This is our all-time favorite restaurant in the United States. We love good food and like to try high-end restaurants wherever we visit. We found this place when we lived here a few years ago and have made it a point to squeeze it in our schedule every time we return to the area. The service is phenomenal. The chef is very good at his craft, but he is also a master at food service. The wait staff monitor the table closely and ensure that the entire experience is well-orchestrated for flawless service. The food is amazing. The menu rotates often, so we have never had the same meal twice. The chef puts together bold flavor combinations and executes it well every. Single. Time. We have never been disappointed with a meal or with the service we have had. Epic is a little pricey, especially when compared to the local area. However, given the quality of the food, the service and the atmosphere, the prices are completely fair and worth every penny. My first trip to EPIC was definitely not my last! We were treated to dinner here with friends who go often. From our greeting at the hostess stand and impeccable table service, to the lively and animated conversation with Chef Jamie, the experience was wonderful. We ordered from a prix fixe menu and there was something to each of us between the 3-course and 5-course menus. My husband had lamb for the first time and since he's a fairly picky eater I was concerned that he might not enjoy it. But by the end of the evening he had pronounced it one of the best meals he'd ever eaten. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. OMG...My husband and I celebrated our 37th year anniversary last night. He called and made a reservation for 5:30 on same day, recommended by our neighbor. From the moment we arrived we felt great being there, the staff made us feel welcomed. We ordered the 3 course meal each, my hubby got the filet mignon and I got the Mahi Mahi both very delicious. I have never had the most tasting grits with shrimp and spinach. To top it all he had the cheese cake dessert and I the pumpkin creme brûlée. The only way to describe it was " umm...heavenly delicious "! If we can say "Best restaurant experience and Best tasting food ever"! Great staff, never had to wait a moment as we always had someone coming over to check up on us, filling our glasses, clean plates, and bringing clean silverware for next course. Very well staffed. Dear Lord, Thank you for the earth, the trees, the flowers, the bees and EPIC! Words cannot even describe everything that went on at our table this evening. My fantastic husband and two amazing children surprised me on a weekend Mother's Day get away and this was our 2nd stop. Everything was pure perfection. So much I even teared up at lease twice while everything was melting in my mouth. Everything from the cocktails, to the salads, to the main entrees, to the desserts were excellent. This was one of the best restaurants that I have ever went to in my entire life. And I'm from NY and now live in Atlanta, so you know my restaurant standards are pretty high. Not only was the melt in your mouth taste so delicious, but the plates were pure artistry. And to balance it all off the staff was incredible. Hands down one of the best restaurants in Georgia. My bestfriend and I visited Epic this past weekend to celebrate a work promotion. It was a great experience, the service was probably the best service I have received in the states. The food was great. We started with the Crab Cake which was wonderful. We also did the cheese tray selection 2, wasn't a fan of all 3 cheeses but the one Dragon was really good. My bestfriend ordered the Amberjack fish for her entree, the fish was very fresh and well season. I ordered the Veal Chop, the chop was delicious but I feel it lacked seasoning. I cant forget while we waited they brought around a Chef sample of octopus on a tiny spoon, just a bite. WHOA! the best bite of the night, the flavors were out of this world. We also had dessert ( dessert flight and fried peach pie) none of the desserts were overly sweet. My favorite was the mousse and she really liked the key lime pie. My fiancée took me to Epic for our first anniversary - the entire experience was absolutely phenomenal! The restaurant is very aptly named "Epic" - the dishes were creative and innovative and most importantly they were absolutely delicious. Mocktails that are a perfect flavor combination are available for those who do not want a drink - the staff is very polite, respectful and professional and the lay-out gives you the feeling of privacy even in the middle of the restaurant because the tables are not crowded close together and the restaurant is very visibly clean from ceiling to floor with chic yet romantic decor. The meal, as rumored, is a bit costly but it's more than worth it to go at least once - it's not just a meal that is being paid for, but an entire dining experience where the focus is on you as the guest. You will not find yourself waiting at any point for any service be it another drink or just a question - the staff seemed to be so highly trained that they are able to anticipate your needs as they arise and they work so well as a team that it would almost seem they are choreographed. After our meal we were given a tour of the kitchen where the restaurant also hosts a chef's table that can be reserved for dinner - and eating at the restaurant I'm not sure if reservations are required but I very much recommend calling ahead to schedule one in that it is not a casual dining experience. The entire experience of Epic goes beyond the culinary masterpieces that are served, the Wagyu beef was incredible my fiancée greatly enjoyed the tartare, but the entire meal from appetizer to salad to entree and the extra yummy mocktails was above and beyond any other restaurant I've ever eaten at. Everyone should experience Epic at least once because it is truly so much more than a meal, it as an entire wonderful experience unto itself and I know my fiancée and I will be returning. read more

I should preface this with I don't like writing bad reviews and we really wanted to find our date night place but our experience at Epic was quite the opposite of it's namesake. +1 The hostess was incredibly friendly on the phone when I made the reservation and when we arrived. We arrived 15+ minutes early for our reservation at 6:30 and she explained that she didn't want to overwhelm the server which is totally understandable. +1 The bartender was also incredibly friendly while we waited for our table, as well as he came and checked on our table a couple times. They have a great craft beer selection, which for us "beer geeks" was a pleasant surprise. We sat down at our table at about 6:20pm (we would have happily waited until 6:30 if need be). The server started off very friendly and obviously very knowledgeable about the menu, the chef's concept, and made some great recommendations. I did feel like his demeanor changed slightly once we told him we wanted to do the Pre Fixe menu however we did add a cheese plate to start with. We ordered the cheese plate no later than 6:25 - it did not come out until 7:40 with no explanation or even having our server stop by to apologize for the wait. I understand sometimes artisan food takes time but a cheese plate? Cut cheese, place on plate. The cheese was fantastic but gone too soon as we waited another 30 minutes for our first course, which were absolutely amazing soups. When the soup was dropped we ordered a half bottle of La Crema to pair with dinner which came out pretty quickly. Shortly thereafter our main course came out, he ordered the cioppino and I ordered the chimichurri steak. The fish in his dish was overcooked, as well as I had requested my meat rare and it was medium (not even medium rare) and unfortunately had a lot of gristle. I understand you can't see the inside of the meat to see the gristle but I'd presume at a restaurant of this caliber you'd know the meat was overcooked (I also completely understand mistakes happen). After the food was dropped we would have remedied the situation (as much as I hate sending food back) however our server never came back to check on us and we were starving at this point. Why I am upset at the level of service is that the two tables closest to us were getting checked on constantly and yet we felt ignored. I have worked in the hospitality industry and completely understand being slammed but instead we felt like we were treated as "second class" citizens next to the other tables. I feel I should note we were dressed to the nines as once a month we dress up and splurge on a date night to take some time for each other in our busy lives. When our main entree plates were taken away we asked for the check with dessert as we'd been at the restaurant for going on 2.5 hours and our server seemed taken aback by this request. The desserts were incredible but at this point we had been at Epic for nearly 3 hours and just wanted to get home. I do want to note our water glasses were never empty, the woman refilling was on it, thank you! I'm lucky enough to have grown up in the Bay Area in California and I've been to some incredible restaurants and know generally what to expect and I am very understanding as long as there is communication to what is going on. I want to tell myself maybe I went to Epic with too high of expectations but it was recommended to me by a good friend who has been raving about it and feel maybe we sadly just had an off experience but returned home feeling "buyers remorse" for lack of a better term. Tried this place out on Valentine's Day. My date and I both did the 7-course meal special offered by Epic on the holiday. We had an 8:45 reservation, but didn't get seated until 9:15. They was plenty of space at the bar though and they had a great drink menu. Now for the food. Throughout the 7-course meal, we were really only impressed by 2 or 3 dishes. It just seemed like everything was a little under seasoned. They also skipped a course and had to bring it out later after we already had our pallet cleanser. The atmosphere was awesome and the service was pretty exceptional - minus the skipping a course snafu - but it was very understandable due to a busy night on Valentine's Day. It's just difficult to give 4 or 5 stars for the experience we had, especially since our bill was over $300 for the two of us. We expected to be blown away. It is hard to find bad reviews about Epic by other people though, so hopefully we get a chance to try it again and able to leave a better review. read more

ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME? How in the HECK did a restaurant like this land in Columbus, GA??? Gone are the trips to Atlanta for fancy dining! I'm trying not to use the Lord's name in vain in this review but JEEEESSSUUUSS!!! 1 - The Mr. is a steak connoisseur. We decided that we'd do date night in Columbus (where we can drop the kiddo off with Gramma) for a full day of movie, dinner, then another movie. He told me to figure out where we're going. I reviewed Yelp and chose this because of the few but high star rating. It's relatively new but the reviews were great. 2 - We arrived for our early reservation. The host was friendly and EVERY SINGLE person we encountered had a smile, was excited, and provided the best customer service. Awesome decor and ambiance. You wouldn't know what city you were in. 3 - Drinks - Gone with the Wind had bourbon in it - smooth but not my type of drink (the waiter did warn me it was a guy's drink and that he liked it). Hubby ordered The Secret Life of Bees, and said it was a girl's drink. It did come out in a martini glass and was delicious. Needless to say, we switched. :) The chef also sent out a complimentary small app of some salmon and walnut concoction. Yum. 4 - Apps - I had the scrumptious crab cakes and hubby had the watermelon salad. I loved my dish, even the vinegar-y mini salad on the side. Crab cake was all crab, less filling and the sauces were yummo. Only one small cake came out - about the size of a slider burger. Could've had 2 on there to really please me... lol. 5 - We both ordered the Aged Sirloin (12oz) with fingerling potatoes, spinach & wild mushroom with an extra side of truffle mac & cheese. We took a bite and dang near passed out in our seats. My husband did so much of the eye rolling passion-face that it was crazy. Remember the scene from Ratatouille where the inspector takes a bite of the ratatouille and is transported back in time to when his mother cooked him the same dish? We were definitely transported. We had so much 'mmm'ing and 'yumm'ing that it was corny. lol... 5a - Sirloin was perfection and the hubby said he's been to the best steakhouses in Vegas, New York, Texas, and all the other places in between and this was by far the best steak EVER. And as I said above, he is a steak connoisseur. I loved the steak, the fingerling potatoes were lightly and perfectly seasoned and so tasty, and that truffled mac & cheese was slap yo' momma good! 5b - We ordered the special for dessert: a peanut butter and chocolate concoction and it was SO good. I'm always afraid peanut butter desserts will taste overly peanut buttery but this was so perfect! A pyramid shelled chocolate dessert filled with a light, creamy peanut butter filling on top of a chocolate, almost brownie like base. Sigh... 6 - Let me tell you, the employees were excited about this new place and raved about everything to include the future expansion of the restaurant over the Chattahoochee! They offered us a tour of the kitchen and new area that was being renovated! We walked back to the kitchen and met Chef Keating and his team. He is passionate, lively, excited, and awesomely talented. I have a good radar for people and he is definitely a chef that Columbus is lucky to have. He is a vibrant personality! Thank you Chef Keating! His team is young, awesome, excited, and go-getters. They treated us to an instant ice-cream pop while showing us their areas. The new area is awesome and the deck over the Chattahoochee will set this place above and beyond anything in the area. 7 - Overall, beats out any restaurant I've been to because of the service and food (equally), the ambiance and concept of the restaurant, and because of all the extras. I will recommend this restaurant over and over and over to friends in and out of the town. I will recommend they skip Atlanta sometimes and come visit Epic. Sorry this is so long but I really wanted to convey the perfection for those Yelp reviewers, like myself, that scour reviews trying to find the perfect experience. Columbus has a gem and I want all who read this to know that. Final note: The place is pricey. My husband said, you know a good restaurant when you hand over your card to pay without looking at the receipt. You don't care because you received something that was top level. When we did look at the receipt, it was under $200 with tip. Look, this is the best restaurant you could take someone you love to and it is worth EVERY BIT OF THAT PRICE! So my adventure begins on a random Thursday night. Almost done with my four month assignment to Fort Benning, I decided to go out and treat myself. I located on Yelp fine dining in Columbus, GA. Only one restaurant appears, Epic. So I stroll in at opening time and ask for a table on one. This is by far the best meal I have eaten in 2013, sadly alone. The dining room is fantastic, a blend of the old history of the building with exposed brick with a new modern decor of bamboo and eclectic pieces. After ordering a drink at the beautiful bar I was shown to my table. There I met Jay, a gracious host and waiter. To start I ordered the lobster potstickers, it was amazing. The sauce was luscious. I wanted bread to mop up what was left behind. For my second I ordered the pan seared foie gras with pomegranate, chia seeds and white chocolate hollandaise. I should have ordered three more of this dish, I LOVE foie gras. I know the controversy behind admitting my love to something PETA abhors. For my main I order wagyu flat iron with french bean-potato salad, sriracha hollandaise & mushroom dust, medium rare. WOW! I was little concerned about the sriracha; what a great blend of flavors. I have never been a dessert person however Jay talked in me into the pumpkin crème brulee, and so glad he did. The presentation was so awesome, served in two mini pumpkins. Jay then game me a tour of the kitchen, as a foodie this was dream come true. Clean, efficient and friendly. They have a kitchen table you may reserve that seats up to eight! I would love to do that on a future visit. The pastry chef even made me a popsicle on the anti-griddle, I think at this point I have died and gone to food heaven. Oh, Epic Restaurant, I dream of you almost instantly when I leave your doors. I am from Massachusetts, one of the country's bastions of snobbery and I would say that this restaurant not only fit in but prosper and have a long life...but who would want to pay those kind of taxes anyway?! But, I digress. On to the juicy stuff. I have been here with my male half twice now for two very memorable meals in 2014. Our first was for Valentine's Day (we went the day after, but they were still doing V-Day things since V-Day was on a Friday), and the second meal was on March 15, 2014, in which I treated him for an unprecedented job promotion. Some things about EPIC: 1. Don't come here broke. This isn't McDonald's, and this isn't Country's BBQ. This is a culinary experience. So, don't be surprised when you see the prices. 2. Wear nice clothing. The waiters and waitresses are dressed nicely and you should be matching the environment. Read the doors before you enter the building. It's business casual or above. 3. The culinary team has been educated in culinary schools such as Culinary Institute of America, Le Cordon Bleu, and New England Culinary Institute. If something is not right with your meal, please be cordial to your server team and they will take care of it. 4. Be aware that there is a prix fixe menu time that you can take advantage of to not pay full price for the meal but come out being fed like a king and that includes appetizer, main course, and dessert for only $35 base price (of course if you want to add drinks and some sides it will start getting bigger, but holy moly there are some good items on that prix fixe menu). They offer the prix fixe menu only from Tuesday-Thursday 5:30-6:30pm and Friday-Saturday 5:00-6:00pm. Anyway, my experiences at EPIC have been absolutely amazing. They are professional in every way from cradle to grave. From the email interactions with Ms. Melissa Keating when asking for special requests (that they will do their best to accommodate) to the seating at the table and everything thereafter. I must mention that I think that it is wonderful that Chef Keating pays tribute to local Georgia products in the bread offerings with the EPIC butters which accompany the different breads. The olive tapenades and butters come from Georgia, which I think is very cool. We are a fan of the prix fixe menu because it offers a bigger bang for your buck and offers a great sampling of their bigger menu. They do not skimp on the portion sizes and we always make sure to order the truffle mac and cheese side to share. The pictures I have posted on Yelp of the meals I have had at EPIC are off of the prix fixe menu. There is nothing small about those portions! Looks at how amazing that meat looks, that artichoke bisque, that dessert, even the coffee presentation...I'm drooling just thinking about it. You know you're at a great place when they even make a big deal out of the coffee service. It's $5 for hot coffee, but it is French press and it is free refills and it is high quality coffee and you have a full array of sugars presented to you beautifully. Would you like a demitasse rock candy swizzle sugar stick, brown sugar cube, splenda, sweet and low, etc with your cream? That's what I am talking about! On the second visit to celebrate the big promotion, we were surprised by the arrangement the Keatings made for us to visit the kitchen at the end of the meal. I had been emailing Melissa extensively since before Valentine's Day and I had no idea that they had arranged that. It was so thoughtful of them and it made that meal even more special. We got to meet the people who made the meal, got to meet Chef Keating. Next on our list for EPIC...Chef's Table. Definitely on our list for this summer! We tried to come here for dinner without a reservation, and to my surprise the hostess told us that there were no tables available for the next 45 minutes. How was that even possible? The parking lot was fairly empty. And, my buddy looked around the corner to find a row of tables empty. If reservations are required, Epic should make it known. Words cannot convey how impressed I was with this place, but I'll give it a try. I've been wanting to try out Epic as soon as I got to Columbus, but waited until a special occasion to try it out, as it's not something that I could really afford to do everyday (or every week/month for that matter). I was a bit afraid that it wouldn't live up to all of the hype as I had already scanned through reviews and had prefaced my visit with studying the menu to see what choices to make. My husband and I came on a weekday evening and chose from the fixed price menu so that we could get a feel for the food (and get to try a good sampling of dishes). I got the shrimp and grits, short rib, and turtle cheesecake, while my dining partner got the squash bisque, pork shank, and chocolate torte. We specifically ordered separate dishes purely because we wanted to be able to sample as much of the menu as possible (heh). Everything looked so appetizing. Our server, Jay, was very accommodating, offering to pair wines with our dinner and answering any questions that we might have while ordering. Before each course, the appropriate silverware was placed before us, and a complimentary amuse-bouche as well as a bread platter with a variety of spreads was presented before the meal began. When we received our main courses, we both commented on how we didn't even need the steak knives we were presented with - the meat was so tender that as soon as we touched it, it fell apart onto our forks. I sampled the succotash that came with the pork shank - it was amazingly spicy and creamy and complimented the dish perfectly. After we finished our meal, Jay offered to take us through a brief kitchen tour with this being our first visit to Epic and we excitedly agreed. During the tour, he told us about the Chef's Table which we would definitely be considering in the future based on our first visit here. He also showed us the "anti-griddle" which they use in place of liquid nitrogen to cool ingredients. He demoed the device with creme anglaise and strawberry coulis, making an ice cream-like lollipop for us to try. The service we received (as well as the food) was beyond our expectations and I would definitely recommend this venue as THE place to go if you're celebrating a special occasion and want to be treated like royalty. It is also important to note that it is practically impossible to feel overdressed at this place, so dress up to the nines and enjoy! read more

So I happened to visit EPIC again during a recent trip to Columbus and I had such a fantastic experience. I met the owner who doubles as the chef and he was fantastic. He offered to give us a tour of the kitchen and prepared special treats for my friend and I to try. Now what I loved is that he said while they have a range of food on their menu, the best items are staples (hamburger, chicken, etc) and recommended that I actually try the sliders. They were DIVINE, almost magical! These sliders were hands down some of the best sliders I've ever tasted. They had carmelized onions and smoked gouda. OMGGEEEE!!! Soooo good! Needless to say, I'm excited to return to EPIC in the near future and experience the Chef's Table where you get to eat in the kitchen and try a 8 or 9 course meal. read more

This was my second visit to Epic and definitely the best! I made a reservation for 6 for the Pre Fixe (Pre-Fee) menu which requires an early reservation. It was my husbands birthday and I had family in town from CA. The Pre Fixe menu is $35 a person and includes a 3 course meal (starter, entree, dessert). We were sat in the back of the restaurant in a plush booth that fit us all comfortably. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance makes you feel like you are in NYC. The staff, from the hostess to the table busser were professional, polite, knowledgeable and warm. With a restaurant as upscale as this you may be concerned with running into "snobby" wait staff but I didn't experience that at all. Our meal started out with cocktails from the bar. We all ordered The Secret Garden as suggested and it was insane. It is a vodka based cocktail with an in house made lavender/honey simple syrup, topped off with prosecco and garnished with rosemary. I was told the bartender created this drink himself! I could run that drink through an IV for the rest of my life. We were then treated by the kitchen to an amuse bouche of grilled eggplant with pine nuts. We all picked our starters from the Pre Fixe menu, followed by bread with various gourmet butters and spreads. We all ended up ordering the same entree, a petite filet mignon with a raised short rib on a bed of spinach and grilled onions. It was amazing. My husband is a huge steak/beef fan and was in heaven. The portions were very generous. We all had a glass of wine to accompany our meal. They have an extensive wine list. Something for everyone's budget and taste. I ordered an Pinot Noir from CA from the Wines on Tap menu and it was perfect. We were then treated to dessert. The crème brûlée was so good and was paired the best whip cream I have ever had and fresh berries! It was as big as my face. The coffee is just as good and is served in a french press. After we finished dessert we were offered a tour of the kitchen. It was so interested and awesome to be given that opportunity. A man ( I am assuming was the dessert chef) made us sweet cream ice cream lollipops with a raspberry sauce on the reverse griddle (a griddle like device that's top is freezing) right in front of us. A really cool experience. The food, cocktails, wine and amazing staff made us all feel like VIP. I highly recommend you give Epic a try. It is definitely a place to treat yourself to every once in awhile. If you are skeptical or may be scared of the price tag on a meal here I highly suggest you give the Pre Fixe menu a try. I recently relocated from Washington DC, a city with fantastic restaurants. By far, Epic is better than any of those big city restaurants. My wife and I had a pre-Valentine's Day Dinner, and it was unbelievable. From the start, the atmosphere in the restaurant is incredible. The owners put so much attention to detail and love into every decoration, place setting, and the food presentation. Moreover, their staff is extremely professional and they are always present to serve you or answer your questions. Most importantly, the food taste amazing. From the bread starter, to the lobster bisque, and the perfectly cooked Salmon and Short Rib, there is clearly no match in the area. The food was beyond anything I've ever experienced, the service was delightful and the ambiance was fabulous. The mixed drink was tasty, light and refreshing. Every item placed on the table was exquisite in taste and presentation. We had reservations at 5:30 on a Friday and enjoyed the fixed price menu. The options were plentiful and it was difficult to decide amongst all the great choices. I went with my husband and adult son to celebrate my birthday, and the staff made the event a true celebration. Our server Matt and everyone we encountered during the meal and kitchen tour was welcoming and friendly. I've dined at fine restaurants throughout the United States, and Epic out shined them all. I recently had the privilege of experiencing the Chef's Table at Epic, and I am still blown away by it. Jamie and his team took such incredible care of us. The service was impeccable and the food was unlike anything I've ever eaten and will likely eat for a very long time. The care that is taken to take this restaurant's food and experience to the next level is apparent. It's pricey, but absolutely worth it. I definitely recommend trying Epic (and the Chef's Table if you can swing it) the next time you have a milestone birthday, anniversary, or any other excuse you can use to go. read more

Fantastic experience! The bar and Ryan the bartender/ mixologist are the best kept secret in Columbus. The drinks and appetizers are unbelievably good and well priced for the high quality you get. We stopped in for a quick drink and app on a Friday night at the bar. Instead we got a two and a half hour journey that none of us will soon forget. From the expertly crafted cocktails, to the delicious appetizers, then to the complimentary starters and dessert, then the personal tour of the kitchen and finally letting us experience their private patio overlooking the waterfall every step showed the entire staffs' pride and passion in giving you the best culinary experience of your life. Great food, but don't go here with a party larger than 8. The seating for bigger parties is awkward, and you'll spend several hours there. The food was definitely the best in Columbus: Try the Dry Aged Steak, all of the salads on the appetizer menu were worth a try (watermelon, crab and avocado, fried green tomato, heirloom), the truffle mac and cheese was amazing, the spinach and black truffle was also really good. Husband and I visited on New Years. We are accustomed to nicer restaurants in Atlanta having just moved from there (Bacchanalia, Optimist, Aria, Bones, etc.) and were looking for an opportunity to try out Epic. We did the 8-course New Years Eve special ($125 per person). The food was delicious, but some of the portions were too large. For an 8-course meal, it was too much food and made it hard to enjoy various courses. Below are thoughts on the dishes: The first course was a Salmon/Eel "Preface" which we literally licked from the plate. Very creative. The second course was a Scallops dish with pancetta, mashed potatoes, and a salad which was a pretty hearty appetizer, but delicious. This was probably one of my favorite dishes. Third course was a Ricotta and Buretta Pasta, which kind of tasted like a good home-made bowl of pasta. Well portioned, but pasta is very filling so I may suggest leaving this out of an 8-course meal or incorporating into one of the heavier entrees. This was followed with bread + olive oil (more filling). Fourth dish was a Red Grouper + Crab which was cooked well, but was a large plate. Portions were a little too big with this but it was delicious. Fifth Course: Oddly enough, this may have been one of my favorite dishes. It was a sour apple sorbet with pop-rocks on the top. The sour apple sorbet was amazing, and the pop-rocks were a nice "travel-back-in-time" touch. Sixth Course: I had the filleted beef with foie gras. The meat was cooked perfectly, but it was a huge cut of meat. I had to pass off about half of it to my husband (who ordered the lamb and felt his portions were fairly large too). Because I was so full by the time they brought out this plate, I really didn't enjoy the rest of the side items of the dish, which included celery root, winter greens, espresso onions, and truffle croquettes. Seventh Course: The cheese plate was okay. I am not a huge goat-cheese fan, and the crackers that were given with the cheese were nothing special. The jams were delicious though, and I enjoyed the Brie. This was my least favorite course. Eighth Course: The banana bread was dry, albeit yummy. They covered them with bruleed bananas and a chocolate ganache, but after being so incredibly full and noticing the bread was dry, we kind of picked at it versus enjoying it. The Sommelier (our waiter) was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable of his wines. We were impressed with the bottle he brought out for us and enjoyed it thoroughly. The only bummer about this night was how expensive the alcohol was. I'm not sure if alcohol was marked up due to New Years Eve, or alcohol is generally expensive at Epic, but our bill was over $500.00 total (food + beverage) which seemed absurd, seeing as we have dined at similar restaurants for 6-10 course meals, each gotten more alcohol, and paid less than the $500.00 we spent at Epic. I guess the Sommelier played us for fools with an expensive bottle of wine, which kind of stinks. Two glasses of champagne cost us over $50. I'm not sure I would be back. The bill kind of put a bad taste in our mouths, but in general the food was good and it is definitely a fine-dining restaurant in a town that is slowly emerging as a foodie scene. read more

I was visiting from the west coast and was not expecting to have a gourmet meal in Columbus GA, but I was beyond surprised. This place is amazing!!! There was not one thing I would change about our meal from the service to the food. The service was phenomenal, each member of the wait staff was knowledgable and their recommendations were spot on. The food was ridiculously tasty and the pairings along side the main dish were perfect. It was a welcomed experience and if I come back to visit again we will definitely come again. Where do I begin......this place is nothing short of amazing! First off, impeccable service! Never had such great service and I've eaten from Georgia to California! Food was delightful, plentiful and tasteful! We had the shrimp pot stickers, tempura oysters, clam chowder, crab topped salmon, poached lobster & pancetta wrapped pork tenderloin, carrot cake and cinnamon roll bread pudding!
