artist.

There is no better luxury nail salon that I would choose!! This location is the better one! I also love all technicians but Rachel is my favorite!! . If I could come every day I would!! Bathrooms are always clean and they offer a refreshment too
Just came home from the salon and manicure looks like this :( Only the first coat of color goes to the edges, but it appears the remaining coats do not, especially the top coat. The top coat on my thumb was really irregular, which I pointed out in the salon, and they were nice to fix. I did notice my nails were done very quickly, but I figured speed didn't matter as long as they were done well. But it appears there was lack of attention to detail in the haste. I thought the pedicure was good, so leaving 3 stars for the overall experience. The owner/ manager was also kind to fit me in because I didn't have an appointment. First time getting a mani here because I couldn't make it to my usual place. Underwhelmed with my mani, unfortunately :(

This review is really overdue. Ridiculously detailed work by David Huu. I love David's attention to detail because it's on another level. I've been going to him for about 2 years for pedicures. So happy I got to see his manicure work for my last Gel Manicure. I make sure to book my appointments for all Essence Nail salon services via Vagaro Thank you, David! My first nail experience where I felt relax and not judged by other nail salons. I love the high ceilings and cute design interior to set the tone that I will have a pleasant time and I really did. My only agenda coming in was my regular nail spot didn't have time for me. I needed to remove my current set of gel nail, get a new design but my issue was I had no idea what design to get. The process to remove my old set of nails and design was easy, not annoying and I didn't have to soak my nails for hours in a weird liquid. I like that! The front desk girl was so nice to help me with an ultra cute nail design. It was white and glittery with 3D details. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I love Quinn and her attention to detail. She really takes her time when doing my nails and they always turn out exquisite. I highly recommend her if you go to this salon. If you are picky she is the girl for you. Also, David is always my go to when it comes to my pedicure. He takes his time and always does an amazing job on my gel pedicures. They last pretty long.
