I've been on a mission to try every business on the main strip of East Quogue, so Nomad East was…read morethe next one up. I walked in on a Monday morning to find the two owners finishing up with personal clients. The space has a ton of equipment, neatly organized. Every size weight you could want, rowing machines, and even a small sauna in the back. Both owners were extremely welcoming and explained the set up of the class. I learned that I was there for leg day, and that there was just one other person joining this class. That one other person was a tall man who was extremely in shape. I am in a shape (but that shape is round), so I became concerned about what type of class could possibly accommodate both of our very different fitness levels. I'm not going to lie, I saw God in this class -- as in there were many moments where I felt like I might die, that I could not possibly row another row or squat another squat. I could barely breathe and perform these movements at the same time, yet the instructor and the other class participant were able to chat as if these reps were no big deal at all. The instructor was good about checking in with me on my form and switching out weights when they were too heavy. The class ended in a push alternating between a 500 meter row on the rowing machines and some weighted movements. I could not walk for three days after this class. If you're looking to get your a$$ whipped back into shape, this place will do it. The classes are a bit out of my personal price range to be able to come back on a regular basis at this time ($65 per class - $60 per class if you buy a 10 pack), but if I come into some money I'd come back.

The ladies who work there were incredibly helpful in setting up newbies. I wanted to buy a T-shirt but didn't try one on because I was so sweaty after class. I came back the next day and even though the place was closed for business because they were putting out the new fall line, the ladies still let me in to try on clothes and buy my shirt. Thanks for making my first Soul Cycle experience a great one!

This SYS which is heavily supported by generous locals, is now showing its age after over two…read moresuccessful decades of heavy use. There are many positives. Members are generally very satisfied with the many services and programs. The fitness center is well equipped and supervised and is kept in excellent operating condition. There are plenty of TVs with convenient connectivity to those working out. The main gym is large and accommodating to team soccer, basketball , archery and pickleball. Pickleball nets are easily assembled and the gym weekday mornings welcome free open pickleball. The locker rooms and bathrooms are very clean. There is an on-site excellent physical therapist in the fitness area, who is my go to PT expert, Mr. Matthew Mobius. On the negative side, the building is in much need of a tune up. The SYS Administration does not have a consistent record of friendly and responsive management. The front desk may be staffed with poorly supervised youth doing mandated community service. The squash court walls are particularly beat up, in immediate need of repair. Parking is often lacking due to the strong popularity of SYS. Unfortunately the facility lacks an indoor pool. SYS is an important part of the Hamptons and there is really nothing else nearby that offers such a varied and affordable sports venue. The nearest YMCA has an excellent indoor pool and is located in East Hampton.
