StreamWise Solutions - outdoor TV antenna

StreamWise Solutions

(42 reviews)

Five stars for StreamWise Solutions, and special recognition for Juan…read more I originally contacted StreamWise to install an outdoor OTA antenna for our home. I've been using OTA television for about 13 years and currently have five TVs, each with its own indoor antenna. That setup worked, but I wanted to finally move to a properly installed outdoor antenna that could serve the entire house. StreamWise absolutely delivered on that. The reception from the new outdoor antenna is outstanding. Channels that could be inconsistent with the indoor antennas are now coming in extremely well, and having one properly installed antenna serving the house is a much cleaner and better solution. But surprisingly, the OTA installation may not even be the most valuable thing StreamWise did for me. Our house already had RJ45/Ethernet connections installed in multiple rooms, but they were useless because the wiring and central panel was not complete / bad. I wanted to take advantage of those connections for years because I prefer hardwired internet for stationary devices rather than having everything competing over Wi-Fi. Juanito took the time to look at the existing wiring, understand what had been done in the house, troubleshoot the panel, and get the Ethernet connections functioning. And he explained the setup so I actually understand how to manage it going forward. That is the real game changer for me. We're a family of four with a lot of connected devices, multiple TVs, streaming, security cameras, and everything else on three floors! Until now, most of that depended heavily on Wi-Fi. With the existing Ethernet infrastructure finally working, I can hardwire TVs and other high-use stationary devices (work laptop) throughout the house and reserve Wi-Fi for the devices that actually need it. That should allow me to get much more out of the internet connection I already have rather than simply paying for increasingly higher bandwidth. It also gives me the flexibility to consider lower-cost internet plans and other ISPs because the home network itself is no longer the bottleneck. That is what impressed me most about Juanito. He didn't simply show up, install the antenna I requested and leave. He recognized another problem that was important to me, took the time to work through it, fixed it, and then helped me understand the solution. That kind of service is worth calling out. So if you're considering StreamWise for an OTA antenna, I can absolutely recommend them. The antenna installation and reception have been excellent. But in my case, getting the wired network throughout my house working properly may end up being even more valuable over the long term. This is not inexpensive work especially all the things I needed help with like my RJ45 fix so I spent the money to do it right. I expect my ROI to take a few years, if not in one year if I can get the right ISP and affordable plan soon. In short, excellent work by StreamWise and especially Juanito. This was one of those service calls where I ended up getting considerably more value than I expected. Highly recommended. p.s. once I get the new internet, start seeing the savings plan to look at other options as needed. A mesh system to increase any bandwidth dead spots, I find and possibly the Tablo concept. Most likely will give Streamwise that business. I need them to stick around.

Fiber has recently reached our neck of the woods with another provider who offered a smashing…read more6-month deal, but in the end we've decided to stick with Kellin. Kellin has impeccable one-on-one customer support, where you can speak with a human, and get whatever issue resolved in a timely / friendly manner. We have had very few (emphasis on "very few") issues with Kellin over the years (most were the fault of outside causes like cut cables), and when researching the competition and learning how difficult it is to reach them, and are slow to respond (especially after the initial sale has completed), we are most assuredly staying with Kellin Communications.

I switched to…read moreConexon Connect fiber simply because they offered the speed that Kellin couldn't give me in Peyton. I had no issues with Kellin previously, and I told them that when I called to cancel. I made an appointment to have them come and pick up the old device and told them to take my final payment out so my contract could be closed out. My appointment came and went on Wednesday, which I cleared my entire day to be available. I call, they say they have the appointment for Friday. Fine, I wait all day Friday and no one shows up. I email them Monday, they say someone should be there Tuesday. Now we're to Wednesday and still no one has shown up. I have never missed a payment. I have never complained. I have been nothing but nice the one or two times I had connection issues because their tech support was very helpful. What I don't understand is why they can't handle coming and grabbing a single device and being done with it. I already unhooked and packed the parts from the house, and I told them so. I don't know if they're retaliating because I'm canceling or if it's just incompetence, but this is my warning to avoid Kellin unless you want an absolute headache when you go to cancel.

DISH

DISH

I started with Dish Network in March. Since then, I have received two attempts to tack on charges…read more Dish refers to them as "Roll On" charges. The free services they offer as an incentive will AUTOMATICALLY begin showing up in your bill at the end of the promotional period if you don't contact them. They should be sending out an email with an "Opt in" feature to extend the service at a monthly charge. At minimum, they should have an option to "Opt out". But Dish Network knows that making it easy for the consumer will result in low renewal rates. So, they simply tack it onto your bill hoping no one notices or doesn't have the time to go online and have it reversed. When I did contact them via chat, the representative was attempting to convince me to keep the DISH Protect Silver service. I don't think they understood my frustration was the sneaky way they are attempting to bolt on additional charges without an easy way to opt out. Here is the transcript. Me: I just noticed my monthly bill went up $10.00. From 71.02 to 81.02 Jalil: With DISH Protect Silver, you're receiving great benefits like: -$0 Technician Visits ($95 without DISH Protect) -Identity recovery assistance for stolen credit cards, ID theft, and more -10% off Smart Home Services, including TV Installation, sound bars, mesh WiFi, and more. Me: I never signed up for that. I wish Dish would not automatically include these new charges on my bill. If I don't stop and take the time and pay attention to my bill and then reach out to you, I will automatically get charged. Guess that is how it works with a large percentage of people who don't pay attention to their bill. Jalil: I understand that, Robert. No worries, I got you and I can help you with this. Me: This is the second time since I signed up in March that I found a new fee Dish was attempting to get past me. Jalil: But just so you may know, you have this protection plan since you started your service, it's free for last 6 months. Jalil: Also, these free offers are Roll to pay, that said after the free promotion, they will be automatically added to your account. Me: Fine. But why would you automatically add it to my bill? Why not an email asking me? An opt in vs an automatic add to the bill. Do you understand how this appears like a scam? Jalil: I really understand that, Robert, and I would definitely feel the same. But we're sending emails if there's an expiring promo. Jalil: You can check your inbox or spam. If nothing's there, we can update your email address on file if you want. :) Jalil: Going back to DISH protect Jalil: As a Dish Protect customer your equipment is protected, and in the case there is an issue it will be resolved at a discounted price. Jalil: By removing DISH Protect you become subject to: -Full price Technician Visits, currently $95 (free for DISH Protect customers) -Shipping costs associated with replacement equipment (free for DISH Protect customers) Me: I got the email. Look at it. There is a simple statement of the amount I am being billed on 10/8 with a breakdown of the charges. No "Opt In" option that the "roll to pay" is available if I want to extend. Not even an Opt Out. I have to stop what I'm doing and waste time getting these charges removed. I'll stop ranting and publish it so others are aware. Jalil: I understand that, Robert. You're always free to remove it before the end date, you just need to contact us or do it on your MyDISH.com account. Me: Please remove the $10.00 charge. Jalil: Sure thing, Robert! :) As a one-time courtesy, I can remove DISH Protect & waive the $30 removal Fee for you. Jalil: All is set, Robert! :) With the changes made today, your new monthly rate is $71.03 after taxes. Me: No one ever told me there would be a $30.00 removal fee. What is going on? Jalil: It's for removing the DISH protect within XXX days of adding it, no worries, I've got you covered, Robert :) Jalil: Is there anything else that I can help you with? Me: No. Thank you.
