Escama has been around for a couple of years now and it is obvious they have found their format. The menu is practically the same as on my previous visit about a year ago, but on the blackboard they have the todays specials. (In my opinion the specials are a bit more gambling on the quality though). One of the upsides with Escama is that it is easy to make the evening fit the size of your pocket, many of the courses are rather cheap by Swedish measures and you can order a few at a time (good for sharing) and think about what direction you want to go ahead. I recommend sitting at the bar to have a chit chat with the chefs or see your food being prepared.
The service is fast and attentive, we don't have to wait neither to order, with dirty dishes or to have something more to drink.
We started with the Pata Negra that melted in your mouth and roasted almonds and Pimientos de Padron. Further on we tried the Tuna tartar which is a little "sushi inspired" in the flavors, maybe not totally authentic but it tastes good. The crostini accompanying the tuna felt a bit ready made though. After that we shared the grilled Entrecote and Patatas Bravas on recommendation from the kitchen. The grilled meat was perfect and despite the pouring autumn rain outside it felt a bit like summer. As a dessert we had the "Torrija", their version of French toast with taste of cinnamon and lemon, topped with Vanilla Ice cream and some crumbs I felt were a bit redundant. The toast itself is a must though.
I would recommend Escama for the date, the After Work or for an easy going night out with the friends or colleagues. The food is straight forward but tasty and affordable. A dinner for two usually ends up around 1000 SEK (100 EUR) incl. drinks. read more
