Epic Burger - Burgers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Got the turkey burger on brioche with avocado, grilled onions, lettuce, and epic sauce and side of sweet potato fries. Good, not horribly expensive, but not going to blow your mind either. Fries are crispy but not really seasoned at all. Hits the spot for a craving, but not anything too special! read more

I had the epic burger with beef on brioche, with lettuce, tomato, pickle, epic sauce, and grilled onions. I also got a side of fries. It's a good, decent burger. Definitely not the cheapest burger, but great to satisfy that craving. The fries are not the crispiest, so they're not my favorite fries, but decent. There is a lot of seating at this location, even has an upper floor. SO great place to have a quick bite to eat out of the cold. In the summer, they also have outdoor seating, probably not great after this cold week. read more

I ordered through Grub Hub while our child was in the hospital. The order was wrong and when I called they tried to blame the driver. I was placed on hold for a manager and was hung up on after 15 min on hold. Terrible customer service. read more

Horrible customer service. The cashier Ana M. didn't like how I put the money down on the counter as I was rushing to grab my personal belongings from outside so she came out to where I was watching my personal belongings and THREW my change on the bench! She confessed to throwing my Money saying she can do that because she thought I threw my money at her. Totally unacceptable. Very rude customer service. Came in super hungry, no breakfast and a couple hours past traditional lunch time. Really tasty burger and fries. Well worth a stop if you're in the area. I did notice that it was fairly dusty inside though. From metal rails, to chair legs and table bases, a healthy coating of dust. But, I am leaving looking forward to a return visit next time I'm up this way in a few months. read more

First time @ Epic burger and I had always wanted to try this place out. Got a double burger, turkey burger and fries. Burgers are decent in terms of price and quality, but nothing mind-blowing. Fries were a big disappointment and were soggy (not sure, if our timing was wrong). Overall, just okay experience, but nothing extraordinary. p.s: I wouldve given 3 star based on food.. but staff and service was great.. so 1 more star read more

Never had Epic burger until a week ago and I've already been twice. I pass by all the time and never had to courage to go in until I seen that they sold the Beyond Plant Based burger and I decided to walk in a give it a try. I personally appreciate being able to add to my burger accordingly it prevents waste and allows your food to come out fresh and that's what I really enjoyed. I ordered the plant based burger & sweet potato fries and it was really good and fresh off the grill. It was a little pricey, spent about $30 for 2 of us but I did enjoy it so much I went back 4 days later. Sucks that it's so close to home, I'll have to avoid it as much as possible. lol. read more

One of our favorite burgers in Chicago if not our favorite! Just saw that the other Epic burger locations don't have as great reviews... I haven't tried other locations other than this one and this location hasn't failed us. Service is always very friendly just the way I like it and the burgers are juicy, the veggies in it are fresh...I do love French fries and I have to say I don't love theirs (their sweet potato are much better) and I've tried their smoothies not so great either but their burgers are classic and SPOT ON. read more

Matt and his team did an amazing job. They were very hospitable. Epic Burgers are amazing, as you already know I am sure. The team at this location, lead by Matt makes this location truly special. They have a late night menu, Matts Idea, which goes from 12 am to 4am. I highly recommend you go here after partying on hubbard. Matt and crew, thank you for a wonderful experience read more

Your basic burger joint. Way better than fast food but nothing super special. The food came out quick, hot, and tasted good. If you want a side, that's extra so I skipped it and got a milkshake instead. The peanut butter milkshake was creamy, thick, and rich. Overall this place was pretty good. read more

A late night spot with a reliable burger, and ok fries. FOOD: the burger patty was clearly hand pressed. It was uneven with crooked edges, and the meat didn't taste like something that had been blended in some warehouse then shipped over. It was actually like a burger someone might make at a family gathering. I was a little disappointed in the fries. I was hoping they would be crispier and hotter. SERVICE: They forgot to add the epic sauce to the burger, but after I asked for a side of it, it was probably for the better. It seems like a mix of ketchup and another condiment (mayo?). Not bad to dip the fries in. ATMOSPHERE: Clearly the neighborhood late night spot. The crowd thinned and surged a bit while we were there. Very casual and average volume read more

"Epic" should be replaced with "overly-priced mediocre." The burgers were dry and flavorless, not to mention expensive for their size. Not to mention, I couldn't understand a word of the person at the counter taking our order. The 2 stars were for the decent fries. Don't bother with this place, it reminded us of dining hall food. read more

If I were stranded on a desert island and could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be a cheeseburger. Not just any cheeseburger, but a big juicy medium rare cheeseburger with gooey cheddar, well done fries and a fountain diet coke. It's asking a lot, I know, but can't fault a girl for knowing what she wants. Much as I love the space, the concept, and the branding, Epic Burger just doesn't do the trick. Positives: The space is warm, with beautiful reds and browns and thick wooden tables. The menu looks great - not only can you get a burger, you can also get a turkey burger, portabello, or a chicken sandwich - yum! The all natural, low fat shakes, malts, and smoothies also look good, especially the peanut butter one. So what's the problem? I'm a self-identified cheeseburger girl, and I've never had a cheeseburger quite like this one. First of all, it was crispy. Huh what? That's right - the actual burger itself was crispy! It was a super flat patty that they had basically burned. The cheddar was almost none existant, the patty was buttered (eww), and to top it all off, the fries were so soggy they felt like mush. If you're a cheeseburger aficionado like me, I suggest sticking to the better options in the neighborhood, particularly Gibsons or Luxbar. read more

I'm about to show my age.....I remember when you could get a combo meal (fries, sandwich, drink) for $7.00, but now that can only get you a burger. The fancier the trend (grass-fed...organic...whatever)...the more pricier the cost. Well this is one of those trendy places. I think I would have felt more comfortable paying that price if it didn't have such a fast food type atmosphere. When you walk in there's a sheet that explains how to order...white or wheat bread, what type of cheese, extra add on's, condiments. I 'm actually not a huge fan of customization, but I will admit it was a pretty decent burger. Nothing over the top, but it was juicy and the blue cheese paired with the burger was good. I've had better burgers and probably wouldn't be willing to pay $7.00 for this in the future. read more

I loved Epic off of North Avenue and now I have one more conveniently located to work/grad school. The ingredients are fresh and the burgers taste delicious. They have a turkey burger (which is delicious) as well as a portabello burger (haven't tried). So, even your vegetarian friends will love it! The staff is younger and the last cashier I had was kind of rude...but whatevs. I love that there are two floors to sit on. My next stop for Epic is to get a milkshake because they look like deliciousness in a glass. read more

Not as good as M Burger and a bit on the greasy side. My side salad was stale and discolored. I guess no one orders salad, my bad, I should've ordered fries, I was trying to make a healthy choice. And a bit expensive for what you get. Service was ok. read more

SO refreshing to get a "fast food" burger that is quality burger - i.e. focus on humane animal meat, etc. Even organic/free-range eggs to put on your burger! I am willing to pay a bit more for food if I know it came from a good place - and on top of that, the service was awesome! THe cashier answered my many questions, and we even got service later when sitting eating our food. An employee came by and asked how everything was! How cool is that? And they cleared our food for us, too, when we were done. I got a junior burger with an egg, and fries. Super happy with all of it - will definitely go back. read more

Grease is Good (credits to Gordon Gecko / Wallstreet). That was my take after walking in for what looked like an unhealthy and greasy burger with fries - things I try to avoid but get a hankering for now and then. But, I quickly realized that you can have a really tasty meal and not feel like your life expectancy is shorter because of it. For starters, you have to like a place that has a super simple menu - burgers, fries, drinks. That's it. 4 sandwiches to choose from: Epic (beef) Burger, Turkey Burger, Portabella Sandwich and Chicken Breast. Simple, smart and focused. Hard to screw up. 4 choices for toppings: cheese, bacon, fried egg and all-of-the-above (my ad lib). 4 drink choices: fountain drink, bottled drink, shake/malt and real fruit smoothie. Now the twist. Fries are cooked in "trans fat-free oil and seasoned with pure sea salt. So, you have reason (if you needed one) to indulge in those evil fries. They have "cage free organic" fried eggs as a burger topper. None of the eggs I saw were in cages and all eggs are organic as far as I know, but it sounds pretty good for you and the birds. They have a foot note that reads: "made in equipment that may contain traces of nuts". I am not sure if this is in reference to food by-products or sketchy employees but it's nice they warn you. All in all, this is like the original McDonald's of the 1960's in terms of simplicity and quality with 2012 practicality. I will definitely go back and not feel guilty when I leave. Grease can be Good. read more

I'm trying to figure out why this chain is called "Epic" Burger. The only thing that was epic about my experience here was the giant chocolate chip cookie. I ordered a beef burger on white bread with cheddar cheese, grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, ketchup, and epic sauce. For a side I ordered the natural cut fries. I added on one of those huge chocolate chip cookies. Surprisingly the meal came out to me fast. There wasn't a line, but I wasn't sure if this was a made to order restaurant or actually a fast food chain. Based on the speed that I got my food, I'm going to assume that only the beef is made to order. When I first ordered the food I was so excited because I have had a few associates tell me how great this place is. Perhaps this location just sucks because when I received my food I was literally so underwhelmed by its presentation that I had to look at the menu to make sure I was at the right place. The burger buns were so greasy from being toasted. The burger was so greasy as if it wasn't strained at all before hitting the buns. The lettuce and tomato had no freshness to taste. The epic sauce barely has any taste. The grilled onions were good, also greasy. The burger itself (after I had to deconstruct the entire sandwich to dab it with a napkin so as to get rid of some of the grease) had a great flavor. But not EPIC. Heres the biggest disappointment. The fries. The fries were fried to a crisp (not in a good way). Then it tasted like someone opened a whole can of salt and drenched them with it. I literally had to send them back and demand a fresh batch with no salt. I only did this after requesting honey mustard (which they didn't have) or hot sauce (which they also didn't have) to mask the saltiness. If this was McDonalds I would've been fine. But I dropped $13 on food that, in my honest opinion, tasted worse than most food I've ever gotten at McDonalds!?! It will take something serious to get me to run back to "Epic" Burger. read more

Couple of things: 1) I'm dramatic and 2) I'm never going to listen to my DH again. So, we're shopping in River North and my DH suggests that we go to EPIC burger for a quick bite. Since we weren't too hungry, we decide to split the mushroom burger, fries and skinny shake. We place our order and take out seats. As we're waiting, my brilliant DH states, "It's a good thing we're splitting this; my friends say their burgers are pretty horrible." At that point, I wasn't sure whether to smack him with my bag of recently purchased undergarments or to cry. There is nothing I hate more than wasting money on crappy food, hence, why I actively seek Yelpers advice on good eats in Chicago. Anyhow, we get our burger and sure enough, it was by far the worst burger I've ever had. I seriously think they cooked the buns in the same grease as the fries. I was then I realized that I about to eat a wet burger (I'm gagging as I write this). If I have to give one positive: the skinny shake. It held me over and was the reason I didn't throw my burger at the cooks. Never again. read more

Woa woa woa! Whats with all the hate on Epic Burger? This place is the business!!! I came in today and got a burger and it was yummy as always. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. I had a minor issue with my order only once ever and the manager was totally cool about fixing it. If you haven't been in, I suggest you give it a try for yourself. It is a decent place to get a solid burger. Plus the burgers are made with quality beef with no hormones and additives and all that other junk you're going to get at other fast food restaurants and the price is super cheap for the quality. Fellow Yelpers, I usually trust your judgement, but I think this place is a little better than 3.5 stars. read more

Turkey burger is still the best in the city, at any of their locations.

What sets this Epic Burger apart from all of its counterparts blossoming up around the city? 8am burgers and fries!!! Finally, it is decent dinner food for the day time. For those who can't get over the idea of scarfing down fried spuds + a cheesy egg burger, fret not for there are b-fast sandwiches and intelligentsia coffee. I suspect my first encounter will be the start of many as I'm sure I will be the only one strutting down Pearson with a fistful of fries in the midst of a.m. coffee chuggers. It couldn't get more made-to-order than this and after a long shift, a burger is what I crave and an Epic burger I shall have. read more

This location has an awesome layout and decor. I ate on the 2nd floor overlooking the restaurant and street on a sunny day (ahh), and it was super clean with employees asking you how your food was and cleaning up your trash without you lifting a finger. The only kind of strange thing was where to order when you walk in. The first thing you see is the shake making area, so it's odd if you've never been inside. I've never had a portabella burger, and I love my beef burgers, but thought I'd try something new (and less calories!). I almost couldn't tell I was eating a mushroom instead of beef - it was so good! The wheat bun was soft and tasty, the grilled onions helped give it more flavor, the epic sauce was not too overwhelming but added juicyness, and the Harvarti Dill cheese was mmm good. The bottom bun did get a little soggy after I was halfway done, but that happens with a lot of burgers. The fries were pretty good, too. Crispy and soft at the same time, but not too salty. The only negative was the price, but it's way better than a burger meal at McD's or Wendy's, so I'll accept it. read more

Epic Burger is *very* poorly managed. Despite charging more than basically anywhere else on the planet for a burger, fries and milkshake, this and other Epic Burger locations really stand out for consistently hiring unprofessional or plainly bad employees. When I think of Epic Burger, terrible and inattentive service comes to mind. That's a pity, because the food is pretty good and this is a problem easily solved and well-managed by most any other restaurants. Some locations stand out for adequate service, like the one on North Avenue, and some have improved somewhat, like the one in the south loop. But since it has opened this one has been consistently bad. The service on my last visit was, in fact, deliberately bad. I was intentionally made to wait with no other orders in process and with my order already completed, just sitting waiting to given to me, because that's just what the employee wanted to do. On the prior visit, my boyfriend's request for condiments was simply ignored. Food was brought to our table with an eye-rolling huff, as if we patrons were bothering the people who were supposed to be working. This location of Epic Burger needs to get its act together. read more

My first time to Epic Burger and I thought I should write a review, it was surprisingly great ! The burger was really flavorful and cooked perfectly, and the fries that they make fresh there, which is why I ordered them, were perfect -o. Epic Burger - Junior Burger - Burgers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Yeah, I dunno. I was excited to try this place for awhile now, finally did today on my way home. Service, as others have stated, is pretty poor. I don't require a gleaming smile or anything, but the cashier basically barked out burger options at me and silently handed me back my card. I expected a receipt of some sort, but instead ended up standing at the register dumbfounded until the cashier managed a curt (yet sassy?) "uh, you already paid." Yeah, I can laugh it off, but c'mon, does it kill ya to at least be somewhat cordial? When it's your job? Sigh. The burger was fine, I guess. Maybe I've had enough fast casual burgers by now that none of them really wow me, they're just somewhere in-between a crappy McDouble and an actual good hamburger, with the same price as a regular burger. Nothing different here. Fries are pretty good, they've got the skin on 'em, they're fresh, and come in a pretty large order. I'd get them again. Not sure about the burger. It is worth noting that the drink machine is pretty much right where the line forms, so you get to fill your cup and hope you don't elbow any waiting customers in the gut! Also they don't have iced tea, just Brisk, which feels super weird in a place like this. You'd expect some decent tea right? Nah, have a Brisk. And maybe I'm being nitpicky, but the whole sustainable material packaging goes from a nice gesture to a meaningless gimmick when you see how much they package your burger and fries combo in. Burger in one of those recycled paper takeout containers, fries in a paper bag (these are both fine), then a huge, shopping bag-sized paper sack to hold your meager fries and burger. What? This just feels clunky. For a chain like this, you'd think they'd invest in a slightly more minimalistic solution for takeout, something that doesn't make their focus on "sustainability" seem like little more than a marketing ploy. It's not the worst thing in the world, but something worth improving on in the future. Yep. Overall, not so epic. Maybe a little overrated. Probably overpriced. Mostly just left me feeling a bit weird about the whole experience, like it was all somewhat poorly conceived. Go for the fries. read more

Epic Burger - Burgers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Probably my favorite fast-food burger joint in Chicago. Meat patties are delish and actually taste like beef without all the filler that you'll get at a lot of other places. I always recommend getting the Epic Burger with the works (add the cheese, fried egg, and bacon. You won't be sorry). Shakes and smoothies are great as well (though I try to avoid them since the burger itself is probably indulgent enough...) My only (very minimal) gripe is that thick-cut fries aren't my favorite - I prefer shoestring ones since I think they tend to be more flavorful, and I just like my fries crispy. So Epic Burger's fries aren't my all-time favorite, but the burgers more than make it worth the trip. read more

The EPIC burger is indeed epic, a towering handful of lightly sweet whole-wheat bun filled with fresh produce and beefy smashed patty. As someone who is not prone to being impressed with claims of all-natural organic eating, I will admit that I could taste the higher quality in these ingredients and appreciate how generous the staff at this location was with their bacon. There was a pleasing amount of grease and meat juice dripping onto my basket paper and plenty of seating for diners. read more

Burger was good, but hardly Epic. $12 for a single with cheese and an order of fries. I'm all for conscious consumption but for that price I'd hope there was a little more meat and a little less propaganda about their business practices. Staff was nice and interior of the store was clean if oddly organized - customers tend to jumble up as the order here and pick up here window is the same place (and I've no idea what the condiment bar is about). I walk by this place all the time but there are too many other more satisfying options at that price point for me to bother. Epic? Nah. read more
