There was a tiny mixup in the beginning on the room that we booked for boarding but they made it right, and fixed it right away and also gave us a bunch of day care days to our account which was so sweet. We love taking her here for day care also and I'm telling you has the best time. Perfect place to get her energy out! Sleep like a baby. And the staff is amazing! Always so sweet and kind to us. Since the franchise owner sold the Madison, NJ location back to corporate, I have gradually watched the level of customer service decline. I have been a loyal customer for many years and have entrusted K9 Resorts with my three pugs. Under the original owner and staff, both I and my dogs were treated like family. Unfortunately, my last three boarding experiences have been increasingly disappointing. Instead of being welcomed as a long-time customer, I have been greeted with comments such as, "Who are these dogs?" It was surprising and disheartening given our long history with the facility. The most troubling incident occurred during my most recent pickup. After I expressed that I was disappointed that no one remembers the dogs or me, the front desk employee became visibly upset. She went to retrieve my dogs, and while I was waiting in the lobby, I heard my smallest pug let out a loud yelp. Moments later, the employee came running into the lobby, yelling and holding out her arm, saying, "Look what your dog did to me," referring to what appeared to be a scratch. Furthermore I was being verbally confronted for expressing my dissatisfaction. The entire interaction was alarming and unprofessional, especially considering she was handling my three dogs at the time. I later called the location to speak with the manager, only to be told that she had resigned. I then contacted the corporate office in Berkeley Heights, where my information was taken and I was advised to contact the Regional Director. I did so, and he also took my information and told me he would investigate the incident and call me in 2 days. That was a week ago and I've heard nothing. My concern extends beyond poor customer service to the manner in which both I and my dogs were treated during this experience. I hope this matter is thoroughly investigated and that meaningful steps are taken to restore the level of professionalism and care that once made this location exceptional. It's is currently substandard. K9 Resorts has permanently lost my business. I don't trust them with my dogs and I don't like being treated poorly especially when I pay so much for their services. read more

Brought my fur baby for an evaluation for daycare/boarding. Up front I told them he is reactive to garden hoses. When I dropped him off, I reiterated to them about the hose. My fur baby wasn't there but 2.5hours and I get a call to pick him up and that he is not allowed back. He damaged their hose after I told them 2x. Kennel cough happens. A lot. It's basically the human equivalent of the flu-- your dog may be vaxed but there are various strains. My dog contracted kennel cough when we boarded her for two weeks. Shit happens. They called us and took her to our vet. They also placed her in a private room with a tv, walked her separately and put up signs that there was a dog with kennel cough. Basically they saved our vacation and prevented us from flying home early. And my pup was vaccinated. It happens. To think otherwise is just ignorant. The staff gladly gave me a tour of the facility which made me feel a lot better and dealt with my daily calls well. I look forward to getting her into day care off their long waiting list so my pup can have fun! read more

Started with a 1 star but spoke to the owner about the below who was gracious about it. Kennel Cough is airborne so there is only so much they can do, but I still feel that they downplayed the issue. This is the second time we boarded our dog here. She and we were happy the first time, however, when we picked up our dog yesterday she was EXTREMELY SICK. She's a puppy so I said I thought she got bigger while we were away (10 days) but it turns out it was extreme swelling. She was coughing when she came out. The staff said she had thrown up on Friday so they isolated her from the other dogs but didn't think it was anything, and she was probably coughing from pulling on the leash because she was so happy to see me. Yes - she has a VERY bad case of Kennel Cough, and our vet told us K9 has known they have it and are therefore spreading it for the last 3-4 weeks. We spent $150 today for the Vet visit, the anti-inflammatory shot, 10 days worth of antibiotics and a weeks worth of human narcotics because she is in so much pain. NEVER AGAIN AND BEWARE. That they knowingly have this issue and shrugged it off as a cough saying "we don't think it's anything" is an absolute disgrace. read more

I have recently moved to NJ and visited 3 dog boarding facilities in the area (the other two were Camp Bow Wow and Morris Animal Inn). This was the best place I found and the staff genuinely love and care for the dogs and their wellbeing. My dog recently spent 6 nights on their facility in Madison. My dog refuses to eat when being boarded or when there are changes on her routine. I told the staff that it was normal and that she would eat when hungry enough. K9 resorts reported to me afterwards how they worked with her trying to add chicken stock to the food, hand feeding (this did the trick :!). *they didn't charge extra for this, which says a lot about their genuine concern for the animals under their care* They went above and beyond my expectations and treated my dog like I would have at home. When I picked her up, she was happy to see me, but turned back to give farewell kisses to her new friends at K9 resorts. read more

I brought my dog here for an overnight stay because of my sisters wedding. I was pretty nervous because I've never left her anywhere before. The building is updated and clean and the staff was welcoming and very nice. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because my dog is up to date on all of her vaccines and still came home with a mild case of kennel cough. I know there's little they can do to prevent it but I still find it odd that she got it when she has every vaccination in the book. read more

My fur baby loved K9 Resorts. They have a separate room for larger dogs and both rooms are *always* attended. Very important. At least one of the two owners, Ivan and Teresa, is always onsite. Their staff seems mostly good with dogs, although I have had an issue with one employee, which was not addressed to my satisfaction. Unfortunately. The resort is immaculate, with a special air exchange system and a special coating on the floor to keep their canine guests healthy. And I love the fact that they have an enclosed outdoor play area with special doggie grass that drains. Despite the cleanliness and strict monitoring of guest vaccines, my dog contracted kennel cough here twice (different years). But as others have noted, it's like sending your child to daycare where they might contract the flu or a cold. It happens despite requiring vaccines. On balance, K9 seems like one of the better doggie daycare facilities in the area. read more

I have used K9 Resorts for boarding my English Bulldog several times now and am extremely impressed with everything A-Z. We kept Sergeant in a luxury suite and he had no problems what so ever. A friend of mine's sister uses them all the time, and he could not stop raving about it (He is very particular!). We have had Bella for 5 years and this was the first time leaving her alone. This place is just AMAZING! My husband and I were going on vacation and had to look for a pet hotel for our two pits for 11 nights!!!! a friend recommended K9 resorts ( Madison) so I called and Ivan was so nice over the phone giving me all the details. He asked me to go so I can see the hotel plus a week before we left for vacation we took our babies there so the crew could meet them. Those two things make me feel comfortable about this place. While we were away, I was in contact with the hotel all the time by email. Every morning I sent an email and got the answer back right away. Teresa was an awesome help, she sent me pics and videos of them. I have no words that can describe how happy I am with the service we received at K9 resorts. When we pick them up they were so excited and happy with the whole crew that came out to say good bye to my babies!!!! I saw the relationship they build with all of them. I recommend this place 300%. They took care of my 2 babies in a very special way calling them " our favorites" I can say the dogs were on vacation too!!!! As an overprotective 'doggie Mom', I am VERY particular about who to trust with the care of my Maggie (English Goldendoodle), and this 'doggie resort' has won me over ( and Maggie too!). I have used their boarding services on numerous occasions and she is a day care 'regular'. All service are beyond expectations. I have referred friends and coworkers alike to K-9 and they too are over the moon with this wonderful establishment. This place is amazing! It's clean, well organized, and they truly care about your dogs. We moved here from California and had read about them online before coming in. We received a full tour and explanation of how they do things before bringing our dogs and they were very welcoming. We have used both the "daycare" services and boarding. After each stay, our dogs come home worn out from playing all day. Our dogs have never gotten upset when walking in and are excited for the day ahead! My puppy, Lulu, visits the K-9 Resorts in Madison Daycare 1-2 days/week. She is always SO EXCITED to be headed in to see her friends in the morning, and comes home very happy - and tired!!!!! Lulu loves to visit and play all day, and especially loves that she gets to spend time outside in the sun and/or breeze with her friends! My husband and I love it because we know that our fur baby is being cared for by their friendly and knowledgeable staff. The facility is always clean, and everyone who works there is so welcoming! I can not even rate this. My family was on vacation for 7 days. My dog is 7.0 pounds and upon drop off I told them that I did not want her in doggy day care. I reserved the best accommodations for our dog. After the first day, I called in and they said she was bored and should go to doggy day care. I relented and told them not to take their eyes off of her because of her size. They assured me they would watch her. I called in every day and gave them the same warning. They wanted to put her in full day but I refused. On day 5 of my vacation, I received a call that she had been mauled by another dog. Her eyeball was pulled out of its socket, her jaw broken in three places and several puncture wounds. I was living my worse nightmare. I beg anyone reading this that you consider my situation and not leave your dog there. Your family and you pet deserve far greater care. My dog will never be the same. I am lucky that she is alive.
