The staff cannot tell when customers have had too much to drink and when they are just warming up. I had defecated in the trash can by the upstairs bathrooms and was asked to leave. After all I had only consumed a measly 10 tequila drinks and 12 beers! I thought this was a bar??? Most of the girls here are bar rats but a few diamonds in the rough will appear on occasion. My step son (7) was knocked to the ground by 2 college aged guys who were involved in a shoving match. After being kicked out me and my step son snuck back in at 2AM and bummed cigs from the outside table area on the first floor until security recognized me and physically escorted me off the premises. They overcharge and don't know how to properly give back your change. I give the bartender $20 for a $7 drink and she tried to give back $3 in change. I told her I gave you $20 not $10. She commented something under her breath and gave me the proper amount back. I usually tip but not for bad customer service. read more

Racist!!! My bf and I visited this spot because he'd visited before. The only difference is he was with some white people. He is very light skinned with hazel eyes. Myself...dark skin, brown eyes. The first guy let me pass. But this is where the racist white guy steps in saying we can't get in because my bf had on a plain white tshirt not a tank but full tshirt. There were plenty white guys there with tshirts on. And get this, we even saw one with a plain white tshirt. There was no dress code posted anywhere and no one in the place was dressed in any type of upscale fashion beside the girls who wore dresses. The guys all looked like they were going to Walmart. Went out one night and after two or three sips of my first drink at this bar, my knees buckled, I couldn't operate my phone, and could barely walk. This might be one of the only reviews I have written that I can't decide if it is 5 stars or 2 stars. It is a true conundrum. To really show my age, this was a brand new bar when I was starting college. It was an instant hit when it opened and was the top spot for us to go late night after parties. Weekend nights it is usually pretty hard to navigate in the front part of the bar. It is basically an indoor tiered deck with two wrap around bars and a small stage. The back is much bigger. But usually has a band going and is hard to talk. The reason I say I could give it five stars is because of all the early college memories I had here. Vegas Bomb shots, conversations with friends, great bands and all around fond memories. But I could also give it 2 stars. Toward the end of college, you loathe hanging out in big crowds with underclassmen. And now being a genuine old man, you don't want to be that guy hanging out with the college kids. But somehow, my friends always want to go back. And although we are those people, they should respect the people that ushered this bar in. Overall: typical college bar. Loved it at one time. Trying to avoid now. I will let nostalgia take precedence here and give it 4 stars. read more

Ban on military, I've been to this establishment a few times, I'm out of the military now. Moved here from out of state for a civilian job and had some friends fly in for a work event. They refused us all at the door because my ID had veteran on it. I was met with "I've been telling you guys all night you're not coming in" felt like modern day segregation lol I get that young soldiers are rowdy and when coming from ft. Benning they can get out of control when cut loose for their first few times. But to be banned strictly because you're a veteran? DON'T GO UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR PHONE STOLEN!! Typically, I wouldn't hold an establishment at fault for the doings of bad people but its seems this is an ongoing issue that Skybar is aware of but isn't doing anything about it. My phone was stolen from my purse on Saturday night. I wasn't intoxicated and my purse wasn't unattended at any moment, it was around my torso when someone pulled my purse. The next day I learned that it happens SEVERAL times a weekend at Skybar. In fact, I was at AT&T getting a replacement phone when someone else came in because they also had their phone stolen at Skybar the night before. I've been in contact with the Auburn Police Department and they confirmed this is an ongoing issue that Skybar is aware of. From what I've gathered, it seems Skybar isn't doing anything about it because they're more concerned about their bottom line than making sure their patrons are safe. I think they're relying on the fact that the crowd is mostly young and probably too intoxicated to remember the details of what happened. The most frustrating thing about my incident is that so many others have also been taken advantage of. Skybar should be ashamed for not stepping up and doing their part. I'm not concerned about going back since I'm not from Alabama, but for everyone else, if you go here please be very cautious!!!! read more

$20 cover charge to spend a few minutes wandering around. Wanted to see what all the hype was about. I was wrong. Probably a good time when youre 21, but at 30 this is the antithesis of a good time. You will lose your hearing to shitty music, get drugged or your wallet/phone stolen, be around the most obnoxious people ever, and pay way too much for shitty drinks.. I went once to check it out and another time as the DD. I regret both.. Wish the bouncer would have just told me, "look dude, this place isn't for you - dont waste your money." Now, I'm not from anywhere near the South, so I'm not sure if this is a "normal" bar.....we certainly don't have anything like this in the Bay Area, or in Haifa. First of all the place is HUGE. It's easily over 10,000 square feet, and they pack it. The $5.00 cover isn't really a deterrent, as people just keep flooding in as the night goes on. Drinks aren't too expensive, and there are plenty of bartenders. The front portion of this place was manned by a live country music band. They cover all the most popular country music songs, and the crowd really gets into it. I'm sure it's pretty played out around these parts, but we were pretty excited to hear a rendition of Sweet Home Alabama while actually in Alabama. We were wondering why people kept coming in and out of a door toward the far end of the bar. Was this the bathroom area? Nope. How about a massive dance floor with a full-on rap concert by a band that I swear could rival the black eyed peas. They went on for hours, and the place was going crazy. Worst bar experience I've had in my adult life. If you want to go to an establishment that is run by people with underdeveloped prefrontal cortexes and a love for all things dangerous and un-fun then this is your place. I just am so baffled at how this place is able to throw capacity and fire codes to the wind day after day. Additionally, every bar I've ever been to has bouncers that have an eye for safety and genuine concern, this is not one of those bars. I witnessed employees turn a blind eye to multiple patrons who either couldn't walk or speak at all or were blatantly throwing up in trash cans then served another drink with a smile and a slap on the back. Whoever the owners of this place pay off in the police and fire services is really covering this up nicely because wow. The only positive interaction I had with anyone sporting a neon tshirt was the pizza selling lady. Overall don't waste your time unless you're 17 or 18 years old because that's pretty much the crowd. read more

I finally made it here after the renovations and they have definitely improved! There's a lot of different platforms which may seem weird at first but it works out perfectly. They have made this giant country bar feel more intimate by separating it out in different areas. Their bathrooms have improved, service has improved, and it feels like a fun relaxing brighter country bar to hang out. Always be prepared for a line and for cover. The specials and the bands playing here are unrivaled across all of the bars in Auburn. read more

This is one of the to go places in Auburn. They have two floors the first is where they have karaoke and it could be fun depending on who you go and the choice of music it's mostly country which I don't like. I've gone during the week and weekends. One of the times I went they had bomb ass music in the second floor and had a good time. They staff is a bit rude in the entrance but they have cheap drinks. read more

Skybar is totally great for what it is. Just make sure that's what you're into before you go. It's clearly the most popular bar in town and always has a line wrapped around the block. There are multiple large rooms. One for more of a live band atmosphere and the other for more dance music. Both rooms are generally pretty packed and hard to get around in. The servers were all nice and we had no problem getting drinks. If you are a college age human and looking to mingle, this place is a solid five stars. If that's not your scene, there are several places near by that aren't quite as chaotic. read more

I've been going to SkyBar Cafe for years...first as a student and now as an alumna/adult! The drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is fun. However, unless it's a game weekend, you will not see anyone over the age of 22 or 23. This is THE college bar in town and will always be crawling with students. The drinks are cheap and it can get a bit crowded, so I like to come here after I've already had a few! :) Most nights they have live music. When they don't there will be karaoke so there area always fun times to be had! The front part of the bar does not have a roof, hence the name "SkyBar." Sometimes when it's raining they cover it with tarps, but last time I was there it poured and I got soaked. The back part of the bar is only open on busier nights and will either have a DJ to dance to or a larger cover band! read more

It's nice that it's open air, but it's really not set up that well but I suspect during the year when students are in that it gets packed and full of drunken revelers. With the multiple bars made getting drinks quicker than waiting for a while to get a drink(s) and back to the dance floor. SkyBar has been the drinking hole of choice for as long as I've been a student at Auburn! The owners are extremely sweet and personable, always very respectful and polite. The bartenders have turned into close friends in many cases, and the bouncers are very vigilant and quick to help in any way they can. The drinks are great and can be cheap but there's also top bar options which is good. So many different bars and bartenders to choose from allow patrons to move freely and explore the huge party scene. There are also pool tables, chairs, and tables for those that want a more chill outing. It gets VERY packed during sports game nights (specifically football of course) so be wary of that. Overall my favorite bar I've ever been to, all over the world I've never found something that compares to SkyBar. read more

By far the best bar in Auburn. The variety of things to do and experiences to have makes Skybar a good spot for all types of people. They have drink specials during the week that can't be beat. We went on a Friday and they had a very good country music band playing in the back. The very next night they have a rock band. Both were fantastic and put on a good show. Honestly it's the best place in the area. It's a College bar. It's not supposed to be Posh, it's supposed too be a Dive Bar and this fits the role every time. There are many allegations against this bar but every time I see the security handle a situation they are handling it with urgency and serioUsness. Anything from someone throWIng something across the bar to fighting. Even when females say that a male is being a creep or being a perv ive seen it handled first hand and they do not joke with anything that violates the rules. The bartenders are as nice as can be until you do something wrong. If you act like you should then there are no problems. The atmosphere of the bar during the SEC Championship game was intense. But oh in the best way ever. Unfortunately, the tigers did not win, but my friends and I had a fun time in our first trip there. We were able to meet some fun people who were extremely nice and polite. We definitely took advantage of the game day specials they had on the day, which were some of the best we had ever seen. It was cool to be able to go around Skybar's two stories to watch the games and also dance. If I ever come back to Auburn for game day, this is my first and only spot. read more

Was in town for a football game and we stopped here as it was close to the stadium and seemed like a solid choice. It's got a lot of different spaces/areas to hang out at including on top with a great view especially during the right weather. Very welcoming to us out of town visiting fans, this is a must stop on the way to the game. read more

This place has gotten a lot better since I was in school. The upstairs and balcony really add to the name. Instead of an open roof you can actually go to the roof. Came here recently with some family and friends to watch the Iron Bowl. We originally stopped here the night before the game and didn't get in. It was such a long line and just wasn't worth the wait. Fast forward to the next day, came in to watch the game. It was pretty nice that there was no cover especially with such a big game being broadcasted there. I stayed mainly in the main room where the I think the front entrance is located. I was told there was some food upstairs so I walked up to get some. After my little adventure to get some food I quickly realized that this place was pretty big. On top of that, the food was alright but pretty cheap. Same can be said about the drinks, cheap and pretty basic. All in all an alright place to go to in Auburn. To sum it up, a really huge bar with cheap food and drinks. read more
