Escape Kemah is a great thing to do with a group of friends or coworkers. They have three different themed rooms where your team must solve various clues in order to escape in less than an hour. Thinking outside-the-box is a must. Currently, they have the Fear room (detective/murder), Star Wars, and Bomb room (a disgruntled person has planted a bomb). It is my understanding that they occasionally change the themes. I would suggest you check their website for updates. We had a very large group so we rented all three rooms. I specifically was trying to escape the Fear room. The Fear room is good for larger groups. We started with eight people. However, it is initially divided into two smaller rooms where the eight of us were split randomly into two different rooms. Thinking outside the box is a must as you must rely on others to help you escape. The two rooms are forced to communicate with each other via two-way radios. Once each team gets out of the first room, they then work together as a larger group to escape two more rooms. The two teams combined get a total of five clues from the host. Teams are given 60 minutes to escape the room. We did escape with 1:11 remaining on the clock. Bottom Line: Escape Kemah is good for team building or just a group of friends as it forces you to work together to solve clues. A good time was had by all who went. read more

We went as a group of 7. I think for the room we did (studio 99), less would've been better. I think 4-5 people would've been perfect because of the size of the room. However, this was all of our first time at an escape room and we had a blast. We were so close to making it out but ultimately failed (lol). We will definitely be back. Would love to try the fear room. The price is also affordable, considering 2 other places i called wanted over $40 a person. Also, BOOK EARLY! They fill up fast on the weekends. So our group of friends went here. It was FUN. I was mostly just watching them solving puzzles-do ALL THE WORK lol. I did the bomb room with friends and 'others'. I would have rather had the room to ourselves but that is an expensive route to rent the whole room. It was hard to do the game with complete strangers. Needless to say, we didn't escape in time because we all couldn't get along :( I'd love to do another, just not with strangers. The strangers' also had kids and all they did was run around and rearrange, move, or open things making the whole game even harder. Complete chaos. If you don't have a big enough group, don't bother, since you don't know who you will end up with. :( read more

So far this has been the best escape room I have done. We had 8 people and did the Bomb Room. We escaped with 4 minutes 2 seconds left. It's easy to overthink or overwhelm yourself but as a team we did it!! The room was set up great and the clues are there if you need them. I'd definitely go back to this escape room! We did the Star Wars room and weren't terribly impressed. The room quality was low, many of the locks in the room didn't pertain to the clues at all, and there wasn't much to solve. It was a lot of map combing with minimal locks to solve and keep the momentum going. Because there were so few, even though there was only three of us in the room, we were frequently tripping over each other or one of us often didn't have much to do. Almost all of the codes were completely dependent on solving the previous, so we couldn't divide and conquer, and she spent most of the hour talking to us. We've done many many escape rooms and often don't use all our clues. This room maybe is just geared differently than all the others we've done, but the lack of puzzles to actually solve was a disappointment. The facility seems nice and the staff was friendly. Today was my second visit at Escape Kemah. I booked online around 3:00pm for 4 tickets I showed up 15 minutes early. We all filled out our waiver my daughter is 7 and the website does specify toddler or infant not suggested and or older accompanied with an adult. They knew as we were filling out the waiver that my daughter was younger. We were the only ones there until 2 others showed up as walk ins they proceeded to ask us to go outside to have a talk. The talk consisted of my daughter not being able to participate unless I paid for the whole 10 slots. They also said that they weren't going to watch my child and obviously I never asked that and would never. It was a very rude approach with no solution and a waste of our time. The big kicker they said we were cancelling and that they were not refunding me the $100 even though we were waiting there 15 minutes early. It was handled so unprofessionally they could of offered a reschedule date. I read through the website just trying to warn anyone with children. They leave a grey area open and then try to collect based on non disclosed information. This was my daughters kinder to 1st grade gift and she cried the entire way to the car and to Kemah Boardwalk. Update - I received a message from the manager via voicemail after we left. To reschedule for the same day within an hour or so to sit through the same scenario. I would never treat any family or person this way and I won't be spending or referring anyone else there. I'll be disputing with my bank. Thank you for the not so great customer service and experience. The women that assisted and is training others is rude no personality nor help. The parking for a Saturday night was horrendous but the staff was very friendly and helpful once I made it there. The overall experience was really fun with our group. We were in the bomb room and we did have to get a few hints to help us get through some of the challenges. At the end we could see that there was no way we would have solved some of the puzzels on our own. We did have a small snafu when one of the doors became jammed and wouldn't open. We were not able to stop the bomb from exploding in time though we were close. Overall I have to say this is a great experience and I would definitely do it again. read more

We had so much fun at a mixer event we recently attended. The room was a Christmas theme. The puzzles were challenging and a lot of fun. You really learn a lot about your friends and teammates trying to solve problems together. I highly recommend Escape Kemah for anything from corporate team building to date nights. I was hesitant at first because I really didn't want to be stuck in a room for an hour with my coworkers but I'm so glad I went. We solved the puzzles and escaped with 10 minutes to spare and afterwards felt a closer connection with everyone. And Madelyn made me feel very welcomed by engaging in conversation and she always had a smile. A smile really goes a long way but for some reason most people in customer service forget that or choose to ignore it. It's right next to a German restaurant too so we made a whole night of it. I did not enjoy this Escape Room and would suggest a different one for several reasons. We did the bomb room and were really excited to try this location because its close by. The first thing i found disappointing was that there is no background story to immerse yourself in. I read online that its was supposed to be a disgruntled employee but upon arriving to the room it was an old, garage sale looking decored room that had no vibes of anything other than an old stale office. Upon inspection you learn he is a world traveler but you still have no idea why there is a bomb or he is upset. There was no guide to tell you were to start so we all just started ripping apart the room until we found things. I would like some sort of story to guide me to the first exercise not just a free for all of destruction. Then, they put you in with strangers if you dont rent out the whole room. There isnt enough space in the room for as many people as they put you with and some are left out from getting to participate in exercises. 10 people in that room is just greedy on their behalf. The particular people they put with us had kids who were exceptionally obnoxious and kept talking loudly during clues or farting(again its a small room). The strangers wouldn't help, demanded to take puzzles away from us as we solved them, wouldnt work as a team, and really ruined the experience. The staff girl just goes through the motions and isnt very entertaining or enthusiastic. Before the game i explained we were doing a girls night and prefered not to be with kids and she said "thats just how it goes if you dont rent the whole room" which made me feel like they just want your money and dont care if you have fun. They are rude about using the bathroom because its in an office and escort you, installing another hallway door to the bathroom would fix that. The room itself, puzzles were ok but there is no real clues in the room to figure them out. Im pretty good so i got far but you do need to ask for clues, there is no way to do it completely alone. They need more background story and more clues worked inside the room to immerse yourself in. I am disappointed in this Escape Room but if i ever came back, in which i dont plan to, i would be sure to pay the $225 to rent out the whole room. I hope they change ownership and someone better takes this location over. This owner is trying to make maximum profit on a barebones production. read more

This place is awesome. The staff and the experience itself are great. We picked the horror room. Its recommended for 12 and up but on this trip my 9 year old son went and he was a big part of solving the puzzles. Its a blast so go give it a try. read more

This was our first time, this was part of our family's Christmas present and we did the bomb room. I expected it to be a quick and easy game. There were 6 of us. It was alot of fun. I have been here before and the place is fun. We went this weekend and upon arrival were told to scan a code to sign the waiver. After trying, I told the lady, "I am sorry, our phones do not have enough signal to load the page.". She laughed like it was hysterical and said, "That's too bad because that is the only way to do it."..... that was it. I wanted to leave at that point but we had driven an hour to come do the escape room. We went outside and walked around til we were able to do the waiver. Thankfully she was not our guide in the room. He was super nice and fun. read more
