Erma's is an iconic small-town frosty freeze straight out of the 80s. You really can't find places like this anymore. They are only open during the summer season, usually from March-September. I recommend calling ahead to place an order (you can find their menu on their Facebook), otherwise you can end up waiting a while. But let me tell you-- it is WORTH the wait. Erma's burgers are to die for! I also recommend the spicy cheese bites and spicy fries. They also have great milkshakes. I usually end up getting a banana one! This is such a perfect spot that has really endured the test of time. Anyone stopping or passing through should take the time to go here.

Love this place. Such an iconic ice cream and burger affair. No drove thru or indoor seating just walk up to the window and carry out. During the Covid crisis the picnic tables were roped off with caution tape. Signs ask the patrons to order and stay 6 feet away from others as well ad the window Staff requested once we ordered to sit in our car and they would let us know when the food was ready. I think we were one of the only people to order on site. We had to wait about 30 minutes for our food. Everyone else had placed a phone order and would just drive up and get there food with no more that a 5 minute or less wait. So call in your order during this crisis. I did not mind the wait as it was good to be in the car and out of the house. The food was its typical great flavor. I got a cheese burger and deep fried cauliflower. My spouse got a burger and onion rings. I LOVE THE DEEP FRIED CAULIFLOWER. My wife did not like the Cauliflower but she did enjoy her onion rings. We washed down the burgers and deep fried Covid free food with an Ale8. Hotdogs and chili are a good choice as well. Not sure how long this location has been called Ermas. In the 1970s it was called the Dairy Bar or maybe Circle W not for sure. My wife was raised on the food here and always likes for us to stop by when we are in the area. I recommend this to all who are Owingsville to grab a bite.

The cheeseburger was delicious, friendly and quick service. This place is an ice cream shop but the burgers are excellent.

Friendly and fast service. Happy to stop into a local place on a road-trip. I wish I'd had room for a soft serve.

The burgers and fries are way to greasy. The only thing I like there is the ice cream.

Nothing hits the spot better on a hot summer day like this old fashioned dairy bar.

It was about 8:00pm and we were anxious to get home so we opted for the drive thru. After ordering we were told to park and they would bring our food out. So, about 10 minutes later, a guy brings out our food. When i reached into the bag, my hand came out smeared with mustard and ketchup. The boxes containing the burgers were covered in it and we were missing two of the three orders of fries. I go in to get it corrected and am told they can't do anything without a receipt. I go back to the car, get the receipt and when I come through the door the manager tells me " Never mind, I don't really need it"! She insists on making everything over so it'll be fresh. 30 minutes plus to get "fast" food. This place really made a bad day worse. Horrible service, poor product handling, incomplete order, no sense of urgency and a really half-hearted "sorry" to boot. Needless to say we won't be back, ever. Can't speak to the ambience since we went thru the drive thru. Update: Managers response of "try us again" is pretty poor. Nothing about we'll do better, retrain, make improvements, etc.

It is my first time to Morehead, Kentucky. Absolutely beautiful place!…read moreMy son said I "needed" to try Cook Out before I left. I must tell you, there is massive hype surrounding this drive-thru only restaurant. For the college kid on a budget I totally get it. However, I was not totally on board as we rolled to a stop at one of the two drive thru lanes. It was pretty hard for me to hear and understand the person on the intercom. They have Mr Pibb but not Dr Pepper. Let me say here that Mr Pibb was a drink whose recipe was surely invented by the Soviets during the Cold War in order to create chaos an unrest in the US. I just got a coke. I ordered a "tray", with a double burger on the advice of my more worldly, athlete son. He went the distance and ordered the same, but in a special way ( I think it might have been "cookout style"?). Anyway, it came with chili and slaw... on the burger. Again, under his advisement , I ordered the hush puppies as a side, and I saw they had Cajun Fries, so I thought I would try them. My one regret is that I did not try one of the 45 shakes on the menu. I was not super hungry and I just couldn't justify buying one. The food was ready, fresh, and hot in a matter of about three minutes! A friendly efficient young lady passed it through the window to us and took our payment. I was pretty impressed at their operation as far as that went. My son's order was correct but I think they might've given me a junior burger or something? It turned out it was fine because there was quite a bit of food there. Hush puppies were in fact pretty good. The "Cajun Fries" were just crinkle cut fries with some kind of spicy, salty powder sprinkled on them after they put the fries in the styrofoam container. The tiny burger was tasty, and the burgers taste like they are flame broiled. Pretty good! Overall, the food was pretty good. My experience would've been a lot better if the intercom and order taker had been little bit better, so keep that in mind if you go here. The drive-through only business is not for me, but for college kids and people who just want to get something to eat on the way home I think it's fine. I can't recommend the shakes because I didn't try one but they all sounded really good.

The food truly reminds me of summer…read moretime backyard cookouts (something that sadly has become more of my past than my present). I love ending summer days with a hamburger and hotdog (don't judge me). It is a great away to add a little "summer" to winter days.
