We absolutely couldn't be happier with Linda at NJ Fix My Dog and the incredible transformation of…read moreour dog Millie. As first-time dog owners, we tried our best to train Millie on our own, but it just wasn't cutting it. We constantly struggled with obedience and her inability to listen to us, intense pulling when we went on walks, jumping, getting mouthy - the list goes on and on. We felt defeated and insecure - but as soon as we talked with Jean and Linda at NJ Fix My Dog, we felt hopeful! They assured us Millie was the kind of dog that could be helped, and they'd be happy to step in.  Throughout Millie's 2 week bootcamp, we received frequent updates from Linda on Millie's progress, photos, and videos. We missed her but we knew she was in excellent care and learning so much everyday. After the 2 week bootcamp, Linda brought Millie home and we were in shock at how well-behaved, and well-mannered suddenly became. The day she came home, Linda spent over an hour with us going over what Millie learned and how to work with her going forward. She also gave us a full document with an assessment of Millie's overall behavior, how to continue to enforce what she learned, and how encourage her along the way.  Before bootcamp, we dreaded going for a walk with Millie because of how she behaved when she saw other dogs (pulling toward them, whimpering, getting anxious, etc.), and how she walked in general (tugging and zig-zagging the entire walk). Now she walks like an absolute DREAM! Right at our side, a nice little trot, ignores other dogs, people, squirrels - everything! We could walk her all day long now, and we look forward to all our walks! Millie used to ignore us when we called for her, or told her "no" if she was doing something we didn't like, but now her recall skills are excellent and she runs right over to us when we call her. She doesn't even try to attempt the bad behavior she used to do, like jumping, getting mouthy, etc., and instead happily relaxes. Her overall demeanor used to be just a little bit intense, always on the lookout for something to get into - but now she is so calm and seems at east with herself. Linda worked WONDERS! We learned so much about Millie through this process, and we truly feel comfortable with what Linda taught us to help Millie be her best self. We feel like we have the tools we need, and the confidence. We feel the support of NJ Fix My Dog now even after Millie is back home - we know Linda is just a call or text away if we need any help.

Since the franchise owner sold the Madison, NJ location back to corporate, I have gradually watched…read morethe level of customer service decline. I have been a loyal customer for many years and have entrusted K9 Resorts with my three pugs. Under the original owner and staff, both I and my dogs were treated like family. Unfortunately, my last three boarding experiences have been increasingly disappointing. Instead of being welcomed as a long-time customer, I have been greeted with comments such as, "Who are these dogs?" It was surprising and disheartening given our long history with the facility. The most troubling incident occurred during my most recent pickup. After I expressed that I was disappointed that no one remembers the dogs or me, the front desk employee became visibly upset. She went to retrieve my dogs, and while I was waiting in the lobby, I heard my smallest pug let out a loud yelp. Moments later, the employee came running into the lobby, yelling and holding out her arm, saying, "Look what your dog did to me," referring to what appeared to be a scratch. Furthermore I was being verbally confronted for expressing my dissatisfaction. The entire interaction was alarming and unprofessional, especially considering she was handling my three dogs at the time. I later called the location to speak with the manager, only to be told that she had resigned. I then contacted the corporate office in Berkeley Heights, where my information was taken and I was advised to contact the Regional Director. I did so, and he also took my information and told me he would investigate the incident and call me in 2 days. That was a week ago and I've heard nothing. My concern extends beyond poor customer service to the manner in which both I and my dogs were treated during this experience. I hope this matter is thoroughly investigated and that meaningful steps are taken to restore the level of professionalism and care that once made this location exceptional. It's is currently substandard. K9 Resorts has permanently lost my business. I don't trust them with my dogs and I don't like being treated poorly especially when I pay so much for their services.

Her reviews were all positive and consistent in their comments, and her rates were listed and extremely reasonable. Karin responded to my inquiry within an hour and we had a scheduled phone call that same evening. She came to our home the next night. When she arrived, she quietly observed our new puppy and our nine-year-old dog, and then gave us detailed instructions on what she wanted us to do. She also had us try some of those instructions while she was still there to guide us. At the end of the visit, we scheduled another session for two weeks from that date. Things are already so much better in our home. Karin got right to the root of our puppy's issues and quickly came up with a plan for us to execute. She is a great communicator and just made everything seem doable. Most importantly, our dogs responded to her immediately. She clearly understands dogs and likes them. It was easy to see that, for her, it was about them as individuals, and not about a set method that she adheres to. From our first conversation, I could see that Karin loves what she does. She is curious, observant, and determined to find a way to help her clients and their dogs to understand each other better and to build relationships based on trust and consistency. She just calms the chaos that having a puppy can sometimes lead to! Do not hesitate to turn to her.

We've tried several trainers and boarding facilities in various cities and states. We even resorted to trying a famous YouTube trainer and he came back worse and even more anxious. Typically, these expensive "board and trains" we've participated in have ended with medication recommendations and a "good luck". One final trainer recommended we try Mind Of Dog because she also wasn't able to break through. I'm so grateful we did. He's thriving and comes home exhausted. An added bonus is the people training we've received. The best part of all of it, is that he's finally getting the exercise and structure he's always needed and deserves. They handle the dogs calmly, but with lots of structure and clear boundaries, which our dog desperately needs. We can finally go to work and travel without worrying that he's being mishandled or ignored. We're so grateful to have found this place and I have to admit, I was waiting for him to fail again, because we had lost all hope. I highly recommend that you give Mind Of Dog a shot, especially if you're in a similar position as we were. Thanks, Mind of Dog! Nancy worked with us and within a week it was like we had a completely different dog. I love the positive reinforcement she gives, and that she simplifies the training process, so that is truly is something that we feel capable of doing our own. She takes the time to really get to know your dog, and your family (for example we have 2 young kids), customizes her training to your needs, and explain the thought process behind her techniques.
