I think I'm done here. They make good sandwiches, but that's the only thing good about them. I don't know if it's a manager who doesn't care or the employees, or both, but it's an ongoing thing - multiple orders over a yearare missing paid-for items, and it's in both delivery and in-person pickup orders. Different bread than as ordered, chips left out of a combo, soup left out of a combo, different drink provided. *And all the missing or changed food is marked off on the receipt as being included and 'as ordered', no substitutions listed. You'd want to think it's an oversight, but at this point with multiple experiences I think it's deliberate and management is okay with it. So, sad as it makes me, it's off my list. I was a customer since 2014.... now the Pilgrims progress which was one of the top selling sandwich had literally 2 slices of paper-thin turkey LUNCHMEAT. barely an advocado which made it all worth while.... I think they should reevaluate before they go under. Lobby used to be full at noon. I just got Door Dash from here. Might be the best Erik's experience ever. My REO Speedwagon was so fresh, especially the sourdough, and had perfectly proportioned ingredients. I also got a cup of vegetarian vegetable, which is the best soup ever and mine was delivered nice and HOT. Yum -it's cold today... and the carrot cake rivals any carrot cake served. Great frosting, fresh moist cake, could really taste all the spices, carrot, and cream cheese. A+ all round. Kind of made my day!! read more

Never had a bad meal here. They seem to add new menu items and they're always great to try. The staff is pleasant and efficient. The bathrooms are always clean. I have only good things to say after eating at several Erik's over the years. I have a few favorites like Abbotts Habit and Raging Bull! I went in for an online order pick up and I witnessed the only employee working at the moment, an older gentleman, seeming a little irritated already with the costumer he was already helping. He rang her up at the register and wiped his face with his gloved hand and proceeded to make my sandwich. I asked for a refund saying I had to be somewhere else, he had an attitude saying he was taking an order when I walked in, which he was, and told me I had to go through Google. So I very quietly told him why I really wanted the refund and he rolled his eyes and scoffed at me. Making me feel like I shouldn't even had said anything but this is food I'm paying for, and I should at least be able to voice my concerns about how he was improperly handling my food. He then changed his gloves and made another sandwich but he sure let me know it was an inconvenience for him. I would say if you really want to eat here, don't order online, go inside and watch while they prepare your food. That was just very disappointing. read more

Today was our first time trying Erik's. I had a recommendation from a friend and we decided to check it out. We were happy to see that wheat was not listed as an allergen in the Chowder so my wife was able to enjoy a bowl. We were both happy with the soup and I like the sandwich. The service was top notch and the food great. This locator was very clean, the counter looked great, and the price is very reasonable. I also tried some Carrot cake. There was 4 employees total. 1 on break, 1 in back and 2 making sandwiches. There was 2 people in front of us each getting one sandwich. The employees had no move with a purpose. The girl came off break and the guy went on break. Instead of her making the orders she went to the other employee making sandwiches and was just lolligagging chatting for about 8 minutes before she started making sandwiches. It took about a half hour to get our order. I ordered a raging bull and barn buster. Not much to the barnbuster, no flavor and got jipped on the meat. I had never been to an Erik's before. Came for the first time maybe two months ago. The staff is always so friendly and and attentive. Food is excellent. I came because they had a Rueben sandwich. So good and served properly every time. Some places serve it sauerkraut side down which is incorrect. The juice from the kraut will seep into the bread and make it soggy. I can't with soggy bread. I can't vouch for everything, I've only had the Rueben and the chicken Gorgonzola salad. Both delicious I have yet to meet a grumpy or even semi grumpy employee. They even have a rewards program. Once I signed up, I got money off my order today. Please come support these guys. read more

Erik's deli is pure nostalgia for me. This is where I would eat weekly growing up in the Bay Area/Central Coast, so there may be some bias in this review. I remember that when I first started eating at this Seaside location, it didn't match the quality from older locations that had really perfected the recipes. I think I actually pleaded with management in an older review to fix the tomato soup recipe because it wasn't quite right. I can say that my soup today was so perfect and brought me right back to my carefree adolescence! So thank you, Erik's Deli of Seaside and well done! My seadog sandwich was also of the same great quality that it's always been. The shop is obviously not allowing indoor dining right now, but we got here early and were able to enjoy lunch outside at one of their two tables. read more

Watching him build my Farmers Market sandwich into perfect proportions I immediately knew I had to take a picture. You see, eating healthy shouldn't leave you hungry. After ordering lunch for our family, we took a look at the receipt... it was $59 and some change. This seemed a bit high and sure enough, we were charged for two extra sandwiches that we did not order. The man working the counter assured us that he would give us a refund for this and showed us a new receipt with the refunded amount on it. Another customer had an issue with his charges also while we were, but we chalked it up to the man working the counter as having a bad day... However, feeling like the man was a little shady, I checked my credit card bill when we got home, and sure enough, no refund was actually given! He just made it look like one had. I want my refund! I don't care that it's $10. It's the principle that matters. What a scammer that guy is! Just wanted everyone who goes there to beware. The Seaside location of this regional chain was warmly welcomed to the "downtown" corridor, as some kind of reasonable lunch spot on Broadway was badly needed, and as such we hope they continue here. The service and quality are very much in line with other Erik's locations, which is to say they're a bit above average for the sit down sandwich place. The sandwiches are "original" creations with some local spins, and it's nice to have a place that has the quality control of a chain combined with a little local flavor. That said, the more "California" sandwiches -- vegetables, sprouts, unusual combinations -- are much better than the processed or cooked meat sandwiches (ranging from roast beef to the current special of Thai roast pork). This has become a bit of a theme with my local reviews of late, but chewy roast beef and completely vanilla and banal commercial salami give deli sandwiches a bad name. I do like the option of being able to get soup, and the soups are decent if not special, but it must be said they're simply loaded with salt -- way too much, and this comes from a fan of good old sodium chloride. Like all Erik's, this has some pot bellied stoves for it schtick, odd seating (too many of those bar-style high tables), and local historical photos. I do appreciate the high ceilings and big windows that make it a more pleasant place to eat than most. You'll walk out $10 lighter for sandwich and a drink when the dust settles, but the sandwiches are ample and fresh and may come with a pickle or little salad depending on what you order. The half sandwich and soup deal is pretty good. Some caveats: we've occasionally had slow service at night, when the traffic is particularly slow; and they seem to have had periodic problems stocking their bottled beverages. They also don't have any kid-size options or milk for the kids to drink. And I cannot recommend the often tepid and usually tasteless coffee. Also: please put this on your list of stores that have not joined the debit card revolution. I hate having to sign a slip for a sandwich transaction under $20. Bottom line: great to have for a better lunch option in the area, but not a restaurant you'd go out of your way to eat at if you're a visitor. If you go, buy the "unusual" sandwiches, which are good to great, and skip processed meats or "standard" sandwiches. read more

Horrible service and the food was even worse. We were the second customers in line. Actually I'm sure we were the only customers as it seemed like the cashier helping the other people seemed to know them on a personal level and was giving out free samples and joking around before we even walked in. The girl who helped us also made our sandwiches and bowls of soup and they were such disappointments! We left an email thru their website and still haven't heard anything back. I ordered a sandwich with veggies and the only veggie I got was tomato. What the hell? No avocado or lettuce of any sort like it was advertised. My boyfriends sandwich had no horseradish like it was supposed to have and his soup was a cup not a bowl like we were charged. I ordered the Salsa Ranch salad without tortilla strips or cheese. It tasted fine, but I probably won't come again. There are other places (like even Panera) where you can get much bigger salads with a higher ratio of toppings, more ingredient complexity, and more options. Pros: 1. The thousand island dressing was pretty decent. 2. They were pretty generous with the amount of chicken. Cons: 1. There was no avocado even though it was promised. 2. The salad was much smaller than other salads I have eaten at similar price points and not justified by any particular uniqueness. 3. There were two small chicken bones in my salad. read more

Third time in a row I got home to realize that I got the wrong sandwich (ham, not pastrami/turkey), as well as no extra onions. At least she changed her gloves because this was for an allergy, but now reviewing the receipt, I can see that the order put in was an REO Speed Wagon?, which I've never heard of before. So they put in our order wrong, which means I wasn't even listened to while ordering. The change of gloves is not worth any additional stars. This restaurant needs to get their crap in order. The next time I'm in the store, I will ensure that I hold up the line (if there is one, which there never is at this location, probably because of the crappy and inconsistent service), in order to unwrap every single item that I order and visually inspect every ounce of what I have rightfully purchased. I would recommend that every single other customer do the same, every single time you come to this restaurant, because the children that are managing the store, are not capable in any way whatsoever, and should not be entrusted with a sandwich, let alone any other aspect of life. read more

The lady, likely a manager, came out waving a piece of paper and interrupting my husband and I ordering our food to ask about either a Google or yelp review, or maybe a mystery shop (conjecture, I couldn't actually see what it was), berating the employees in front of us for it. This made me uncomfortable and I almost left. The gentleman that made my sandwich was awesome, though (Phillip, one of the managers). At this point, he might be the only reason I return. I felt respected, valued, and important when talking to him. I have obnoxious dietary restrictions, and he went above and beyond to find me something I could eat.
