Erath Winery had a large tasting room in the Pearl district and was not what I was expected when I walked in! They have a wonderful space with high ceilings and a great lounge area as you check in and then large tables in the back that are private. It does look like you can potentially rent out the space as well as there were curtains to create privacy. Came just for a tasting and if you enjoy your reds the tasting here is only $25 which is a pretty good deal. The pinots were enjoyable and they may share some specials that they may have in season too. read more

We learned alot about Erath farming and harvesting grapes while tasting two flights, the Terrior and the Estate. Mostly Pinot Noir which is what you would expect in the Willamette Valley. Also, a Chardonnay and dessert wine rounded out the tasting flights. Casual and contemporary inside with an elegant flair - lots of seating for small parties or very big parties. A few years back (before COVID-19), I spent an afternoon at the Dundee area tasting room. That experience needed to be more robust, and the staff were rude and slow. Fast-forward to 2023 at the Pearl tasting room... and what an incredible experience! When you enter from the street, you are greeted with a warm ambience, plants, and quiet music that beckons you to the service counter. I was impressed with the design of the space and the curated seating areas, which all seemed to be slightly different. The team (clearly) put immense care into a space that adapts to different needs, experiences, and potential guests. After being seated, the staff was fantastic. Since this was my first time here, they spent a ton of time explaining possible experiences, and we ended up settling for the blind-tasting expertise and one of the AVA flights. This was a phenomenal experience since your palette opens up to learn more about the wines, varietals, and more with this double tasting. They have a perfectly executed food menu (in my opinion) that also welcomes you to try new foods and diets, especially when considering the Vegan Caviar... which is fantastic. Several food items would work for an array of people, showing the care and attention to detail the staff must have taken to create a space for everyone. I enjoyed the Willikaia Chardonnay the most, so I did leave with a few bottles, given that summer is around the corner. My only recommendation would be to add patio seating or to open up to the large windows and doors more often when the weather is pleasant. My partner and I have belonged to the Erath cellar society since we moved to Portland two years ago. The wine flights are unparalleled and particularly the tasting bites that come with the cellar society limited release each quarter. Although they specialize in Pinot noir-- which they do exceptionally-- they have a tart Chardonnay that refreshes your taste for the Oakes alternatives in California. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and the interior is cozy and inviting. If you're feeling a bit peckish I'd highly recommend their boards. The new tasting room is beautiful! It's cozy and comfortable, has bar seating, a few tables and couch areas, as well as some private event spaces. We sat at the bar and ordered the Pino Nior tasting (of course) and the charcuterie board. Wow! Absolutely love this spot! We had the Wine Tasting Flight & Vegan Cheese Board, made with "cheese" from the local vegan cheese shop. All wines here are also vegan. Make sure to make a reservation so you can get your own comfy chair and couch area. However, it seems the reservation ends after about 2 hours, which we weren't aware of, so just plan accordingly and maybe look at the menu before you arrive. I came here with a few friends after an Exhibit at the art museum. I'd previously visited their former tasting room in Dundee years ago and it was a so-so experience. The wine wasn't memorable, and the space was outdated. In truth, I had a gift certificate from a co-worker and wanted to share the spoils of it with my small group this time around. The experience this time however, was much better than I had anticipated. The tasting room is a nice blend of industrial ( concrete, metal) and lots of warm wood (the beautiful bar top and tables really warm up the space). Our tasting experience also included some chocolate and cheese boards, which really worked with the wines we tasted. We are big on Pinot (would be criminal to say otherwise in this town). Erath did not disappoint. The stuff we tasted from Willakia and Bishop Creek was especially delicious. The service was friendly and not intrusive. We know what it can feel like to be smothered, especially when out tasting in the valley. Our wine consultant was really great at taking a step back to let us taste on our own. We really appreciated it. We ended up buying a case of wine and some other goodies from their gift section. I love being surprised and Erath really provided me with that. It isn't often we make it back into the Pearl District but we will be visiting this tasting room in the future. read more

We used to belong to the wine club here and I really enjoyed it. We ended up with too many wine clubs (I know how could that be)? I had heard that the tasting room was ceasing operation as of March 14, 2020, so I thought I should pay a visit prior to it closing. The wine was good as always and customer service was spot on. There was no mention of the tasting room closing until I asked if they were having the tunes on the terrace as they often do. I was then told of the wine tasting room closing and that they would reopen at a different location as yet unknown. I hope that's true as I've always enjoyed Ste Michelle's wines. The employee did say you could still order wines online. There are a great deal of the more common ones available in grocery stores as well. Hope they reopen. read more

Beautiful setting, reasonable ($10-15) tasting fee. The views here are unbelievable. Do not come here looking for great wine, it's just OK. Great place to take a couple of photos of your group in the parking lot with the vineyards and mountains as a backdrop. Do the tasting if you'd like a reasonably-priced flight. The wines are nice, but pretty ordinary stuff, and some available in local retail stores. The guy conducting the tasting seemed neither knowledgeable nor enthusiastic about his job. There was a second person there (woman) that had a lot more insight into the wines. We didn't buy any wine here - it was a pleasant enough visit, but that's about it. read more

This was the second winery my mom and I visited in Dundee on Memorial Day. First of all, we were warmly greeted by Gary, who ended up doing our whole tasting. Side note: tasting fee was $15 for six tasting PLUS a free stemless wine glass! Bonus! Gary was great: very knowledgeable and if he didn't know the answer to a question he went and found out for you. We had a total of 6 tastings: two whites - Pinot Gris and Pinot blank - and four Pinot noirs. I am not a huge white wine fan but the two we tasted I quite enjoyed. My mom and I even signed up to be a part of their wine club! Great benefits and four ships a year. I am very exited for the first shipment and I can't eat to return to Erath. An overall wonderful afternoon spent. The tasting room itself is located on top of one of the Dundee Hills and has a marvelous view! Their winery sits up on a very beautiful hill...the tasting room is cozy with lots of wood, reminded me of a nice size log cabin...the tasting bar had plenty of room to linger without bumping elbows... the staff, totally fun! I hit up a few wineries in McMinnville today and this was my favorite! Great light Pinot blanc. Good for summer time with some light cheese. The Pinot Gris was also good. A little bit more bold. They had a really good Pinot that was called Prince hill pommard. I bought a bottle. It had a sting bold front with an aroma of pepper and an amazingly smooth finish on the palette. If u buy anything over $30 the tasting $ goes towards it purchase for a nice little discount. The staff pouring tastings was really friendly and informative. We picked up some cheese and crackers on the way out. They have a nice mini fridge with some small snacks to pair with the wine. I recommend this spot for tasting in the valley. The tasting room is in a nice place in the city. We opted for the Magique Library tastings. This was a $40 tasting. We knew the bottles would be special, but we didn't expect three of the four on our flight to be priced over $100. The staff were nice, but left us to ourselves with only a little bit explanation on the wines they wanted us to taste. We were disappointed in the taste of the expensive wines. The 2009 Pinot tasted a little moldy. They did not taste their product before serving it. We were just disappointed with the experience. We ordered a glass of wine that we knew we would like and enjoyed that much more than the tasting. We enjoy good wine. I guess it takes a different palette to enjoy this type wine. read more

Erath is always so PRETTY and oddly quite homey. The staff are friendly, quick and if you are there doing a flight it's done slightly different but much more streamlined in the case you're there during a rush. They bring all the tastes out and then you pour them in your glass instead of having to stand at a counter or return to the counter which makes it a space to be very social with limited interruption which is kinda cool. I was there with a group of six and we all had a wonderful and relaxing time. If you are in for some adventure they do a 4-bottle mystery box for $65 - I HIGHLY recommend this as a Christmas white elephant gift as long as you don't open it up before so it's actually a surprise to everyone. This winery is located not too far from the main town of Dundee. Be prepared because the drive to get here is on a gravel road and gets a bit dusty and your car will get dirty, and the parking is a little bit "tricky". The day I came was on a hot blistering August day. This was my second stop with my friends on our friends daughters birthday winery tour. We had been driving for over an hour and we were SO GLAD we could go INSIDE where it was nice and cool and air conditioned and had plenty of fresh, cool water!! The place was packed! I guess everyone out wine tasting knew to come here because they had air conditioning. Even though it was packed, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The guy running the wine tasting was very bubbly and friendly. The first few wines he brought out were not my kinda wines so I passed. He kept telling me he was saving his sweetest "dessert" wine for last so I happily hung around and waited. When that bottle finally came out and I had a taste I KNEW I had found what I was looking for!!! It's called a Sweet Harvest Pinot Blanc from 2009. My oh my...let me tell you this is probably the BEST Pinot Blanc I have EVER had in my life. Simply delicious!!! I was just disappointed that the bottle was so small!! Well, this Pinot Blanc is $30 a bottle!! I normally do not spend that much money on wine, especially the smaller bottled ones, but it was SO delicious I had to splurge!! When I went to check out the wine guy that had served me this particular wine took $10 off the price!! Needless to say I was jazzed beyond belief and left with a smile. I recently visited Erath for the first time after enjoy their wines for a over 20 years. This was one of the best winery experiences that I have ever had. It was a Saturday and they very busy, but Barbara greeted us within 30 seconds. Lots of staff on board so no waiting. MAJOR PLUS. Barbara was amazing. She has the keen ability to make us feel like the most important customers. Engaging and knowledgable. A absolute pleasure. This is my second visit to Erath and the second stop on our wine tasting tour today. Our party of 14 arrived and we were seated on the patio/deck. My son and daughter in law, also known as the Bride and Groom, planned a lunch to accompany the wine tasting. The location is simply beautiful. Our hostess taught us all about the different wines we were served. I like a sweeter desert wine the best and so 3 bottles are being sent to me back home. Where do I begin? Now my mind may have been a bit hazy last Sunday afternoon...as we hit up five different wineries in the Dundee vineyards area. But I DO remember quite well our visit to Erath. How could I not?? I won't put this lightly...their Pinot, and their whites were beyond the BEST we went to. I am not a wine snob. I don't throw down a bunch of cash for a spendy bottle. I am one of the Trader Joes regulars loving my Charles Shaw....it does the job...shall we say.... :) don't judge...! This is how it went down. My husband and myself were with a large group that should of rolled up in a extra long limousine all already sipping on our mimosas ready for the sights and flights. But our limo canceled on us, so we all devided into two SUVs and found our way through the valley to our googled choices of wineries nearby. (Mimosas still happened though...shhhh..) Dobbes, Duck Pond, Domain and another I can't remember...but Erath was by far the most prettiest, gorgeous old time modern, grounds perfected to a tee, and staff that was beyond lovely and knowledgable. The other winery experiences we went to were more rushing us through and seemed to just want our money and that's all they wrote. But Erath was truly a personable and enjoyable time. For some reason we are always the loudest and most obnoxious group around, we all have way too much fun!!! Especially with good wines in the mix...watch out...you will probably fall into our circle of fun and have a blast with us! :) but our lady who was going through the flight with us was so nice and had such fun with us, I wish I could remember her name, she was fabulous! Okay, now I know wine "Know it alls" are shaking their heads at my trader joes wine shenanigans but I have found a new love. I will conquer more wineries! I will raise my glass up to new adventures of wine tasting and I will turn a slight left turn around the corner two steps behind and away from the mountains of Charles Shaw and find the rows of beloved local wine varieties of Pinots and Chardonnays, grown right here in our Oregon backyard. :) I've been missing out on so much!! I thank you Erath for giving us new experiences and insight to your lovely land that is worth a million smiles. :) oh and btw I ended up spending enough money to buy a small horse with all that glorious wine.
