We saved up for years to replace our front door and a few patio doors. I worked with Zach Phillips at epic and he was amazing to work with to get it all figured out.
After spending over $10,000 on our front door alone, here we are a year and a half later and it still doesn't work right. We had to go with Andersen Door for the size, which are supposedly the nicest doors with the best warranty.
The stationary door would not stay stationary. The handle would stay active and so if somebody tried to use the stationary door, both doors would pop open. It was never secure and our front doors were wide open for two days while we were out of town because of the wind, even though they were locked.
They sent multiple technicians out but they could never fix it. They finally sent their installers out again and the only thing they could come up with was screwing in a tiny piece of metal so when the door was closed, the inactive handle wouldn't move.
The installers were very clear with me that this was by no means of permanent fix and would probably not hold up very long.
Matt Poston, the operations manager for Epic Windows & Doors came out and completely agreed that the door was not working correctly. He gave me hope and said they would replace all of the guts of the door to try to get everything working properly.
He then sent me the email in the picture basically saying there was nothing they could do. So now here we are with this beautiful front door that is not secure at all and the stationary door handle wiggles loose about once a day and becomes active.
I am at a loss of what to do now as they are not responding to my emails telling them that it either needs to be fixed or replaced because this is unacceptable. They seemed to be a reputable professional company but after everything I have dealt with I would strongly recommend going with a different company. read more
