The staff is incredibly friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. They also offer grooming and boarding. My dog hasn't stayed overnight yet, but he definitely will in the near future. I feel completely comfortable and safe leaving him in their care. One of my favorite things is their Instagram because you can actually see what the dogs are doing throughout the day. It really gives you a day in the life of a dog at Barker Lounge. They do require dogs to be up to date on their vaccinations and spayed or neutered. Pickup is typically by 7 PM. After that, the dog will stay overnight and you'll be charged for boarding. And let me tell you, every time my dog comes home, he goes straight to sleep. My dog Ben was staying at the Fairfield location when my worst nightmare as a pet parent was unraveling. I am traveling for work and am across the country, not set to return until later in the week. Outside of the heroism of the first responders, humane society and good samaritans, I cannot say enough about K9 resort's personnel as well as policy/procedures in place. Friends and family always inquire why I opt to pay to board Ben while I travel. This incident answered that inquiry in and of itself. Your emergency plan went into effect and was implemented with the outcome we all desire for live saving events. So not only do I know my Ben will be happy,loved and well cared for while staying at the facility, he will be rescued should an emergency erupt, which in this scenario seemed to be unpredictable and to no fault of anyone. After hearing that my Ben was ok and survived, the care did not stop there. Being a panic stricken fur mom from thousands of miles away, the staff could not have been more understanding and patient with my calls, questions and emails. They were so kind and reassuring with the ability to answer every single question I had while tears in my eyes on the other end of the phone trying to keep my composure. I applaud you as the leaders of this corporation for instilling this professionalism and compassion down your hierarchy. I sent pastries to the Fairfield PD, as well as the Fanwood location and made a donation to Fairfield Fire. I have been a loyal customer for many years and have entrusted K9 Resorts with my three pugs. Under the original owner and staff, both I and my dogs were treated like family. Unfortunately, my last three boarding experiences have been increasingly disappointing. Instead of being welcomed as a long-time customer, I have been greeted with comments such as, "Who are these dogs?" It was surprising and disheartening given our long history with the facility. The most troubling incident occurred during my most recent pickup. After I expressed that I was disappointed that no one remembers the dogs or me, the front desk employee became visibly upset. She went to retrieve my dogs, and while I was waiting in the lobby, I heard my smallest pug let out a loud yelp. Moments later, the employee came running into the lobby, yelling and holding out her arm, saying, "Look what your dog did to me," referring to what appeared to be a scratch. Furthermore I was being verbally confronted for expressing my dissatisfaction. The entire interaction was alarming and unprofessional, especially considering she was handling my three dogs at the time. I later called the location to speak with the manager, only to be told that she had resigned. I then contacted the corporate office in Berkeley Heights, where my information was taken and I was advised to contact the Regional Director. I did so, and he also took my information and told me he would investigate the incident and call me in 2 days. That was a week ago and I've heard nothing. My concern extends beyond poor customer service to the manner in which both I and my dogs were treated during this experience. I hope this matter is thoroughly investigated and that meaningful steps are taken to restore the level of professionalism and care that once made this location exceptional. It's is currently substandard. K9 Resorts has permanently lost my business. I don't trust them with my dogs and I don't like being treated poorly especially when I pay so much for their services.
