The food was completely delicious. The atmosphere was relaxing and the restaurant was very comfortable. My friends had soup for the appetizer and steak and fries. They said their food was also delicious. There are many places in Ath to dine, but if you have only one chance to choose then dine here, it is so completely worth it!

The cuisine is based around grilled meats, accompanied with a choice of baked potatoes or Frits and salads. The proprietor greeted us (he speaks English and French) and explained the choices for cooking the meals. We chose meals that are cooked at the table with the mini grills. I chose the beef plate which featured three types of beef in 100g portions each. My friend chose mixed grill plate which consisted of beef, lamb, chicken and ostrich. I chose a nice Pino Noir to go with the meal. I was driving so I passed on an after dinner whisky but I could have been quite content with the selection. Through my conversation with the proprietor I discovered that he built all the tables, bar, kitchen and grills himself. He is an avid skier and mountaineer. This is reflected in the decor which is tastefully put together. An interesting fact is that each table has a tag with the name of a historic expedition / explorer. If you aren't familiar with the name of your table, just ask and you will receive an interesting history lesson including some lesser known trivia about the expedition.

My one problem with this place was how wildly overpriced the food was. For my appetizer, I received 3 lobster raviolis and it cost 16 Euros. The steak and onion kabob, while delicious, was almost 30 Euros. Including my meal and my girlfriend's, plus we both had a glass of wine, it came out to 98 Euros for lunch. That is the only bad part about it. If you don't mind forking over some money, this is a very nice place to eat.

At least here, when you ask for medium or rare, it is cooked that way, which is not the norm around the country. They don't seem to have the same ideas of rare, medium and well-done as an American restaurant would. For dessert, she had chocolate mousse and this lady is a lover of mousse. To her, this one was so-so, nothing special and perhaps a bit heavier than a mousse should be. I had the poire William, a whole pear baked or something, with some chocolate around it and also, I'm guessing some alcohol. There was also a side of ice cream on the plate.
