It was our first time doing an escape room, we choose to do the ritual room, it was fairly hard solving puzzles because we were new at this. But I felt that if we had some knowledge or experience of how it would go, the puzzles were perfect in trying to solve. We had "M" as our host. He was very friendly and made sure we were good to go as well as how we felt after for it being our first time. I loved when he jumped into character, he didn't miss a beat! Me, my daughter and her boyfriend do tons of escape rooms together, all over the bay area and in Tahoe/Reno, etc. EscapeOut was SO fun and challenging. They also did a great job with room design and having the clues match the storylines. I won't give it away either, but there were a few scream-worthy moments in one of the rooms. The gamemasters really elevated the whole experience as well. We did 3 rooms already and are coming back to do the last 2 in a couple weeks (we would have done them all that day but we didn't book far enough in advance). read more

I have been to a lot of different escape rooms in the Sacramento area and this one is one of my favorites. The rooms are challenging, detailed and decorated very well and the staff is amazing. I have never been to a place where the staff is committed to their characters so well. It makes for a very good experience and really makes you feel like you are part of the game. Two of us tried the Ritual room. Although we didn't escape we had a great time. There was a large variety of puzzles that made use of nearly every part of the room. I think this particular room is good for 2-4 people as there aren't that many things to do in parallel. The host did well keeping an eye on us by and even called when he realized we were totally stuck. Coming back to Escape Out is definitely something on my to-do list! read more

For Cousins Day, myself and 11 of my cousins came to EscapeOut, age ranges from 11-33. WE HAD A BLAST!!! Everyone was really engaged and excited. We worked as a group. We laughed, celebrated when we cracked codes, and took the L when we were 2 steps away from escaping the room . Definitely made some amazing family memories in 60 minutes. This place is AWESOME!! Themed rooms are well planned, our host stayed in character and was fun to interact with, everything is clean and in good working order. We did not get out of The Ritual Room before the hour was up, but we had a blast trying. It's the perfect experience for all ages...we brought family visiting from Washington for their first escape room adventure and they loved it. It was my second escape room, and it was WAY better than one I did in San Francisco. Made reservations for my son, his girlfriend and my husband to do the magician room. They were skeptical, and thought I was being corny arranging such an event. They all had a blast!! They couldn't stop talking about it for hours after. The staff who played the magician was quite hilarious and engaging. The staff who helped us figure out the last clues (because we couldn't figure it out before our time was up), allowed us to work through to the answer which was satisfying. My friends and I (Team Spirit 5tick) have completed 22 rooms in the greater Sacramento area. I chose EscapeOut specifically for the Sorcerers Shack because I've been dying to do a magical themed room. When you enter the lobby it is clean, there is lots of seating, lockers for your stuff, and some puzzles to keep you occupied while you wait for your room. Our room was completely immersive, literally from the moment the game started. The room had some elements that we have never seen before, which we thoroughly enjoyed. This room went out of its way to maintain the magical theme throughout. It was fantastic. The hints also kept up with the theme of the room. We were on the last puzzle when we ran out of time. However, the hostess communicated with us while she was still out of the room and allowed us to complete the last puzzle, which we did so within a couple of minutes. This is first place I've ever tried to do an escape room, and I'll probably be back when they open their 4th and 5th rooms. With a team of five, we were able to complete the Ritual Room (easy) and the Magician's Illusion (Medium). We struggled with the time for the Sorceror's Shack (Hard), but we were able to get about two-thirds of the way through. The hosts are very entertaining and get into character very well. I particularly enjoyed Nicholas and his immersion into the role as host of the room. His hints were enough to keep us rolling without giving away the answers. read more

First time doing an escape room so I thought it would be a great time with the wife and kids. Very easy to book our time/day via their website which was awesome. We chose the Laboratory room which was their easier of the 4 rooms with a 50/50 success rate. My kids, wife and myself all had an amazing time and really can't wait to experience the other rooms. The host that helped us is a real asset to this place. He was very personable and his acting the part of the laboratory staff was a great addition to the experience. I had the best time here. It was all of our first escape room and it didn't disappoint. The theme we did was called "Ritual." I believe the hostess said the difficulty level was medium. We didn't make it through in the 60 minutes, but we didn't do bad for our first time. They watch you over a camera but they can't hear you. If you need help/a clue, you can ask for one. The clues weren't too hard to find but they did require a good amount of thinking. It was such a fun activity to do, a group activity so different and fresh and just good for the brain! I may at this point just be reviewing escape rooms in general, but this one was really fun. There are 2 other themes at this location. I can't wait to do another room . Maybe my only complaint would be the timer on the wall wasn't working so we weren't able to gauge the time. If you go and they can't make it work right away, I would insist they keep trying til it does! read more

The room we did was quite challenging (we didn't solve it in our time limit) however it was really fun and interesting. The room was pretty nice and I was impressed with how challenging the puzzles were. If we were to come back, we might do an easier room though. But we knew it was going to be tough going into it. I also want to compliment the staff. Marv was the host for our room and he was great. He was super into his character and was quite nice and funny. This was my first escape room experience. We booked the "hardest" room with max 12 people. I was completely clueless but I had a good group of people to solve the codes for me. We made it out with about 3 minutes left! I would say it was quite enjoyable with a good amount of mystery and figuring out stuff. Basically, a bunch of locks you'll need to open in order to advance. Service was great. The friendly host was available at all times to ask for hints and guidance. Decorations could be improved though. We (wife and I) and another adult couple booked EscapeOut for our latest evening-out...and are we ever glad that we broke from our recent string of dinner-and-movie outings. None of us had ever experienced an escape room, though we had a vague idea of what we were about to try. Well, "vague idea" about sums it up, because from beginning to end, this turned out to be one of those "We'll be back" episodes that could easily become habit. We booked "The Ritual Room", which is rated as "Moderate", making it the easiest of the three available rooms. The theme is that after a lengthy sleep we awaken in a totally different, and strange place. We started out in a small ante-chamber where we received the basic setting and rules; we were then told to close our eyes while we were led one-by-one into the escape room. The attendant shut the lights and locked the door upon his exit, just after he told us, "You have one hour to escape". We opened our eyes to find a dimly lit room containing cabinets, armoires, and assorted articles. We're not going to give away any details, as we promised in the pre-event registration/sign-in, so you'll have to experience it for yourselves...which we HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you do! Our attendant intermittently called us via the room phone to check on our progress, answer our questions, and thankfully, offered clues and "suggestions". To our individual and collective amazement, we solved quite a few of the steps, some of which were quite tricky and, dare we say, amazingly clever once considered in retrospect. Whatever confidence and self-esteem we felt upon solving yet another step in our planned escape, our hour expired, leaving us at the mercy of our attendant and guide, Peter, to show us the remaining missing pieces. We looked at one another in stunned silence as Peter revealed the semi-obvious, arcane, and downright dastardly secrets to our release. Despite our failure to make it out on our own, this experience was an intensely fun and enjoyable way to spend part of an evening outing. We will return to try the other two rooms, which are rated "Challenging" and "Very Challenging". From our arrival to our departure, our host, Peter, was polite, congenial, and helpful. He set the tone for our entire visit and contributed to our complete satisfaction. read more
