    Paint in standing water

The roof looks good, but soooo much gone wrong. First of all, these people seem to think it's ok to show up at any time without an appointment or notice. The salesman stopped by without notice because I hadn't signed the contract. He then followed me into our office and stood over my shoulder and told me what to check and sign without me being able to read it. Was I surprised the next day on what I signed!!!! Coercion is not ok. Mind you the roof was completed the Tuesday after memorial Day and we still don't have a final inspection (6/30). They showed up Today without notice or permission, while we were gone and came onto our property to do some priming of plywood. We first noticed white stuff in some standing water and couldn't figure out what it was. We then figured Out they had come in, painted, over painted, splattered paint and washed paint brushes in our landscape. The whole house will need to be painted. Also, I'm not sure what size nails they use, but the are at least a half inch longer than the plywood, looks like crap! There are holes in our gutter from the pitch fork they used to remove the roof. Their customer service and follow through are very bad at best. Their prices are good, but beware, you get what you pay for.

Back of house following Epic's roof installation and about 1/3 of the installed solar panels (other 2/3 aren't visible on this side).

Meant to write this a couple months ago, but better late than never! We hired the Epic Energy team to replace an old wood-shingle roof on a custom home with very tough angles and steep pitches and then tasked them with getting enough solar power to the home without adding any panels to the front of the roof (an extremely difficult task, but essential in our opinion for aesthetics). Mission Impossible? Not for them. First, we got four price quotes from multiple roofing companies, and all (including Epic) were very close to each other, so it came down to timing and quality. We were immediately impressed with Epic's sales team AND they were the only company that could do both the roof itself and the full solar installation (all others would have required contracting with two different companies). They were also able to get started and stick to a much tighter schedule than any of the other companies that bid. All of this was a huge plus. As for the actual installation? We couldn't be happier! The roof looks amazing (see pictures) and the solar panels were carefully installed and look about as great as panels can (at least they're not on the front of the house!). Epic also made the hookup process very easy and straightforward (in terms of interconnection with PG&E and communication was excellent before, during and after the installation). Probably our only complaint (and it's a very minor one) was that the tear-off of the original roof created a massive mess (somewhat expected) that took us personally a few weeks to completely clean (i.e. we continued to find shingle pieces, nails, wood splinters, sharp cut metal pieces, etc.) in our bushes, grass and yard areas, which can be a real problem with kids and/or dogs running around (or any barefoot adult). However, some of that is to be expected and, again, it's a minor inconvenience compared to how happy with are with Epic's work. Highly recommend them for both roof and solar installations!!!

I wanted to use my previous roofer who did the other half but he went completely dark on me, so I found 5 Star Roofing. Before the job: Michael came out quickly to provide the bid which was competitive and clearly explained the process. He was able to schedule me in quicker than the competition and provided excellent communication before the work started. During the job: His team arrived on time each day, did excellent work, and were even able to match the color of the other half of the roof exactly. Each day, Michael came by to check on the work and answer my questions. Jenn, the office/project manager emailed each day as well. The crew cleaned up after themselves and made minimal disturbance while they worked. Josh even came out the next week to do some additional work we requested. Final results: We could not be happier. The work looks great and seamlessly matches the other half. Alas, on the scheduled day and time, nobody showed up, and nobody contacted me. I called the office, and Jada said my job was not on their calendar. After she gave me multiple excuses for why Brian failed to show up "for my estimate", it was clear that they had scheduled another estimate and not the actual repair work, and then they didn't even show up for that. I would not recommend using this company.

Shortly after completion, we experienced a significant leak near the chimney during a controlled water test. We repeatedly asked for photo/video documentation of the original water testing and requested a controlled retest after additional sealant was applied to the flashing and chimney areas. This was never provided. Because sealant was added after the initial test, it became impossible to determine how the flashing system performed in its original installed condition. Despite our requests for a documented and isolated testing process, the issue was attributed solely to stucco and chase cap conditions without verification of the flashing work included in our contract. Communication became increasingly dismissive when we asked reasonable, technical questions about how the leak source was isolated and verified, and the matter was pushed toward final inspection without the testing we requested. We also had concerns about billing transparency during dry rot repairs. We had to repeatedly request documentation showing where repairs were made, how many hours were spent on new work versus items already included in the original contract, and how labor time was calculated (including delivery and travel time billed at the same rate as on-site repair work). The initial invoices and explanations were vague, and only after multiple follow-ups did we receive partial clarification and a small credit for duplicated labor hours. While the company was responsive in replying to emails, we were left to identify gaps in documentation, testing, and billing ourselves rather than being provided clear, proactive transparency. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend that future customers insist on detailed documentation, clear labor breakdowns, and controlled verification testing when leak diagnosis or change-order billing is involved.

**Above and beyond roofing work -- highly recommend!**…read more Jason Hope, Cris Espinoza, and Tommy did an outstanding job on our roof. They set clear expectations from the start and communicated well throughout the entire project. They worked hard and were completely responsible and accountable. At one point they accidentally broke a skylight, but instead of cutting corners, they went above and beyond to get it repaired properly and made it right. They also cleaned up thoroughly after every single day of work, which we really appreciated. The finished roof looks even better than it did before. I also want to recognize Jose and Adrian. When the inspector required additional work on the roof, Jose took the time to clearly explain the cost differences so we knew exactly what we were paying for and why. I had a lot of questions about the cost breakdown for the sheeting, and it was pretty confusing to me, but Jose was so patient and kept explaining it different ways until it finally clicked. Adrian set us up with our initial consultation and spent over an hour working through pricing with us to get us a great deal. He respected my budget and kept it at the forefront the whole time, which made me feel truly seen and heard. Anytime I had a question or needed help with financing, he was there for me. This whole team was trustworthy, detail-oriented, and easy to work with from the first consultation to the final walkthrough. Highly recommend!!!

I have done a lot of work over the years and am happy to say that if you live in this area, he is your guy. He was fair and honest from the get go. The price he gives you is the price you will pay. I never received any surprise "change orders". As contractors go, Omar was VERY open and communicative. No problems ever getting him or his crew on the phone. He had great suggestions on all things we discussed. Always seemed to know a lot about his work and various things people like. The project was a big one, and I am super happy with how fast it went. He even got started for us over Thanksgiving and Xmas, and his crew would show up on Saturday or Sunday sometimes to keep on working (which was fine with us!). There were no subcontractors involved... everything was through Noor Construction. If we had any minor issues that needed correcting, Omar would come and look at it and tell his crew what to do. We really appreciate the details, crown molding and trim was superbly done, and the tile was just amazing, we are very impressed with his team. I mean seriously anyone who has attempted to do crown molding in the past knows what I am talking about. For details if you've made it this far, our story: Where shall I start. I suppose we start with the idea: build a bedroom in the second floor space of our "great room" which has really tall ceilings... like 30 feet plus. So basically add a bedroom in the second story "empty space" above the first floor. Easy right? Well, after getting ghosted by several contractors, I finally called Omar. He informed he thought we were probably getting ghosted because the architect had told him that footings were needed to support this new bedroom which would be sort of like an island in the middle of the house. We live on a hill, so these support columns would have to go through the first floor, basement, and then under the house. This added to the cost, but we really wanted a bedroom in that space. Omar gave me a price. I told him no thanks, my wife and I thought well maybe we changed our mind as the cost came in higher with the footing work. After a few weeks, we talked it over, changed our minds. We really needed the bedroom. I called him, thinking "gosh he probably won't want our work". Omar came back, no change in price, same deal as before, he didn't even bat an eye, he was ready to go, and this was like 4 weeks later after I told him no. So yea, it was project that I was told was too much for people, everyone didn't want to go get permits or deal with the footings... Omar told us what to expect and stuck to the plan. He dealt with the County and the inspector always came and said even himself "these guys know what they are doing". We passed all inspections. Omar even was super flexible about adding things to the project as we went along, as you know I get ideas about what I might want, we added some carpeting and shelving, and additional tile work that he added at no additional cost to him. He really just knows what he is doing and is super on top of things. So go with Noor Construction if you have the chance, you won't regret it!
