Gidon is GREAT! I called three highly recommended firms from Yelp. One didn't call back, one gave a rough estimate over the phone, and only Gidon came by the house, analyzed our garage slab, helped me figure out that we had a moisture problem in our slab that could have ruined the epoxy coating and made us waste a ton of money. With his advice, we first fixed the slab, and then Gidon came and did his epoxy coating. The coating looks awesome! My wife said our garage is now the nicest room in the house :) Reut was easy to work with from an office coordination perspective. And Gidon did a great job protecting the garage door during the rain so that no water seeped in while the epoxy was curing. Note on the size of the flakes: we went with 1/4" flakes. Because we still have some moisture in our slab, Gidon said we couldn't go smaller or it would be too slippery. On the small sample we had, the 1/4" flakes looked really big. However, when installed, they are visually the appropriate size. From a budgeting perspective, look at the size of the flakes quoted. If you decided to go smaller, the price will go up because it takes a greater volume of smaller flakes to cover the same surface area. FIVE STARS. I usually prefer to use friend referrals over Yelp reviews for big projects like these, but I lucked out and found Epoxy crew who did the epoxy (Basalt color) on my garage floor. The owner, Gidon, was very professional, responsive and direct in our communications. The garage is old and had significant cracks in the cement. Gidon filled the cracks with silicone and ground the cement along the floor, wall border and brick stair.The floor now looks beautiful and brand new, a much needed improvement from the dark and dreary space it was before. I would say it definitely increased value in the home as well. I was reluctant to spend money on a room I only use to park and do laundry but the garage is now a pleasant and efficient storage area. I'm very happy with Gidon's work. I told him in the beginning I did not want the cheap Rust-oleum crap that is sold at HD. From the first contact through the quotation process, preparing the floor surface and clean up after completion, Epoxy Crew were absolutely professional and a pleasure to work with. Unlike several competitive contractors Epoxy Crew sent the proprietor Gidon to do a site survey including concrete pad moisture measurement and proposed a realistic repair of the severe cracking in my garage floor pad. Gidon was present throughout the job, and he and his assistant Edouard helped move some of the heavier items for me and were extremely respectful of all property and landscaping. The recommendation was to cut through the cracks to be filled with an epoxy cement compound. The entire floor was surface ground using a vacuum dust control system that was amazingly effective in keeping the dust under control. Then the prepared floor was finished in a 3 component epoxy / flake / poly-aspartic clear top coat system, applied one day apart. Communication therought the process was perfect, Gidon called before arriving and was extremely punctual. After the final coat had dried over the weekend, Gidon came back and cleared up the site and helped move the shelves and workbench back. The quotation was a bit higher than other companies, however, when comparing the scope of the work, the superior materials used - high water pressure resistant epoxy compounds etc, the extent to which the cracks were treated and filled the value for money was excellent. It's absolutely gorgeous! Gidon of Epoxy Crew is one of the most conscientious persons who has ever done any work on our house. He and his crew did a brilliant job and I can highly recommend them. He walked us through the process, told us which products he uses and in what order, showed us all the possible color/application samples, came back a second and third time as we could not make up our minds on colors. We ended up with "Roll On Rock" which has a "Whisper Gray" base and 1/4" "Smoke" flakes. A fantastic match to our concrete walls. They were always on time, protected all our stuff, fixed all cracks expertly, prepped the floor to perfection, cleaned up after and always wanted to make sure we're happy and satisfied with the work. We did a small garage first to try it out and will do the big one after the summer. Did not want the flakes/pattern from the garage floor to show beyond the garage door, so we scored a shallow line in the concrete and did a solid color outside. It ended up not quite perfect - a windy day blew some dust on it and a cat walked on it before it was fully dried , so they came back a second time to clean it, sand it and put two more coats on it. Of the 8 quotes we received, Gideon's was right in the middle, and it felt like his work would be high quality based on the Yelp reviews and our conversation. I sat on the project for a few months because we had a few other things going on around the house. When it finally came back up to the top of my list, I followed up to book. Working with Gidon to epoxy our small garage in Berkeley was a pure pleasure. From the moment I first got in touch, he was responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful. He stopped by for an inspection of our garage and had a whole box of samples we could look at and feel. We were indecisive on which one but after describing to him the look we were going for, he suggested a sample he was installing in a different garage that week. He nailed it -- it was exactly what we wanted. He also checked out a tricky drainage channel in our garage and gave us options for how he could epoxy around it and still make it functional. Gidon said he would email us a quote and it arrived within a day. Even when we ultimately had to delay the epoxy installation because our other contractor was delayed on other work on our home, it was no problem. Gidon regularly checked in with me once a week, and a month later when we were finally ready for him, he was ready for us. Gidon and his assistant took great care in the installation itself. He first grinds down the concrete to create a better surface for the epoxy to adhere to. The concrete in our 100 year old home needed lots of patching and re-grinding and he deftly handled it all in a timely fashion. In applying the epoxy he ended up needing to use more material than he quoted us for, but didn't charge us any extra. The end look is gorgeous compared to what it looked like before. Upgrading the damaged and unsightly garage floor in our new house in Lafayette seemed like a real challenge, until Gidon came out to visit. He discussed and helped us to understand the various options--epoxy versus polished concrete--and helped us to identify an epoxy option that would be hard-wearing but would look more natural and stone-like than the typical garage epoxy look (i.e. the red and blue speckles embedded in gray epoxy). Gidon's bid was very reasonable, we thought: $8 per square foot--a rate that included all the preparatory work and finishing the concrete sills around the edge of the garage. Gidon's execution of the job couldn't have been more professional. He was clear and communicative throughout and always timely. He worked very, very hard to repair and prepare a damaged concrete floor--filling cracks in the concrete, even removing protruding bits of rebar that were concreted into the original floor. He worked three long days to make the floor look great. He even offered, at what seemed like the end of the job, to apply an additional coat of clear epoxy to make sure that the over-sized epoxy flakes that we'd selected were fully covered, producing a very smooth surface. We gratefully accepted, and he didn't charge a cent extra for the return visit that he paid to apply an additional top coat.
