All three times the flights were delayed at last minute and no reason was given. There wasn't even a representative from Avelo to let us know what was going on. Definitely wasn't a weather issue at either departing or arriving city. First the flight was delayed an hour, then 2 hours, and now it's been 3 hours with absolutely no estimation given of when we'll be able to board. Also, similar to frontier you have to pay extra to bring a carry on. This airline is absolutely not worth it, even for direct flights. Spare yourself the wasted days and don't book with this airline.

Do you ever have the feeling that if you didn't have a moment to read the fine print upon a last minute booking, that your gonna get screwed somehow? I do, I always do -- but this expeience removed me from Planet Jaded for now. Three airline attendants were there for our comfort and saftey upon the midsized Boeing jet. I honestly try to fly below the radar and be flexible when it comes to air travel . I try to make things easy on myself with TSA precheck and premium seats but sometimes there are gonna be unpleasant situations with any kind of travel , including air . With American , my flights have been cancelled , delayed , I've been bumped from first class , sat on a tarmac for an hour and more . On a recent experience, we were grounded and delayed for an extra hour because the flight did not have the minimum amount of flight attendants. They finally found one and she happened to end up seated next to me . She told me she was literally a passenger (not working ) on the flight and was approached by American employees who told her the flight would be cancelled if she didn't work it . She basically saved the flight . There's a shortage of employees everywhere due to this covid pandemic and all airlines are effected by this . Weird times . The thing is you have to be your own advocate and don't expect any airline to go the extra mile without being pushed to (even if you have status). Anytime I have brought a shortcoming to their attention , American has done their best to find a fair resolution and right the situation. You must be vocal and firm in requesting whatever resolution you want because most times they will only do the minimum or nothing at all . Pro tip : if your flight is delayed or cancelled you have the right to request a food voucher if you are waiting at the airport - Google it and definitely ask for those vouchers should your flight be delayed . If you require a reasonable accommodation make sure you plan ahead and talk with the attendants so you can have a smooth flight . At the end of the day , we are all human and sometimes life is hard and travel unpleasant but kindness is free . Pass it on and it will come back to you ten fold !

Subject: Feedback regarding bad boarding experience for Flight AA2452…read moreI am writing to share my concerns regarding a negative experience I had while boarding flight AA2452 today, May 25, at gate B5. As a passenger traveling in First Class (seat 1F), I approached the gate when Priority boarding was announced. Upon doing so, I was addressed by the gate agent in an unprofessional manner and told that it was not my boarding group. When I attempted to clarify that First Class was included in the current boarding announcement, the interaction remained confrontational rather than helpful. Furthermore, the boarding instructions provided over the PA system were confusing; the agent conflated multiple groups, including those requiring special assistance and Priority/First Class passengers, which led to unnecessary tension at the gate. I believe that mutual respect is essential in customer service, and I was disappointed by the dismissive attitude displayed by this staff member. I trust that you will address this matter to ensure that future passengers receive more professional and clear communication during the boarding process. It is always the African American lady at any airline with a bad attitude.

Every flight was late. Yes every flight for my entire round trip. The connecting flights all of them. They also provided only water or coffee on the early flights (a soda would have been nice), well at least my flight. They are also very expensive for the comfort+ seating compared to a few years ago. Every flight was also overbooked or either filled to the max from people who had cancelled flights. There is more I could say but I am hoping this was a fluke week of traveling but if it keeps like this, I/ will start checking out other airlines. The positive was that the flight attendants and employees were polite and helpful.

After picking up 2 suitcases we went outside (one good suggestion we got from the wheelchair girls - don't get an Uber, go with a taxi to Summerville hotel, which we did). Now flying out of Charleston to Atlanta (and in our case switching to Alaska) still $35 for a suitcase, but the biggest problem - Delta refused to assign our suitcases to SAN, so arriving in Atlanta, we have to go out to carusel, to claim our 2 suitcases, then back to Alaska desk, to check in the suitcases again, go thru TSA screening again (well TSA Pre Check helped) and all the way to the gate, waiting for a boarding. I will put Delta Airlines together with American Airlines on a list of (if possible) Do Not Fly.

Then we changed planes in Minneapolis. What a nightmare. The gate agent was the most racist hateful person I have ever met. Trust me I don't use these words lightly. She also wouldn't let on another white family who she said they didn't have the right paperwork for there dog. They did. I demanded to talk to a Supervisor. Which they supplied. I am a large person and I'll pay to upgrade to exit row seats whenever possible, especially on a long flight. I went on their website and found an exit row seat for me and my wife and paid a lot for the upgrade(~$150 each). The seating diagram clearly showed the seat having extra legroom. But, when I got on the plane, the seat was an exit row seat but in a different configuration that had no extra legroom. I wrote to customer service and their reply was that the Boeing 737 MAX 8 plane has two different configurations and the website showed the wrong one (sorry not sorry) but that the extra cost was justified because it was considered a preferred seat anyway. Poor job Alaska Airlines!!!…read more Not the airline I remember! A high volume of comments on your complaint form? (see attached) hmmm... does that mean something?...Maybe your level of service has taken a nose dive. Alaska Airlines management, take note and maybe work on setting up your employees up for success? I understand safety is first but you need to be civil to your customers and meet your agreed upon obligations as an airline to stay in business in my opinion. I am a family man, Veteran and worked internationally in the past. I have flown many airlines over the past several decades and my recent flight from Washington State to South Carolina on Alaska Airlines was the craziest and most frustrating flight I have ever been a part of even though I landed pretty close to on-time. I have had flights cancelled, redirected and turned around mid flight. Oh and baggage was late and the carrousel was not announced anywhere I could find. I took the time to get the extra 2500 points for late baggage to baggage claim though most passengers did not since the line was long. My flight story: To start, a plane swap caused passenger bumping, with no notice to those that got bumped until last minute before boarding. The person in front of us was taking her husband on his last vacation since he had stage 4 cancer and was pleading with the counter person to get a seat on the plane. I also encountered seat confusion upon entering the plane, rude and inattentive flight attendants and confusion with pre-purchased snacks on what seemed to be an extra noisy 737. Hmmm... Sure seems to me that leadership of this company has lost touch if they are ok with this. Conclusion: I did leave a complaint on their web site and I received an automated message that stated it will take 7-10 days for any response due to a high volume of comments. Hmmm...maybe if they brought their level of service back to an acceptable level they wouldn't get so many comments. ps. either high stronger flight attendants or make your device carts more reasonable to push up and down the aisle. The flight attendants did not look like they were having an easy time moving that thing around!
