We came here for an outing with our church department leaders. We had a great time. Our pastor spilt us up between two rooms and chose the teams so we couldn't work with the people we're always with. The good news is that I know pretty much every one of our department leaders. So even though I didn't get to work with my husband or sister, I did end up with three other family members, our pastor, his mom, my bestie, and another friend. We all worked really well together and we made it out with not much time to spare. We had a few setbacks because one of the puzzles got messed up causing us to have to use a hint and also setting us back a little bit. Doesn't matter, we made it! We did the neon/black light room. It was fun... dark, of course, but very fun! There were two rooms involved so when you finished one, you had to do the other in order to escape. My husband's group did the stranger things themed room and I don't know anything about it because we can't share secrets of course (in case we go back and switch rooms) but I do know there were three rooms involved in theirs, and there was a demigorgon in one room. He said it was fun. We had a pretty large group so having 7 people in one group and 8 in the other might seem like too much, but it wasn't bad. I will say that the room we did could've been done with less people, but there weren't too many of us so it was fine. (I was in the group of 7.) Our guide was very friendly and helpful. He was knowledgeable and explained everything we needed to know ahead of time. I never knew this place was here. It's literally right across the Hwy from our church. I'm glad I know about it now because I would definitely come back here again, and I'm hoping we do something else like this in the future. I love escape rooms. read more

We had a great time in the Stranger Things room. We were able to figure out the answer by the time the hour was up. However, at the end, it took minute for someone to come out and check us out. Came here with my husband for a date and did the neon room. It was just the two of us and I was worried it would be too challenging but we finished it with 15 minutes to spare. For us, it was just the right level of challenging. The puzzles were pretty clever and I loved that it took teamwork. The room is dark so they give you a flashlight but If you have a harder time seeing in the dark ask for an extra flashlight or two. Had a ton of fun! Definitely worth the $25. Can't wait to get a group together and try one of their more challenging rooms! read more

This review is a little late, it's from our experience there on my wife's bday in mid July. I have to say, this was our first escape room experience and it did not disappoint. The neon room was very fun. The difficulty level was just right for us as beginners. Some of the challengers were Very clever, some not so much, but overall it all tied in really well. Only my 2nd escape room and it was a lot of fun!! We opted for the Neon room since it was just the 2 of us and we needed something to boost our confidence. Little did I know that we just aren't really cut out for brain teasers. Setup was pretty smooth. We got there just in time and was escorted into the room. Watched a video that explained things and then were just left to go. We ended up using all 5 hints and even when we had the code to exit, we couldn't figure out how to get out. That's how bad we were. Luckily they let us know to go out the right door and we escaped! Great way to spend 45 minutes (less if you're smarter than us). The staff are on it and very helpful. Not judgemental either :). I'd definitely try again with a larger group and a different room. read more

We escaped the Neon Room! It wasn't too challenging. Once we got going it was straightforward. The quality was pretty meh, but I think that's just due to the age of the room itself. Break free was a really good escape room. Great customer service. The only issue I had was with the room itself. The Doll room, don't get me wrong, it was fun but the over abundance of locks take away from the feel of the game. It needs some actual puzzles to bring it to a higher level. We solved the murder mystery room! Our family had so much fun working together to solve the crime. Our guide was friendly and helpful which set the tone for lighthearted "stress" as we worked to escape. The story was well crafted and realistic. This was by far my worst experience at an escape room. The room was not reset so we were looking for items that had not been put in its original place. Some items were still set from the last group so we were unable to actually do the puzzle. The puzzles had missing pieces so we could not fully complete it. It was a disaster. This was a first time for several people in my group and it was not a great experience for them. The staff was friendly and apologized but I feel like more should of been done since we were unable to complete half of the activities especially spending the money we did for a group. This was my and my husband's first proper date night in ages, and since Break Free is offering private bookings right now this seemed like a fun, safe way to enjoy a night out. We chose the Art Heist room for our first-ever escape room, and while we did NOT escape (it's hard mode and there were only two of us, after all) that 100% did not matter because we had SO much fun trying! The person who was managing our room was phenomenal, walking us through the part we didn't make it to afterwards and chatting with us as it was towards the end of the evening. Very personable, very fun, and we will absolutely be back to try another room (they're opening a new one in July; we'll be there!). read more

Overall great room and experience! The props and clues were well done. The game master volunteered too many clues even when we had plenty of time remaining near the end. Rather than simply telling the answer we would have preferred the game master prompt us in the right direction. I would def recommend this company/room. Definitely not the best escape room I've been to, but also not the worst. I did the "Death Row" room, which was pretty fun. However, it was difficult to hear the game master over the walkie talkie. Sometimes he would give us hints without us us asking for them. The whole communication piece was confusing. The workers also all seemed kind of confused at time, whenever we asked about rescheduling rooms. Overall, the quality of the room was okay, but not impressive. Might stop by again to try some other rooms, but probably not. read more

I've been to many escapes rooms around Houston and this is by far the best one yet. The new annabelle room is detailed, challenging, and suspenseful. The little details that relate to the movie are precise. It's perfect to get you in the mood for Halloween. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

I went with a group of friends when they first opened and personally met the owners! Our group had a tough time and got "electrocuted", but had a fun time in our prison room...LOL. They listened to our feedback and we have seen others have success in the other escape room, so we want to go back and "escape" successfully. read more

Follow up from our first experience: we got the experience that should have been provided the first time. I really appreciate that the owner listened to my complaint and was understanding. We went again last nite(different room) we were provided a backstory which helped. We didn't escape but we had fun. Thank you for allowing us to try it out again and we can gladly say that we will be planning another time to go. So first this is not our first escape room we have gone to several and this place was by far the worst. The guy at the front ran thru what he feels was rules pretty much just told us of all the things that other rppl did and for us not to do that ok fine great. He then proceeded to tell us that their equipment was broken (intercom, camera) left a walkie talkie to communicate. My biggest issue was he failed also provide storyline, directions about the locks(4or 5combo) We would ask for a clue thru the walkie talkie ,you could hear his was joking and laughing with the other workers. (I made a comment about going to Yelp to leave a review is when he responded) we didn't escape as he failed to provide some sort of information just kept repeating what we ha already done. The locks would time out and would have to wait he stated wait 3.mins(wasting time on a timed game makes no sense but whatever). And then at the end we didn't escape (how could we with no direction). He comes in and just started giving excuse that he was working both rooms by himself because no one was there with him which was a lie because when we walked out more employees came out. I would never ever recommend this place but will let people know about our experience. read more

This was the best escape room we've ever done! Did the Ring one. It's good. Very challenging!!! This place is brand new and the people running it are super nice!!! We took our two kids, 9th and 10th graders, and three friends of similar ages. Perfect! They all said they're stressed now. we laughed so hard. It's definitely team work. So good!!!! read more
