Eric Kayser is one of our favorite pâtisseries in Paris! We were lucky to have this location near our hotel as we picked up a bunch of goodies here for our morning walks almost every other day! My favorite would have to be the Sandwich Mixte which consisted of ham, cheese, and butter on a baguette. I would also grab a plain croissant for a midday snack; super fluffy and buttery. Hubby usually picked up a different sandwich almost every day along with several pastries. It is so worth it if you're walking around Paris. You basically burn off the calories, haha. This place was basically around the block from the Holiday Inn Notre Dame where we're staying. We had a quiche ( we shared) an americano coffee, earl grey tea and 2 madeleines. Total 12.40 euros. One of the best bakeries we ate at in Paris! The bread rolls are so simple yet so delicious. I highly recommend their olive rolls. The almond croissant and pain au chocolat are also really good here, both are so soft and buttery and not too sweet. Perhaps my absolute favorite item of theirs is the financier pistache - one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. It is soft and moist inside, with a perfectly crispy outside and the right amount of sweetness. Just divine! The service is not particularly friendly, but I suppose I will forgive them for that because the food is so good. read more

Sometimes you have to duplicate perfection! Eric Kayser is a chain, but it is one of the best French bakeries I have been to. We had to catch an early morning train to Versailles so we just grabbed our pastries to go. (There is no seating in the bakery so dining in isn't an option.) We selected several pastries so we could try a little bit of everything. Our croissant, chocolate beignet, and almond pastry were all fantastic! There was a bit of a line behind us at the pastry counter and the girl behind the counter didn't speak English so I was a bit flustered as I tried to order breakfast and forgot to order coffee. It looked like sandwiches, tarts and chocolates were served at the counter in the front of the store, but I couldn't figure out where to order coffee so we just left with just our pastries. Since we didn't get any coffee we had to go across the street to St. Arbucks for coffee. I have a rule of not visiting American restaurants while I'm in Europe, but I needed my caffeine fix so we broke the rule and purchased coffee from Starbucks. read more

There's also an express lunch formula with a baguette sandwich and drink for 5.70 euro. I had a good prosciutto, cheese and vegetable baguette sandwich - bread was lovely. The chocolate dessert tasted like a dense brownie even though it wasn't. Relatively inexpensive lunch in Paris. Staff speaks some English but don't have time to explain to you as it gets busy at lunch. There's only about 6 barstools available inside. read more

Eric Kayser may be the unfriendliest bakery we encountered in Paris, but it's still the one I returned to the most. As someone who never considers anything without chocolate to be dessert (and certainly anything with fruit), I was completely won over by the raspberry financier. Truly exceptional and I went back for them a few more times. Decent croissants though we preferred the ones up the street at the Smiths. Friendly and quick service. Just spent 5 glorious days in Paris. Eric Kayser was directly across the street from the Left Bank Hotel we stayed at. Came here on a daily basis, was never disappointed...their bread is superb....I honestly couldn't say one was better than the other but if someone held a gun to my head and told me to pick just one.....I'd have to say the Olive Loaf...OMG! Kayser is a reliable, generally solid chain. The baguette tradition (Monge) with pointed ends is really nice and crusty, so airy on the inside that it's almost all crust, a big plus for me. Thanks to his use of liquid levain, the baguette tends to be a little more on the sour side, but that's a big plus, very nice flavor. Croissants and pain au chocolat were also surprisingly good, if slightly too greasy. I tried a few of the pâtisseries, which were fine but not great. The tarte vanille/rhubarbes was boring, with a nice tart flavor from the compote of rhubarb chunks, but the vanilla crème didn't really add anything and the pâte sablée crust was similarly uninteresting. Liked the flavors in the pistachio-raspberry éclair, but the filling was unusually dense, more like a ganache than a custard creme, and the choux pastry was sort of doughy, again uninteresting. Instead, go for the cookies, especially dark chocolate & pecan (I know, cookies in France?!) which are terrific, buttery and crumbly and not overly sweet. read more

Good spot for a quick breakfast or lunch on a trip to the Musee D'Orsay. It's only a few blocks from the entrance, and it seems to be place that many tourists have discovered for their baked goods and sandwiches. We went on a morning that was particularly crowded and they seemed to be understaffed, so table service was slow. There are only a dozen tables so you may need to wait for a seat. Since lines are very long at D'Orsay, it might be advisable to get your order to go and to eat it in line. The bread breakfast combination is literally that, toasted baguette, juice and coffee, so if you want a croissant of some type order the "pastry breakfast." read more

Have been employed with the company I was very excited at first to be joing the crew. Being as I just finished going to school as a pastry chef being employed within the same line of work made me feel like I was on the right path!! However , it wasnt long before I observed and witnessed the mishaps of the business. I was located at the 400 5th avenue location and management first of all lack alot of responsibility!!! When other co workers would slack off and not do they're job accordingly its either laughed and look past or not mentioned at all. Which is very confusing for me coming from a manegerial background. One thing that is very obvious is the lack of structure within the company. As far as managers no one is on the same page and only seems like it runs sufficiently is when corporate comes to visit!! Co workers want to act like managers and managers are still trying to figure out how to be managers . A red flag for me was noticing the turn around in people quitting and not taking the job seriously ! I personally have witness on more than just one occassion of my co workers being rude to customers either speaking directly to them or mumbling underneathe their breathe and I personally wouldnt want people working for my brand and representing my products in that magnitude. Further more , after being employed for some time my personal belongings began to go missing and after bringing it to managment attention and not getting a direct response to how the situation would be resolved was very displeasing to me . A whole week went by and I never heard anything back from my direct manager after reporting the incident. To help out becauase I seen the General manager was trying to do her best at the moment but was very short handed after working a few doubles I offer the assistance of a friend whom at the time was also looking for work , after being interviewed and hired was only employed for two weeks before he began to feel uncomfortable with the attention he recieved from a supervisor named Yasmine . Not soon after did he resign. The biggest discrepency I must say is the way management handles conflict within the workplace. I had reported to my immediate supervisor about my co worker disappearing off the floor leaving me to be barista and apprentice while being short staffed that night one of the supervisor and co worker whom have been working together longer and more familiar with each other held conversation to what I thought was innappropriate to have in front of customers and secondly lasted a whole half hour . After closing the barista station as I was trained to do and left for the night I felt like I was being taken advantage of because I would always do my work plus more but after demonstrating the same behavior repetitivly I decided to just go home and tell my manager . Hoping that my next shift would be better. When coming into my next shift before I could even punch in for work I was told that staff was upset with me for reporting the behaviors of my co workers to management . None the less I clocked in and worked my entire shift . Before leaving I wanted to clear the air and explain to Chaney who was the fellow co worker that I had complained about. Apparently still being upset he began to raise his voice and the conversation eacalated to where I was threatened by a man whom is 6 feet tall and I am 5 feet 2 inches tall. After leaving the building that night I had decided the behaviors and structure of Maison Kayser isnt where I wish to demonstrate my talents and grow with the company as I once thought. I immediately called my general manager and distruct manager to explain that being threatened by a man at work is unacceptable to me and I was tild they would call the supervisor that was on shift and go over the video and get back to me . Very disappointing as it is NOONE GOT BACK TO ME . So I took it as confirmation that this job wasnt meant for me. Im writing this review in hopes that someone will read this because NOONE IN THE WORKPLACE SHOULD EVER FEEL INTIMIDATED ON SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF ANOTHER CO WORKER . read more

I tried to order a simple tea and croissants (on April 20, 2017 around 9.30 am to be exact) , but he made me feel as if I was asking unnecessary questions when I asked why types of teas they offer. The service was excellent; the gentleman at the counter was kind and able to speak some English with us. The food was excellent for the price, too. We came into this bakery for breakfast nearly every day of the week we stayed in the 6th in Paris. Also stopped for one of there wonderful loaves (excellent crumb and crust) after I purchased the famous Bordier butter, which incidentally traveled on to Italy with us! The bread here is excellent and so are the croissants. Grab a bottle of wine and supplies from your favorite cheese shop and eat in one night for a change! read more
