Extremely disappointing experience. I would caution anyone considering doing business with this company. I purchased a bike from them, and after repeatedly following up on the shipping status, I received a text from their "Internet Sales Manager" stating there was an inventory mix-up. He added, "no worries, we're going to send you a 2025 model at no additional charge." That's not a favor--that's simply correcting a mistake they made. Instead, they sent me a 2022 model, not even close to what was promised. I've called multiple locations trying to get in touch with someone who could resolve the issue. Each time, I was told the owner was aware and would be in contact within a day or two. I'm still waiting, and still fighting to get my money back. Since then, I've found multiple complaints from others who have experienced similar shady practices with this company. I've contacted Specialized directly in hopes they can help resolve the situation. Overall, this has been a frustrating and dishonest experience. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

EPIC is a fitting name because that is what you get when you walk through the doors! It's like walking into a museum. The place is an ode to cycling--or, even better yet, a love letter to cycling! Everything is done to perfection. Matt the mechanic once again re-aligned my derailleur and made sure the shifting was as crisp as it should be. He also straightened out my handlebars and made sure my wheels were all good to go! When it comes to Pinarellos Matt is the best around. Must've been my lucky day. Chris the manager is always very helpful and puts me on some new gear. Walking into this place is like being a kid in a candy store. Chris was like "Go get some candy!" There are some great deals to be had on some quality products. They only sell the best brands. This place is the best bike shop in San Diego. Do you want a great bike shop? Chris made me feel welcome right away even though I know basically nothing about bikes. He was just so happy to get me started and encourage me in my bike journey. Not to mention, the KILLER deal I got on the bike. It's better quality than I had even considered when I walked in, but it's so worth it given the price point they were able to offer. my wife and I were borrowing our friends electric bikes in Delmar. As we started to ride, we found we needed air and stopped at epic bikes. They were so nice and let us walk the bikes in and they filled up our tires and checked our air pressure for free, so I really wanted to give a shout out to the shop for stopping and helping us when they didn't have to. read more

Had Mathew at Epic Cycles unpack my titanium bike and put it together. They charged me $95. Every bike shop that offers this service, includes checking the bike to make sure it's safe to use. This shop did not do that. The tires had a 10 lb difference, and the gears slipped when I tried to ride it. There are probably other issues. I called and spoke to both the owner, Chris, and the tech, Mathew. When I asked if they would check out the bike, they told me they would charge me! I told them I already paid, $95! They were cagey, and repeated that they would charge me to check out the bike. This place sucks. Once you pay, they are rude and completely unhelpful. Now I have to pay another $100 to get a different bike shop to check my bike, fix the gears etc. Don't use these guys. They are crooks and would rather have riders on unsafe bikes, then complete the job they were paid for. read more

I would like to like this business because it's a great location, good range of parts and cycles. However I wasn't able to get anyone to even talk to me about the part I needed. I was pretty much ignored. The parts and repair guy wouldn't even look up, the register guy said he didn't know anything about parts, and the sales guy had a couple interested in buying cycles and didn't need to talk to me. Jarod is a top notch mechanic who really cares about doing a great job and getting you back on your bike quickly. I've been in there a couple times and have really been impressed by their customer services. Recently I had a problem a week before an event with a recently installed new front disc break caliper. They were able to squeeze me during lunchtime and bled the hydraulics and fixed my problem in time for the event. It's really nice to have a local bike mechanic who does great work and really cares. Also great Pinarello and BMC bikes on display and a nice selection of gear. Definitely a pleasure doing business with them and I would highly recommend them. read more

My Specialized ebike computer needed an upgrade that could only be done by a dealer. Rather than drive the bike to Poway, I rode to Epic, close to home in Solana Beach. Jared , Connor and the helpful guy at the front desk (who doesn't have a card!) were friendly and my bike was ready in a few minutes. (Bonus: Sweet dog to pet while conversing about gear). I have three kids, so my riding time is sacred every weekend. I flatted right next to the shop and pulled over to look at my tire. After I realized my tube was shot, I walked in to see if someone could look at my tire. The guys inside were so kind, super nice and knowledgeable. They fixed my flat super quick and pulled a stable out of my tire. I can't say enough about how nice and helpful they were. I've been looking for a new bike and after interacting with them, I wouldn't want to buy it anywhere else. I love that they have inventory there to look at and the shop is super spacious. read more

I was having a problem with my front Shimano derailleur Another bike store, I can't think of their name, just give me a "Moment." There they wanted to replace the derailleur at a cost of over $300. A friend suggest Epic Cycles in Solana Beach. Jared the mechanic spent a few minutes adjusting the derailleur, fixed the problem and didn't want to charge me. I did chip in $10 for the beer fund. WOW Epic Cycles is first rate. And Jared is a first rate mechanic. Fully stocked and very friendly. read more
