My boyfriend and I were looking for an engagement ring and I found Era Gem online after looking at I don't know how many hundreds of rings on the internet. I knew I wanted an antique, but we were very nervous about purchasing online. Fortunately, we live near Seattle and we were able to visit their Bellevue store in person. When we arrived I realized that I had made a huge mistake - I misread their website that said walk-ins by appointment only! It was entirely my fault and felt defeated when we arrived and saw the sign on the door. We tried calling, but the staff was on the phone (we could hear them through the door). In his pacing while on the phone Michael spotted us out side the door, opened the door, and invited us inside right away! Even though the website and sign say appointment only, these guys are more than willing to meet with you even if you didn't make an appointment. In fact, as we were leaving another couple came in without an appointment and they were helped right away too. As for the ring itself... all I can say is that it's perfect. We had come in to see one ring in particular, but my boyfriend wanted to make sure it was the right one. He vaguely asked "Can we see others of a similar design too?" Of course we could. Michael took a minute to go through their catalog and headed back to their vault. He returned just a few minutes later with 7-8 rings for us to check out, all of which were beautiful. Then the three of us sat around his desk while I tried them all on and trying to narrow the selection down. Eventually there were only three rings left, including the one we had come in to see, when I realized that I needed help deciding. That's where Michael really started to shine. He pointed out to me that the shape of my fingers and the shape of the ring should be complimentary and helped us find the one that we all agreed looked best. The only problem was that it wasn't the one that we had come in for and was more expensive. I needed just a little more reassurance and so Michael thought it would be a good idea to take the ring outside into natural light to prove it did in fact sparkle just as much as the other ring. He was very trusting of us and didn't make it feel strange at all; we just got up, ring still on my finger, and walked outside. No big deal. The ring was perfect! Back inside we figured out my ring size and Michael told us that they would take care of resizing the ring. We were so satisfied with the ring and the experience that we didn't even try to negotiate on the price. However, we hadn't expect to purchase anything that day, at least not that much. Again, no problem. We were able to put it on a 90 day layaway (or even 92 days if we needed) with only 1/3 down and payments whenever we can. They even pay the tax for you if you buy it in store (if it's shipped to other states there's no tax, so they make sure all their customers are treated equally). It really was an excellent experience. Not everyone can visit in person, but if you're going to purchase a ring online please rest assured that Michael and the staff are kind, patient, and more than competent. My fiance bought me a 3 stone diamond engagement ring. It was beautiful, just not me. I wanted something antique, vintage-looking, but still classy. I love the idea of buying anything antique, especially jewelry. It means so much to me that no new mining for metals or stones occurred for the making of my engagement ring. I've loved checking out EraGem's website for years; they have the best photographer, best pricing, and best customer service...the little things like free re-sizing is such a big deal in my book (many other vendors charge an additional fee, and with a 3.75 finger, I need just about everything re-sized). I ordered my engagement ring off of their website and within a day it was at our door! The ring is gorgeous and I love that I was able to get one secondhand. The only downside with my experience is that after less than two weeks the diamond fell out of the ring's setting due to worn out prongs. This was a simple fix with our local jeweler, but I wish this damage had been taken into account when the ring was being priced as I have now had to spend more money than anticipated on this piece. I had been searching high and low for a sapphire eternity band. I love the idea of buying antique jewelry as opposed to new and passing it down in my family. Well I had been searching for months and months online, and I stumbled upon EraGem's website. They had a number of different choices, and in different sizes too! With eternity bands, it can be more difficult and costly to resize it, and I was suprised to see that they had several antique rings in my size! I had emailed them back and forth about various questions such as layaway, and they always responded quickly, usually within the same day I asked. When I received my ring it was very secure in a box with bubble wrap, and it was in a very nice ring box with their logo on it, and in a velvet pouch.
