Epic Wings has great flavor, but I got the Epic Fries and they shrunk the portion size waaaay down and wasn't nearly worth the almost $13 I spent for it. I've only been once, so bare that in mind when reading this, but the two and a half stars on this place seems to be earned. I stopped by to pick up some wings on a HOT spring day in Escondido. It had to be about 95 degrees. The A/C at my job sucked, so I was looking forward to getting out of the office for a few minutes to read a magazine, eat wings like a drunken college student and cool off. When I pull up to the front door, it's wide open. My first instinct is, "What a-hole left this open to let all the A/C out?" I walk through the door and realize that the a-hole is actually someone that works there cause the A/C isn't on. The building was almost as hot as the sauna I sat in after my workout that morning. Fine. I'll take my wings back to the hot office and deal with it. When I order, they ask me my name. I tell them "Patrick." The guy says, "Ok, thanks Pat." This might just be some weird button or pet-peeve I have, but did you not just hear me say Patrick? I didn't say Pat. I hate being called that, so I nicely asked, "I don't like being called that. Could you put it in as Patrick, please?" He responds that he will and I go sit at a table to bake and wait for my food. I'm sitting, sweating and waiting. It took about 14 minutes. I was painfully aware of this time because I'm sitting and sweating. I would have gone outside, but that wouldn't have really done any good. When the food comes up, the lady calls out "Pat?" and I don't answer. Not because I'm a dick, but because no one calls me that because it's NOT MY FREAKING NAME! For chicken wings this place rocks. I see some negative comments. They are based on time it takes to get the order. This place is so popular that it does have many orders. that is why you have to call in your order in advance and it's ready in about 15 minutes. The flavor of the chicken wings is always great. Their ranch dressing is top notch. We always get the party pack. And, we are just two people and eat it for a few days. We always get the wings dry with hot sauce on the side because it keeps better when you order the party pack. Wings and things is by far superior to places like Hooters Buffalo wild wings and other trendy places. I'm not really a fan. This was my first visit and my experience was that the location lacked any kind of atmosphere at all. I agree with others that it's not super clean. We ordered our food to go. They were out of the boneless chicken "wings" which is what I eat because chicken on the bone grosses me out., but they did have chicken strips, so I got that. It took quite some time for the food to be ready, but I have to admit it was tasty. We ordered the HOT spice and it was really tasty, although by the time we got home, the chicken wasn't crispy after soaking in the sauce. The mozzarella sticks were okay, but not great.. Here's what I don't understand; this place is called Wings N Things, so you'd think that there would be some options for buying wings, but it's like you can order this meal, this meal or this meal. That's it. For a place catering to Wings, you'd think you could order them singularly. What if I just want 12 wings and no bread sticks? It's just weird. I am just disappointed in this establishment. My husband LOVES wings and things- I unfortunately can't see past the mishaps in orders and the crazy wait times even after we call in our orders. I kid you not a few months ago we waited 35 minutes after having arrived at the pickup time for our order. I have to talk my husband out of not eating here because it always something! As of late, I've been really craving for chicken wings. I went to Buffalo Wild Wings when I was on vacation last month and they are divine. I also like eating at Hooters with their naked wings only though. Since I was by myself, I decided to go back to Wings 'N Things to grab a quick lunch. I got the 10 wing combo which for some reason seemed more expensive than before. It's about $8.99 for a 10 wing combo which includes the 10 wings, celery and carrots, two breadsticks, and a drink. I usually get medium and it wasn't too bad. I can't say they were great wings but it did hold me off until I go with a party to Hooters to grab some buffalo wings. I'll definitely be back once I need that wing fix. read more

UPDATE 2: This place continues to go downhill. I used to put up with the dirty location and poor service because the wings were good. However, nowadays about 75% of the time the food isn't even cooked right. The skin on the wings is chewy and flappy. Wings are served cold and undercooked. Ruins my appetite biting into what feels like a raw wing with sauce on it. Hopefully the new location set to open in Escondido isn't plagued with management that clearly doesn't give a shit. I used to live in Temecula, there were two wings n things locations nearby and both were clean, and had excellent fresh food. However, after moving to Escondido and trying this location, it's been nothing but a disappointment. The place is small, old, and dirty. The food is often slow to come out and the wings are often cold, like so cold they could've been in a fridge. This location gives the entire franchise a bad name. They really need to renovate and update the standards here, these have the potential to be the best wings in town, but not in its current state. UPDATE: changing to 1-star because on a Sunday night when they weren't even busy they were leaving the phone off the hook to make it busy. I'm not sure how I feel about this place. The food is really tasty and the wings can be seasoned just right. However, some of the times that I have visited in the past, the food doesn't come across as prepared appropriately and the service can be hit or miss. One time I ordered the combo and I asked for the order to be made my way, but when I got back to my place I noticed there were several things missing and I was too far to go back, yet disappointed that the order was wrong. Parking is horrible at this location. Wings n things is the only place in this strip mall that has no designated parking. Even the little barber shop has designated parking. I paid for my order only to be told after the fact that it would be 20 minutes before my food would be ready. 20 minutes?! Please tell your customer before they pay that the wait time is longer than the time it'll take to consume the meal. Additionally why is it going to take 20 minutes? There are literally two customers in the place besides me. Seating is atrocious with some scattered tables here and there. The appearance of this place is one that I compare to an apartment that you paid $200 a month for. Tiles missing all over the place where you can see what I can only hope to be dirt colored paint and not black mold, cabinets that are falling apart and floors that do not look like they've been cleaned in a few days. The paint is falling off of the walls, which have a few oddly placed sports photos on them. Additionally, on their front counter, they have boxes stacked in top of each other, and a garbage bag draped over something. Also they have two fryer baskets just hanging out...definitely not a professional appearance. My table that I sat at to wait for 20 minutes was sticky. After being in here I feel like I need to take a bath in disinfectant. Department of Health should really check this place out. It is truly unfortunate because I love wings n things and haven't had them in over a year, yet this place has single handedly ruined wings n things for me. I am still sitting here waiting for my food writing this review in hopes that it doesn't in fact take 20 minutes for my wings. The main complaint I have is the chicken meat on the strips which was nasty, stringy where they used to be nice white meat chicken. The sauce, medium was good, spicy. The carrots and celery were the usual, the bread was definitely not as good as years back with previous owners. Took very long for them to make my order. Overall quality of the food wasn't that good. I ordered one of their spicier sauces and it made finishing the chicken impossible as it was all heat with very little flavor. I also ordered their epic chicken fries. Which was really so large it should have been an entire meal to itself - I don't know why they don't lower the price and reduce the size. It ended up being so large I had to take it home. The rolls that came with the meal were so hot that I burnt my mouth. Aside from the temperature issue, the rolls weren't that good and kind of a waste of a side.
