I'm not sure why this place has 3.5 stars it really deserves 5 stars! I'm big on the quality of seafood being fresh or else I won't eat it or say something/send it back but the granidated Rockefeller scallop was absolutely amazing my favorite thing I had for sure! The cod was cooked to perfection melt in your mouth type like my mom makes (she's a professional chef) and the espresso martini by far the best I've had in Copenhagen in my 4 day stay and I've had many this being my last day. I'm also a server and want to make sure Jacob the server today 1/19 lunch gets all the praise he was absolutely wonderful! Give him a raise! He did everything right and more. A guy from the kitchen came out with a dish that turned out to be to the table next to us. They took it away quick ..it was a little weird that the table next to us got their order before us since we came first. As we are sitting next to the kitchen we can see some Of it..I see the floor is dirty with food.. the same kitchen guy was finishing our plate. We had order lobster. I want to like Fishmarket but for the price I can go elsewhere and get great food with good service. I ordered the Bouillabaisse and for the equivalent price of $50, the Dish came with about six pieces of small mussels, which two of them were not opened. There was also a prawn (a very small lobster) and some white fish. The service was mediocre as well. I thought it was a typical price for restaurant food in Copenhagen but realized that it was expensive because it is close to a tourist attraction. If you eat away from Nyvan there are restaurants with a Michelin star that are priced more reasonably. read more

*DREADFUL SERVICE* Where to start?! Well for starters the waitresses didn't bid us a warm welcome and the vibe turned into an uneasy feeling. I ordered a "Plateau fruits de Mer" accompanying "The Selection" of 12 different oysters. In the process of ordering, I was discussing with my partner that I preferred the Gillardeau. I do not know the waitress by name, however, the ginger corrected my pronunciation in a degrading manner and there is no reason for her to act snobbish which made her look like a complete fool. We were not wine experts and by nature, we ask about her opinion regarding which ones she could recommend. Then again her snobbish demeanor rose to the surface, encouraging her to roll her eyes every time we spoke. She cannot expect us to know everything about wine, her education in this field, and service was very insufficient. The platter looked aesthetically beautiful, however, the oysters were not shucked properly. The oysters were not dislodged from their shells and we had to cut it ourselves. This is very basic and when we pay a fair amount for the dish, we expect that this fundamental procedure is known by the chef. On the last note, I want to amplify and address the notion of service. I normally do not write such a negative review, but this case is extraordinary. The waitresses did not even have the courtesy to ask if we enjoyed our food or anything for that matter. The ginger waitress destroyed my experience and I am not afraid to let anyone know that her skills in service are a joke. To act snobbish and a "know it all" towards customers is very embarrassing. She needs proper education and it does not cost anything to smile. The service alone is enough of an experience to regret that I spent money and stepped one foot into the Fishmarket restaurant!!! As some have mentioned the service is hit or miss. We had it in the same meal. One of the servers really didnt seem to want to be bothered while the other was friendly and super attentive. I love new Nordic dont get me wrong but sometimes you gotta get some classic un adorned seafood. Fruit de mers tower had stone crab, lobster, langoustine, shrimp, and oysters. Fish in Copenhagen? Yes, this is indeed the right place. I could not be happier, being the fish-consuming troll that i am. From the top - Slightly french, but not in the stinty-potion-size way. Just well-cooked seaside food. There is always a kind welcome, although the waiters and waitresses are a bit young, but as long as they are good at their jobs, im fine with that. Oysters - Spectacular, they always serve Fine de Claire, two types. Tasty, fleshy and very powerful, i am very fond of these. And they have Kilpatricks, which is to many a sin, but i do have a weak spot for the idea of combining oysters and bacon :) I have tried several of the mains, they are fantastic, each their own idea and flavour, and i have tried the seafood platter (Royal or something fancy). Wonderful huge servings. And on that note - The bread. They have 2 types that comes with different dishes. It is fantastic :) They have several small dishes, very delicate, and the raw fish is perfect. Wine - They do know what they are doing. Champagne.......well, i might just be fond of more sharp taste then most, i would love a little more bite to this selection. And if they could add one good stout to the menu. Oysters and stout are a wonderful combination, and should be more accessible :) Minus - Its always full, difficult to book. My husband and I ordered a bottle wine, the wine glasses came quickly, waited a while for the wine. A different waitress brought our wine to the table. You can see the cork has already been removed. One should always present the bottle to the customer first, once the custermer agrees that's the right wine, you can then open bottle. Before we had a chance to say anything she poured some wine for my husband to try. She noticed a very small piece of cork in the glass. She quickly took the glass which had at least quarter glass of wine in it and and ran off. She came back with an empty glass. As she was pouring the first glass of wine, she asked "Are you having 2 glasses of wine or a bottle?". Are you kidding me? We have not seen or heard of such thing before. The bad and slow service continues. No place to place lobster and langoustines shells. So, our bread plates were overflowing onto the table with shells. We had to pour our own wine thoughout the dinner. No staff to be found. Finally, we were able to get our check. This is probably the worst service experience I have ever had. After being seated in a half empty restaurant it took them 10mins to finally bring us a menu and speak with us. This restaurant has a great location, and despite the extremely poor service, the food was quite good. The food is prepared on French-based recipes. The bouillabaisse was very good, as were the grilled langoustines. The wine list is very good. The prices are higher then you would be used to for this quality of food in the United States, but they are the norm in Copenhagen, especially in this Central District. There is a small area for outdoor seating as well, if the weather is good. We would not go out of our way to come back to this restaurant, but if you are hungry and in the neighborhood, it is perfectly acceptable. This place pleasantly surprised me. I figured this was just another fish restaurant in Copenhagen, but they have great dishes with nice flavors. I tried the 3 course menu of the day with was seared tuna, baked cod and a lovely dessert. The value for money can't be beat. We had a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio that paired perfectly. Our server was very attentive and friendly which is not always the case in Copenhagen. I am definitely going to bring my Mom here when she comes to visit next time. Tip: Make sure to make reservations as it is very busy and they have an early and a late seating option. read more

My husband and I came here last night for dinner and had a almost entirely wonderful experience. Our server wasn't superb but the food was great- we had oysters, ceviche and I had the cod with truffle sauce (clearly a favorite based on the tables around ours). We had a very disapointing experience today at Fishmarket, which we have visited at most of our stays in Copenhagen the last 10 years. After a 2000 Dk dinner, we wanted to have a desrt and an espresson to end the dinner. We immediately received the espresso, bu the dessert took a very ling time. After a long wihile, the coffee was getting cold and no dessert in sight. We reminded the waites who brought us dessert and new coffee. The impression we got from her was that we were difficult customers who should be greatful to even get dessert. When complaining to the manager he explained to us that it was totally acceptable to serve espresso 20 minutes ahead of the dessert and that we had no right to complain. He also mentioned that he was the son of the owner, which in our ears sounded like he was implying that this would make them infallible? We believe that the staff and the management should put the guest in focus and act accordingly, which is not what they do at this establishment. This is the last time we will visit Fishmarket and strongly recommend others to not book at this restaurant. read more

I went to their sister restaurant Pastis and it was excellent so I had big hopes for this establishment. Upon arrival the restaurant smelled heavy of fish. I'm from NYC and that's never a good sign. We didn't want to eat inside it smelled so bad. The service was Ok and the food was subpar for the price. I ordered the grilled langoustines for a starter and they were so over cooked it was mush.
